White As Day…

Speaking of white…you know what is covered in white? Long Island! Because once again it is snowing…#SoOverThisWeather. I am beginning to feel like winter will be lasting a lot longer than I would like so naturally I decided to begin dressing ‘springy‘ hopefully to give mother nature a little *hint hint* to warm up already! (If not I will have to warm up on my upcoming trip to LA that I just booked yesterday! I can’t wait for some sunshine and a nice tan!) Anyways…like I’ve mentioned before, the only thing I do like about all this snow is that it makes for a pretty backdrop…if only it wasn’t such a ~~menace~~ the rest of the time :p While this look isn’t the most practical outfit for this weather, I kinda don’t care because I miss being able to bare my legs and wear skater skirts! (I can’t stand wearing stockings or tights).

I love the neutral colors in this outfit…browns and whites have been my go to shades for winter. Although it’s a ~~faux paux~~ to wear white in winter…let alone a white faux leather skirt, I dared to anyway…and I am pretty content with the result 😉 pair it with a chic sweater and a cute scarf and a primarily spring/summer pieces is turned into a winter essential.

My accessories I kept simple…although I am not wearing them in the photos I recently got these yellow aviators and love them (they will definitely be packed for my upcoming California {post from last year’s visit} trip!). You can ~~never~~ go wrong with neutral hues when it comes to shoes and bags because they can easily be transitioned from season to season and can be worn with any look. These taupe suede booties (which are on sale from ShopBop btw – Use code BigEvent15 for discount) can be worn all year long and can be styled in multiple ways! My Coach cross body has been getting use no matter what the season since I purchased it a year ago (great investment!).

Playing In The Snow With Joules…

Welcome to the beautiful beaches of Long Island….which are now covered in tons and tons of snow….yea it may take a few more months for me to be actually relaxing on one of these having some fun in the sun but for now…I guess some snow time it is. I am one who rarely wants to dress weather appropriate (for gods sake I refuse to wear any coat that actually closes….yes I am weird and hate constricting clothing #weirdo…I feel like I am always having hot flashes even though I am only 23…maybe i should get that checked out but I digress).

I decided to get it together and embrace the snow with these Joules boots which are perfect for rain, sleet or snow (or if you are in NY a combination of all three). This past weekend has been a whirlwind of weather conditions…snow, rain then a warm sunny Sunday…and that’s what made this look possible…

So I based this whole look around these adorable Joules boots. I LOVE how feminine and girly they are since with me the girlier the better :p The bow on the back of these is the perfect touch! To add a little extra pop to the look I included my cobalt blue clutch (on Poshmark here), mirrored Ray Bans, black infinity scarf and of course my black floppy hat (which I had to keep holding onto my head while I was attempting to do a cute jump in the snow #epicfail).

Can’t forget the bling…here + here. I kept my outfit simple since when I am about to go out in the snow on the weekends, all I care about is adding a little color and being comfortable so all I need is my red Vince Camuto coat and my Hue black leather leggings and bam! Ready to take on the weekend (or the week…whichever has the shittier weather I suppose…sorry mom the weather is making me so angry I kinda have to curse) Where is my sunshine?! #HurryUpSummer

Friday Night White…

Ok, yes…I am making a fashion ‘~~faux pas~~‘ today by wearing white in the dead of winter…especially with a light wash chambray shirt (gasp) I am getting a ~~little~~ crazy…what can I say 😉 I simply LOVE white jeans and pairing it with this light wash chambray shirt makes for the perfect combo for a Friday night. Whether it’s heading to the movies, the bar or even dinner…I love a great casual look that isn’t ‘plain’ or ‘sloppy’ looking…I call this…dressed up yet dressed down.My white jeans are from Old Navy but Charlotte Russe has great ones (which I actually ordered whilst I was writing this post haha) for under $30 here. My light wash chambray shirt was an H&M clearance find forever ago (PS a little secret about this shirt…it constantly has to be steamed but I kinda refuse to do so…oops…just adds to it’s ‘casual’ vibe).So this Gucci ‘Soho Tote’ is actually my mom’s which she so kindly let’s me borrow from time to time…although I have my new Gucci ‘Soho Work Tote‘ that I’ve worn before (if you missed it I wore it here) I still have a thing for this bag as well #GucciAddict #SavingForAnother (#SorryNotSorry)!Anytime I wear white pants I feel it is almost necessary to go with a nude shoe and since we are trying to make a chambray top and white jeans a bit ‘dressy‘, why not pair the look with nude suede open toe booties like these ones from Nine West.Now don’t ~~judge~~ me but I actually ended up coincidentally wearing this look tonight (I am currently writing this post at 1am…and I know I will regret this in the morning but oh well) I went out, I lived a little and I wore white…| Click To Shop My Look |

Trouble Maker…

Ok…I know you all are going to yell at me and say ‘What Are You Thinking?!” wearing a skirt in the dead of winter. Well as I’ve shared with you guys before, I shoot multiple looks ahead of time (this way when temperatures are below zero I am not freezing my little butt off wearing my ever favorite skater skirt!). So this little ‘Trouble Maker’ was shot in…drum roll please…October! Yes…You heard me October. My iPhoto library is a never ending catalog of Missy approved outfits just waiting to be posted so in a way this look is a ‘FlashBack Friday’ hence why it isn’t weather appropriate…Now that we cleared the air as to why I am not covered in goosebumps here haha let’s get to the fun stuff…A) The fact that it is Friday and the start of a much needed weekend after my first full week at my new job + B) Breaking down today’s outfit details 😉This look was based around this Rock & Republic scoop neck scuba sweatshirt from Kohls (on sale now for $25!). When I spotted it in Kohls I just knew I had to have it because if you ask anyone that knows me…it’s safe to say I am the occasional ‘Trouble Maker‘ (~~oops~~).In order to dress up an otherwise ordinary sweatshirt I paired it with this cute gray quilted skater skirt from Charlotte Russe (which is only $12…total must have!). I love a good skater skirt and especially anything with a quilted design…what can I say it reminds me of Chanel haha!Another reason I love this outfit? It encompasses my two current obsessions…a Pop Of Color + Studded Pumps (which in reality have always been obsessions of mine!) I scored this orange satchel at Last Call Neiman Marcus as a last minute find, but I found two similar options here + here. My black rockstud pumps aren’t Valentino my loves…they are from Necessary Clothing for under $30 here! Yes…it’s a god send that I am thankful for every day 😉Every outfit needs a little bling! cc: Kendra Scott Naomi Ring + Michael Kors Silver Chonograph Watch I wish the weather would actually warm up so I could wear an outfit like this out again 🙁 But hey that’s what makes New York, New York right folks? Sittin’ Pretty…

Today I am…sittin’ pretty (on the blog here at least). Currently I am wrapped in a towel sitting on my bed watching re-runs of ‘Girlfriends’ Guide To Divorce’ (best show ever btw! current obsession) and relaxing after my return to the Big Apple today for my first day at my new job…which I LOVE! It’s crazy how sometimes things just fall perfectly into place…when you feel like you truly belong somewhere and your voice is heard…it’s a great feeling let me tell ya and if you haven’t experienced it yet, don’t worry one day you will.

I kept being anti-winter and anti NYC weather for the longest time but with looks like this, I can begin to embrace a little cold here and there 😉 Typically when I begin to put a look together I base it around one key piece…today’s would clearly be this great shearling vest that I got at a local boutique by me but I found similar options here, here + here. I LOVE a great vest and this shearling one keeps me warm and cozy…win/win!I really wanted the vest to take center stage so I paired it with a simple white cable knit sweater and black ripped jeans (both are winter staples in my book)! I always think Old Navy has the best cable knit sweaters but maybe that’s because I love a great bargain as well 😉 And my favorite part…bag and shoes! I am OBSESSED with these leopard ankle strap sandals that I snagged for…$7 at DSW! Yes, you heard me…$7! While they are no ~~longer~~ available I found you guys options here + here (all affordable, don’t you worry)!As you all know…I love Rebecca Minkoff and her fabulous ‘Affair’ bag available with free shipping from Zappos here. And even in the winter months I still need my mirrored aviators…they just add a little ‘pop’ to any look don’t ya think?Alright I think that’s all for now folks…I am half asleep and need some rest to get ready for another busy day in NYC!
