I never was one for Boho Chic style to be completely honest. I find myself to be more of a preppy girly girl or ‘Charlotte York’ inspired sophisticate…but when in LA, it is practically mandatory to have one or two ‘go to‘ Boho Chic ensembles and this happens to be one of them 😉 When the temperature heats up and exploring begins…desert vibes and ‘golden hour’ (referring to the best time to take outdoor photos) make great times for new outfit inspo (who would have thought I would enjoy boho style past Coachella haha :p)

Happy Sunday Funday Ya’ll! I haven’t done ‘Arts + Crafts’ since I was a little Girl Scout back in the day, but when Ace Hardware wrote to me about their new 31 Days Of Color paint campaign where they picked 31 bloggers to create fun projects each using a different color from the line I knew it was time for me to unleash my inner child and get creative!
*Ace Hardware has provided free paint samples. I was also compensated for my time and this blog post. All opinions and positions expressed here are my own and do not necessarily reflect those of Ace Hardware.*
The color I received was ‘Island In The Sun‘…pretty suiting for a girl whose favorite color is purple and a girl who wishes she was writing this post from an island in the sun haha 😉 What is even more amusing is this hue of purple is pretty much identical to the color of my room! (Talk about coincidence) I actually completed two different projects with the paint kit Ace Hardware provided (it had ‘Island In The Sun’ paint + primer in one, a roller and a paint tray), so here is a list of what you will need to get the job done:
–Paint from Ace Hardware’s ‘Paint Studio’ (whatever shade is your favorite!) What I also love about this paint line is that it is a paint + primer in one! (one less thing you need to buy!)
-A Wooden Crate
-A Paint Roller
-A Paint Brush
-A Paint Tray
-An Xacto Knife (although my dad used a razor blade instead)
–White Moleskin Journal (I bought a ‘Poppin’ Journal from Staples…same idea)
My first project was to paint this cute wooden crate I got…I have been feeling artsy lately because I want to buy a nice new desk for my room to set up my blogging workshop (typically I sit on my bed with my MacBook Air, but as blogging is slowly becoming a little bit like a second full time job for me, I have been thinking a nice little office area would be ideal). This project is simple…simply pour a little paint into the paint tray…roll the roller in the paint and tap it on the tray to remove excess and then begin painting…voila!
My second project took a little more work…I used Photoshop to create a ‘Missy‘ graphic. I printed it and then my dad assisted me (because I am a total clutz and didn’t want to hurt myself) with using an Xacto Knife to cut out the center of the image, so the paper became a stencil I could tape to my journal for me to paint in…
Because the paper is so flimsy, I used a little piece of cardboard to hold down the paper as I painted within the stencil so the paint wouldn’t spread. Once I finished painting in the whole stencil in, I peeled up the tape and mission complete!
Two cute desk accessories that are great for your office whether it’s a home office or a corporate space…these personal touches will make you smile throughout the day and add a little bit of ‘You’ wherever you go.
Even my pup Charlie liked my creations 😉 Or maybe he is just nosey who knows…haha get it…knows…nosey :p

Someone has a case of the ‘Mondays‘….and it may just be me 😉 Safe to say I spent the weekend catching up on some cult classic movies…along with some shopping, girl time and cuddling with Charlie (my dog duh!)…didn’t have any exciting dating adventures this past weekend…I was suffering from a pounding headache and didn’t even get around to shooting new outfits (that means next weekend is crunch time ugh)…anyways on a happier note, I am excited to start actually dressing for spring…slowly but surely and my first spring essential? A killer trench coat like this one! PS It’s on sale at Nordstrom (woohoo!)
A trench coat is the perfect piece to get to transition into spring…it’s not as heavy as your winter coat + it is perfect to wear on those rainy spring days (hopefully they bring May flowers right?). Another key piece from spring (aka something you actually need year round) are these blue Ray Bans…they come with me everywhere I go and will definitely be brought to LA in a few months (I may not come back…#AGirlCanDream)
Another great way to ring in spring? With a bright pair of pants like these cobalt blue jeans (under $40 here!) and some chic nude pumps. I love nude pumps (I also styled them with some winter wear last week on the blog here) because they match with everything and really add that extra ‘sex appeal’ to every outfit. My Gucci Soho tote is the ideal transition bag because black is timeless and a great quality bag never goes ‘out’ of style.
No outfit is complete without the proper bling…this Kendra Scott ‘Naomi’ Ring + my blue face Michael Kors watch (such a perfect hue for spring plus it matches the pants woo!).

I am going to be completely honest…I never was one for the whole ‘preppy‘ look. I attempted the whole Lacoste phase when I was middle school and wasn’t sure i could truly pull off a polo, but when I saw gals rocking a chambray button down under a sweater I said to myself ‘Let’s give it a shot‘ and I am kinda glad I did 😉
Because the whole denim and sweater look wasn’t preppy enough, I had to wear white jeans (yes I LOVE white jeans year round cc: ‘Feels Like Winter‘), add black patent leather flats and of course…a dash of neon (my satchel is available in my Poshmark closet here). Let’s break it down…this black + white striped sweater has become a favorite of mine (stay tuned to see how else I style it). It’s warm, cozy and black and white stripes are just begging to be paired with white jeans…right? 😉
I’m thinking I have to bring these white jeans with me to Florida in a few days and maybe this chambray button down too (ugh I am creating outfits in my head as I am typing #BloggerProblems)
I kept my shoes + bag simple and preppy…well as long as preppy includes neon and bows 😉 I was searching to patent leather pointed flats with a bow on them FOREVER and finally stumbled upon these ones from Target and I love them. Since I can’t have a look without color I included this yellow satchel (on Poshmark here)

It’s no secret that I have a slight obsession with color…and by color I mean anything that’ll stand out and truly make a statement, maybe even a little pop? 😉 One of my current colors I am crushing on is red…I am on the hunt for a new red bag (if you have any helpful tips or suggestions PLEASE let me know…I can’t seem to find a bag that makes me ‘fall in love’ haha) and here I am wearing a red sweater and red booties in the dead of winter (yes I was freezing while shooting this)! My red pullover sweater was a Target find (hey if I have to wear sweaters all winter long it may as well be a cute one!) and my red suede booties were and Old Navy find (similar here).
