And I have a case of the Mondays…so obv some blue hues are in order 😉 Also in order…a perfect wardrobe essential for the spring season…a chic beige trench coat! This was my go-to when I was in NYC. Even with the strange weather change (one day it’s hot…the next day it’s cold) it’s a great transition piece. LA is similar…while it’s usually always sunny and warm, some days it gets chilly and a light coat is in order…here is my number one pick (and it’s on sale)!
This look was shot at The Getty…although this look reminds me of my Manhattan days, I figured why not bring some workwear NYC style to LA (hey casual LA gals…getting dressy is totally ok every now and then :p).
Sunshine + Clear Skies…perks of Winter in LA! I have gotten so accustomed to LA life that I can’t even imagine moving back to NY and dealing with the cold temps (especially after seeing all of my friends’ Facebook status talking about how many layers they need to wear just to step out the door…not to mention the blizzardwarnings, road closures and the un-glamorous digging your car out of the snow photos). Yup, I think LA is the place for me…sunshine, the ability to wear short sleeves in the winter + I get to wear white pumps like these without the fear of a slushy sidewalk ruining them :p The perks seem pretty endless…
Even in NY I was obsessed with leather leggings…especially these ones from HUE! They are sexy, comfortable and keep me just the right amount of warm for those chilly days in LA (which are rare)!
Just keep S W I M M I N G…Crazy to think that swim suit season is just around the corner (and even crazier to think that while there is snow on the ground in NYC!)…perks of living in LA? No snow in sight 😉 Just sunshine, pool days and some new swimwear from Target!
So time to be honest…swimwear has been my least favorite thing to shop for…why? Because nothing truly tests your confidence like slipping in to a bikini or one piece and wanting to look ‘sexy‘, ‘fit‘ and ‘beautiful‘. Especially in today’s day and age, it’s really tough to feel like a ‘million bucks‘ with models, celebrities and social media stars (cough cough Jen Selter) looking like they spend their entire lives at the gym…drinking Kale smoothies and doing the latest exercise routine to take over the country. Well truth time…that’s not me, nor will it ever be me. I work out because I want to bingeeat movie theater popcorn at least once a week…I hate Kale and I am A OK with jogging on the treadmill (I prefer to spend my money on shoes as opposed to the latest workout craze :p)!
Well luckily Target has made it easy for even a gal like me to find swimwear flattering enough to flaunt on Instagram…yup totally Insta-Worthy! Whether you are curvy, sporty, pear shaped, have an apple bottom, want to accentuate your waist, lift your chest or hide your perceived ‘problem areas’, Target has the perfectswimsuit for you…Don’t have #FOMO (fear of missing out) this summer because you are worried about how you look in a swimsuit…Target has got you covered!
My personal body issues have followed me ever since I was pre-teen. I was teased, bullied and always made to dream of having that ‘picture perfect’ figure. Well news flash…perfection doesn’t exist and years later I am finally beginning to feel confident in the skin I am in! Do I have moments where I worry about how I look? ABSOLUTELY! But, I also vow to not have a ‘Fear Of Missing Out‘ this summer (or in my case year round :p ain’t LA great)!
That’s why Target wants YOU to take the #NOFOMO pledge! What does that mean? Don’t have the Fear Of Missing Out this summer!! Head to the beach, go for a dip in the pool, lay out and catch some color…no matter what it is you want to do this summer, Target will help you feel your absolute best in the swimsuit just right for you!
H e l l o 2 4 ♥ So am I officially an ‘old fart‘ now? :p JK ok, I may not be hitting the retirement home just yet but I still can’t believe I am 24 years old today (or rather years young haha)! Lots has happened this past year and everyday I’m learning more about life + myself…safe to say this has been the year of breakdowns, quarter-of-a-life ‘pre’ crisis, big changes + plenty of life lessons but nonetheless, it’s been one hell of a ride!
If you told me on my birthday last year that when I was to turn 24, I would be living in LA (West Hollywood to be exact), would have up + left my family to live with my roomie whom is also from LI, NY and start a new life on my own…I would have said ‘Ok, you are shitting me right?‘! Well…a year later and here I am!Â
This year has definitely had it’s ups and downs but it’s really tested my perseverance, my drive + my strength which is what growing up is all about! Last year this time I was working in Manhattan…knowing I so desperately wanted to move to LA and leave cold NY behind for good (or at least until NYFW rolled around haha)! I was unsure of how to get myself to LA + couldn’t just up and move without a job in place along with a plan of action. With a stroke of luck and some hard work, I landed a job and had 2 weeks to get my life together +Â move cross country. It was scary, exciting and a hugechange ahead!
Fast forward to two weeks ago…I was laid off from the job I moved across the country for out of the blue, I was crushed after another failed attempt at dating + I was questioning what truly makes me happy and what I want to do with my life. (Talk about Quarter-Of-A-Life Crisis huh?) :p
Well I discovered that even when I panic + have my doubts…everything works itself out just like it’s supposed to! What’s that old saying? Everything Happens For A Reason?! Well I am a firm believer!
That job I got laid off from brought me to LA which I wanted so bad, that failed dating scenario taught me a lot about myself, as well as my likes + dislikes and questioning myhappiness + future made me realize how passionate I really am about blogging and my career path in digital marketing + social media!!
Fast forward to today…my 24th Birthday! Every day there is a new story with me, but today in particular I have some exciting news to report!
While I was depressed about being laid off just shy of two weeks ago, I got an extra special Birthday Surprise this week 🙂 I am officially the newSocial Media Manager for BH Cosmetics!!! I can’t wait to be running their awesome social accounts + begin sinking my teeth into video (because as we all know, beauty is all about YouTube, Vine + SnapChat now-a-days)! AND I am SUPER excited to have moved up to a ‘Manager‘ position — feels like the true ‘right’ step in my career and I feel thrilled to be moving forward→
I’ve always worked for fashion companies and I am so happy to switch things up with beauty (heck maybe I’ll learn how to get lips like Kylie’s or an on-point contour like Khloe :p) Sky’s The Limit…Literally! That’s why, just like last year…colorful balloons were in order…but this time I am celebrating in Hollywood!
Add me on SnapChat – MISSYONMADISON to follow along + see what I am up to for my Birthday today AND tonight! P.S. I am hoping to run into some celebs on Sunset tonight (hey, if Jeremy Piven happens to show up at Hyde, Chateau Marmont or any place on Sunset…I will take it as a sign of fate that he’s my birthday gift) 😉 haha! No one said turning 24 meant I was going to wake up from my day dreams :p ♥
Modern Day Fairy Tale…wearing a tulle skirt like this one makes me feel like a tad of a princess…ok or more like a version of Carrie Bradshaw so it was only suiting that one of my favorite Valentine’s Day inspired looks includes the SJP staple…all that’s missing is my ‘J’adore Dior’ shirt ♥
While Carrie may have inspired my desire to rock a tulle skirt for Valentine’s Day, I paired it with a simple crop top + boyfriend blazer (had to dress it up for date night :p sorry SJP!) I was anti-tulle skirts for a while because I wasn’t sure how to style them for an everyday look…but I think I hit the nail on the head with this look! Whether you are heading to dinner or just a night out, this ultra-feminine look is perfect for any occasion!
Since the skirt makes such a statement I kept my accessories simple. I love this black Michael Kors python clutch as an easy go-to bag for a night out whether it’s a corporate party, girls night or date with your boo. It fits all of the essentials and with the look of a Stella McCartney bagwithout the price tag 😉
It wouldn’t be a ‘me‘ outfit without a Pop Of Color so since it’s a Valentine’s Day inspired look, fuchsia pumps were the picture perfect choice♥
This ‘modern day fairy tale‘ was shot at the Griffith Observatory…nothing makes me happier than exploring and shooting at new places in LA! Every time I go out to shoot I discover a new place and it feels like a mini adventure…and there is always a ‘happily ever after‘…gorgeous photos! haha ♥
