Feels Like Winter…

Brrrrr…It is FREEZING here in New York and yesterday we had our first real snow fall of the season which naturally I was ill equipped for. Commuting to work everyone work snow boots and hats…me? I wore slip on sneakers and left the hat at home (I tend to ~~never~~ dress weather appropriate what can I say). Today’s post was shot a few days before Christmas but I actually for once dressed warm enough that I wasn’t shivering cold while shooting! So I am making progress slowly but surely 😉And yes…it’s winter and I am wearing white (despite the fashion rule ‘No White After Labor Day’ I wear white skinny jeans ALL the time!) Today’s look is simple and easy…perfect for work AND play! A tan button down cardigan is a winter ‘must have’, it’s ideal for layering plus it’s an easy no brainer to throw on in the morning over a blouse when it’s chilly.I have become slightly obsessed with scarves this winter and the one I am wearing today is my FAVORITE! I love the plaid design and the fringed ends…it’s so warm and cozy it feels like home <3 Now to break down the shoes, bag + sunnies. I got these J Crew sunglasses a few months ago and love them as a great alternative to my usual go to sunnies…my mirrored aviators. These C Wonder block heel booties are the most comfortable boots I own. The stacked block heel adds extra support and the rubber bottoms make them super easy to walk in (something that is quite important when commuting into NYC). PS these booties are on sale now for under $75!And last but not least…the premiere of my new Gucci Soho Tote! New Year’s Eve…

The time has come for the last blog post of 2014 and I can’t believe that it has now been a year and a half since I initially began blogging! 2014 has truly been a roller coaster ride for me from a new career path to stepping up my blogging game to meeting tons of new people…2014 has pushed me outside of my comfort zone and has truly been a stepping stone leading to my soon to be empire 😉 (wishful thinking :p)In true ‘cliche‘ blogger fashion as my brother would like to say haha (my brother is quite the spit fire by the way and also writes a blog of his own ‘Pop Culture Died In 2009‘) we did a fun glitter filled photo shoot to ring in the New Year in style! It took a good 40 shots to snap the perfect pic of me blowing sequins/glitter…I don’t know how all the other bloggers do it but hey the outtakes are always funny as well 😉 I love to make a statement especially on a holiday so today’s head to toe look is pure glamour…but first…the aftermath of my sequin frenzy…sequins EVERYWHERE!These Gucci Swavorski Crystal Heels are actually available in my Poshmark closet now and are absolutely stunning! I received them as a gift over a year ago and have yet to find somewhere to wear them…so why not rock them for New Year’s Eve (just the shoot that is…no way can I ruin these babies at a club lol!)My go to party and night out bag is the Rebecca Minkoff Affair Bag available here. It is simple, chic and fits all of your essentials (the perfect NYE bag to fit roll up flats, lip gloss + more)Now to break down the rest of my party girl look. This shaggy pink coat is a piece I fell in love with the second I spotted it. I may not of had somewhere to wear it to but I knew I simply HAD to have it 😉 (available on my Poshmark here)To match the pink shaggy coat I decided a chic beaded skirt was a must. While I couldn’t find a skirt identical to mine, I found two similar options from Saks Off Fifth and Urban Outfitters here + here.I also needed a slight pop of color…so this Kate Spade necklace did just the trick:

Chambray On My Mind

Now yes ladies, I’m totally going to admit, while this outfit is super cute and comfortable…I’m definitely not rocking it today as my ‘OOTD’…it’s in the teens in NYC! Can spring please come already?!

A fashion trend that doesn’t seem to be going anywhere anytime soon is chambray. What I love about this shirt and chambray in general is that it can be dressed up or down. For a casual weekend look, pair this chambray top with leggings and some boots or even Converse. For a dressed up look, just use my outfit as inspiration! I have a thing for skirts (what girl doesn’t like to show a little leg 😉 ), in addition I have a thing for mixing and matching different materials. This printed skirt may have a different shade of blue than the chambray top, but I am a firm believer that fashion and personal style is about wearing what works for you!

I scored this top at Nordstrom Rack…safe to say it may not be there now, but check out my shopping list below for a similar top you can score online. The skirt is from Nordstrom, boots from H&M and the bag is Gucci (which I happened to borrow from my mom…why buy my own when my mom has enough style for the both of us 😉 )!
