With Festival Season upon us and Coachella being just weeks away, I am getting kinda addicted to the ‘boho chic babe‘ look :p So since I am currently coming up with outfits to shoot this weekend for festival posts, I decided I’d get some inspo with online shopping (ahem…online ‘window’ shopping hehe — trying to stay on a budget) but luckily these clothing, shoe + accessory picks are all affordable! Woohoo!
H e l l o 2 4 ♥ So am I officially an ‘old fart‘ now? :p JK ok, I may not be hitting the retirement home just yet but I still can’t believe I am 24 years old today (or rather years young haha)! Lots has happened this past year and everyday I’m learning more about life + myself…safe to say this has been the year of breakdowns, quarter-of-a-life ‘pre’ crisis, big changes + plenty of life lessons but nonetheless, it’s been one hell of a ride!
If you told me on my birthday last year that when I was to turn 24, I would be living in LA (West Hollywood to be exact), would have up + left my family to live with my roomie whom is also from LI, NY and start a new life on my own…I would have said ‘Ok, you are shitting me right?‘! Well…a year later and here I am!
This year has definitely had it’s ups and downs but it’s really tested my perseverance, my drive + my strength which is what growing up is all about! Last year this time I was working in Manhattan…knowing I so desperately wanted to move to LA and leave cold NY behind for good (or at least until NYFW rolled around haha)! I was unsure of how to get myself to LA + couldn’t just up and move without a job in place along with a plan of action. With a stroke of luck and some hard work, I landed a job and had 2 weeks to get my life together + move cross country. It was scary, exciting and a hugechange ahead!
Fast forward to two weeks ago…I was laid off from the job I moved across the country for out of the blue, I was crushed after another failed attempt at dating + I was questioning what truly makes me happy and what I want to do with my life. (Talk about Quarter-Of-A-Life Crisis huh?) :p
Well I discovered that even when I panic + have my doubts…everything works itself out just like it’s supposed to! What’s that old saying? Everything Happens For A Reason?! Well I am a firm believer!
That job I got laid off from brought me to LA which I wanted so bad, that failed dating scenario taught me a lot about myself, as well as my likes + dislikes and questioning myhappiness + future made me realize how passionate I really am about blogging and my career path in digital marketing + social media!!
Fast forward to today…my 24th Birthday! Every day there is a new story with me, but today in particular I have some exciting news to report!
While I was depressed about being laid off just shy of two weeks ago, I got an extra special Birthday Surprise this week 🙂 I am officially the newSocial Media Manager for BH Cosmetics!!! I can’t wait to be running their awesome social accounts + begin sinking my teeth into video (because as we all know, beauty is all about YouTube, Vine + SnapChat now-a-days)! AND I am SUPER excited to have moved up to a ‘Manager‘ position — feels like the true ‘right’ step in my career and I feel thrilled to be moving forward→
I’ve always worked for fashion companies and I am so happy to switch things up with beauty (heck maybe I’ll learn how to get lips like Kylie’s or an on-point contour like Khloe :p) Sky’s The Limit…Literally! That’s why, just like last year…colorful balloons were in order…but this time I am celebrating in Hollywood!
Add me on SnapChat – MISSYONMADISON to follow along + see what I am up to for my Birthday today AND tonight! P.S. I am hoping to run into some celebs on Sunset tonight (hey, if Jeremy Piven happens to show up at Hyde, Chateau Marmont or any place on Sunset…I will take it as a sign of fate that he’s my birthday gift) 😉 haha! No one said turning 24 meant I was going to wake up from my day dreams :p ♥
Farewell 2 0 1 5…it’s been real…real fun :p From a big move to LA to plenty of new trends, styles and accessories I tried, 2015 has been another fashion filled year complete with plenty of color…duh! I got inspired by the trending #2015BestNine hashtag taking over Instagram, so I did my ‘Top Nine’ using the site here. So while my ‘Top Nine’ didn’t include too many outfits (clearly quotes, food + travel pictures rule my insta haha) to remember all the great outfits I rocked in 2015, I rounded up my Top 9 Outfits above (linking to the individual blog posts + my favorite items are shown) and my Top 9 Shoes + Accessories below?1.Wednesday Wishing Of Summer : 2.Cobalt Candy Crush : 3.At The LACMA : 4.Palm Springs Throwback : 5.Off To Orlando : 6.Pretty In Pink : 7.Trouble Maker : 8.Denim On Denim : 9.Something Grey
And I figured I also may as well share my ‘real’ Best Nine of 2015 below ☺️
B Y E, B Y E 2015 — Crazy to think that 2015 is coming to a close! It’s been a big year for me + the blog…and although it’s going to be bittersweet to say goodbye to 2015, 2016 is bound to be even more exciting, scary + one hell of a ride 😉 To prep for NYE + to look back on 2015, my blogger bestie Rachel Ross and I headed to the Hyatt Hotel in Times Square (right next to where the ball drops!) for a fun filled day of relaxation at the spa, sips of champagne in a nice suite + a cocktail and appetizers at the rooftop Bar 54!Rachel + I got invited by the Hyatt Times Square to explore all they have to offer…from their rooftop bar to their luxurious and totally glam Marilyn Monroe inspired spa…the day was absolutely A M A Z I N G and it was a great way to spend a little time in NYC when I was in town last week for Christmas 🙂 I haven’t seen Rachel since before I moved to LA + what better way to catch up than with some quality girl time in the spa…After hitting the spa for some nail + hair services, we headed to the most awesome suite (complete with a picture perfect view of Times Square of course)…naturally I had to be a ‘cliche’ blogger + snap a picture…complete with flowers 😉 #SorryNotSorry Anytime I travel, bringing my laptop is a M U S T + having a room with a view is a great way to get the juices flowing and inspire some creativity in my writing…especially if it is a new city, state or town! This is the first time I actually got to sit back + relax in Times Square (normally the hustle + bustle of all the tourists makes Times Square a tad exhausting + overwhelming, but the Hyatt makes it such an easy, breezy experience). It wouldn’t be a perfect girl’s day / night without a little cheers with some champagne…R O O M service! Rachel + I reminisced about all of the things that happened to us in 2015 + our blog / career goals for 2016…basically, keep having fun + take a sh*t ton of pictures 😉 One of the coolest parts of the day was actually spending the night at the rooftop bar and seeing the infamous ‘ball’ in Times Square for the NYE Ball Drop! Talk about an amazing view!! 🙂 Rachel + I couldn’t help but stare :pSo here is to 2016! Hopefully more fun times, girls days + exciting collaborations ahead! 🙂 P.S. My go to for NYE? A chic LBD! Shop my favorites below!
Happy M o n d a y! I hope you all had a great weekend, I know I sure did! I actually hung out by my office on Saturday in El Segundo when I visited The Point, this awesome outdoor mall that is filled with great stores, one of which is Marmi Shoes, where I got these adorablegray pumps (perfect for fall)!
The event was an after party for a huge charity fashion show The Point was hostessing which Marmi participated in, the store was even giving 10% of the proceeds to charity as well (Shop for a cause? Yup I am in :p). It was a lot of fun and I am pretty obsessed with a bunch of their shoes + handbags for fall <3 Like the booties I am wearing above…how cute are they? 🙂Now let’s break down the outfit I wore to the event — My outfit is the perfect look for an ‘LA’ fall, you know since the weather here is far from cold :p I L O V E this pink moto jacket from Kohls (on sale now)…it’s lightweight so it is a great transition piece for season to season and for cool LA nights. I paired it with this polka dot skirt (I love a great print) and this white crop top.I love to mix prints so polka dots + leopard print seemed like a perfect match to me! This Vera Bradley satchel is going to be my signature all season long!
