    Sample Size…

One of the hottest beauty trends out there today is specially curated boxes of sample sized products delivered in a pretty little package to your door each month. While I’m all about this trend, because come on what gal doesn’t like a mid-month surprise of cosmetics, there are simply so many companies out there running with this idea!

I’ve been subscribing to Birchbox for a while and recently through a suggestion from another blogger, decided to subscribe to Ipsy as well! Both cost $10 a month, both deliver great brand name products to your door, and both put a huge smile on my face every time the package arrives πŸ™‚

Today is an exciting day in the world of ‘Missy On Madison‘! Not only am I finally re-capping my first ever ‘Lucky Fabb‘ Fashion & Beauty Blogger conference that I attended last week in Beverly Hills, but I am also sharing my gift bag swag with YOU!

One thing I love about being a blogger is awesome goodie bags at conferences, parties and events. Now while I love the excitement of opening and going through my loot, I end up not using half of it because there is simply too many products to use and I sometimes have my favorites I can’t live without! So I figured why not share the wealth and share the swag with my readers πŸ™‚

    Mint & Polka Dots

I love the fact that I can actually wear my spring and summer outfits here in LA πŸ™‚ This look is from my first day here in sunny California when Kristi and I were running all around town for different fashion related events. As you may know, I love a pop of color and this outfit has two…my Steve Madden neon lime bag I scored at TJ Maxx for $20 and my mint green H&M blazer I found on the clearance rack for $10 two years ago!

Funny how some of my favorite pieces weren’t ones that cost a fortune at a high end department store πŸ˜‰

    Lemon Lime

    20140331-103423.jpg

I’m embracing color in preparation for my trip to California for Lucky Fabb West 2014! This, I believe will be one of the many…and I mean many looks I will be packing for my 4 day trip! I’m already prepping myself for my luggage being overweight at the airport but I’m a firm believer in the fact that you can never be too prepared for what’s to come. I have quite the itinerary planned for my Cali trip, and the right outfit is always essential!

While it’s rainy and dreary in the big apple today, this look can brighten up any day. I’m probably one of the few gals who dares to wear a lime green moto jacket but let me tell ya…it’s head turning πŸ˜‰ What girl doesn’t like to make a statement! In addition, spicing the look up with white jeans and mirrored sunnies is suiting for a walk down Rodeo Drive don’t ya think?

I got this Karen Kane jacket gifted to me and I love it. It’s unique, different and neon…all of my favorite things wrapped into one stylish look! When I slip it on I feel kind of bad ass…all I’m missing is my bike πŸ˜‰ Maybe one day right? Anyways, in addition to neon, a fashion item I will always be a fan of is a crisp pair of white jeans. Once you find the right pair that flatters your figure, they are sexy with just about everything and yes, I break fashion rules by wearing white jeans year round…oops!

Fashion is all about breaking the rules and finding your own personal style. You know what flatters your body, you know what works and what doesn’t. I believe that following the trend isn’t always ideal because not every trend works for every girl. I will always love neon while other gals may hate it. I will never rock a crop top because hey I am not a twig, and flared jeans simply don’t look as fabulous on me as they do on Rachel Zoe. Pick and choose wisely…every trend is open to interpretation πŸ™‚

    Bye Bye Four Eyes

    20140320-084208.jpg

Today is the beginning of the end…kind of contradictory, but what I mean to say is today is the last day I will ever need to wear glasses or contacts because I am undergoing LASIK eye surgery!

I first learned I had to wear glasses because I was near-sighted (meaning I can’t read things 5 feet in front of me, never understood why near-sided means the opposite of how it sounds and vice versa…but that’s another story) when I was in 2nd grade. I was devastated as any child would be when they learned they had to wear the dreaded ‘glasses’. Now while I wasn’t a fan of having to wear them, I was a fan of driving my mother crazy when it came to choosing frames year after year, because as a fashion lover at a young age…I was most certainly not wearing one pair of frames for the rest of my public school career. I went through tons of pairs till I ventured into my Junior/Senior year of high school (I graduated a year early, hence doubling up everything in one year).

I began using contacts and was instantly thrilled and felt like a new person, however wearing them all day from school to work to play, they began to irritate my eyes and make me virtually blind as soon as 10pm rolled around. I dealt with it up till now but finally after tons of encouragement on how life changing the LASIK procedure is, I decided it was about time to ditch the dry eyes and dirty contacts covered in my eye liner and mascara for perfectly clear vision!

I am beyond excited for my procedure today, but at the same time a bit nervous. As with any procedure there’s a slim chance that something can go wrong, so here’s to hoping I don’t end up blind πŸ˜‰

    Wish Me Luck! πŸ™‚
