It’s 11pm and I am cracking up watching ‘Southern Charm‘ on Bravo (my guilty pleasure) as I am writing this post…If you haven’t watched it, I highly recommend it…it’s some high quality television (ok not really but it is pretty funny and I am thinking a southern man may be the type of guy I should be going after haha). Speaking of class and southern charm…today’s outfit post is a little outfit inspo for the spring of what to wear to the office. The second the temperature heats up in NYC it’s hard to dress both comfortably and appropriate (it’s a constant struggle…I want to show up in denim shorts and a tee but kinda can’t do that…ugh!) but today’s look accomplishes both :p

Swing Batter Batter…SWING! Woohoo! It is finally Friday…and it couldn’t come soon enough! It’s been a long and hectic week for me between work and blogger events, I have been completely wiped out and I for one can’t wait to get some rest this weekend (although I doubt that’ll actually happen). I was looking forward to being able to finally shoot some spring looks baring a little skin…but mother nature isn’t working in my favor, it is snowing…yea you heard me, it’s snowing in New York…Over It! Anyways, back to this look. If you didn’t already know, I am a complete girly girl so the only way you can get me to a baseball field is if I can take pictures on it 😉 This bomber jacket look did just the trick…sporty chic perfection. Green Aftermath…the day after St. Patrick’s Day may be a bummer for some, but for me…it’s pure bliss. Let’s break down just a few of the reasons why I am not a St. Paddy’s Day fan…A) Overcrowding in NYC {have you tried navigating the streets of Manhattan the day of any parade…let alone the St. Patrick’s Day parade? Do Not Attempt!} B) Drunk / Obnoxious people on the LIRR {cue throwing up teens + countless fights…both my trains yesterday were delayed…lovely} C) It is an excuse for everyone (irish or not) to get drunk without actually knowing the meaning behind the holiday {although my grandma definitely gave me the detailed history of St. Patrick’s Day I can’t remember it exactly, but I guarantee it wasn’t a national ‘Get Drunk’ holiday…but hey who knows} Anyways…back to something I do enjoy…colored jeans! Haha…like that segue? 😉
Happy Sunday Funday Ya’ll! I haven’t done ‘Arts + Crafts’ since I was a little Girl Scout back in the day, but when Ace Hardware wrote to me about their new 31 Days Of Color paint campaign where they picked 31 bloggers to create fun projects each using a different color from the line I knew it was time for me to unleash my inner child and get creative!
*Ace Hardware has provided free paint samples. I was also compensated for my time and this blog post. All opinions and positions expressed here are my own and do not necessarily reflect those of Ace Hardware.*
The color I received was ‘Island In The Sun‘…pretty suiting for a girl whose favorite color is purple and a girl who wishes she was writing this post from an island in the sun haha 😉 What is even more amusing is this hue of purple is pretty much identical to the color of my room! (Talk about coincidence) I actually completed two different projects with the paint kit Ace Hardware provided (it had ‘Island In The Sun’ paint + primer in one, a roller and a paint tray), so here is a list of what you will need to get the job done:
–Paint from Ace Hardware’s ‘Paint Studio’ (whatever shade is your favorite!) What I also love about this paint line is that it is a paint + primer in one! (one less thing you need to buy!)
-A Wooden Crate
-A Paint Roller
-A Paint Brush
-A Paint Tray
-An Xacto Knife (although my dad used a razor blade instead)
–White Moleskin Journal (I bought a ‘Poppin’ Journal from Staples…same idea)
My first project was to paint this cute wooden crate I got…I have been feeling artsy lately because I want to buy a nice new desk for my room to set up my blogging workshop (typically I sit on my bed with my MacBook Air, but as blogging is slowly becoming a little bit like a second full time job for me, I have been thinking a nice little office area would be ideal). This project is simple…simply pour a little paint into the paint tray…roll the roller in the paint and tap it on the tray to remove excess and then begin painting…voila!
My second project took a little more work…I used Photoshop to create a ‘Missy‘ graphic. I printed it and then my dad assisted me (because I am a total clutz and didn’t want to hurt myself) with using an Xacto Knife to cut out the center of the image, so the paper became a stencil I could tape to my journal for me to paint in…
Because the paper is so flimsy, I used a little piece of cardboard to hold down the paper as I painted within the stencil so the paint wouldn’t spread. Once I finished painting in the whole stencil in, I peeled up the tape and mission complete!
Two cute desk accessories that are great for your office whether it’s a home office or a corporate space…these personal touches will make you smile throughout the day and add a little bit of ‘You’ wherever you go.
Even my pup Charlie liked my creations 😉 Or maybe he is just nosey who knows…haha get it…knows…nosey :p

Florals for spring?…#GroundBreaking….can you guess what movie that is from? My favorite movie ‘The Devil Wears Prada‘ of course! Although the famous ice queen is based on real life Anna Wintour, after yesterday’s amazing Zoolander moment during Paris Fashion Week…Anna seemed anything but icey and I absolutely loved it! If you have no clue what I am talking about, you MUST check out how Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson took Paris Fashion Week by storm with their finale walk during the Maison Valentino show to promote the upcoming movie Zoolander 2! I never saw the first one (maybe I should get on that) but Ben was actually wearing some florals 😉 So he was my style inspiration for this post haha 😛So after going through these photos I noticed I was standing in front of a smiley face…Say Cheese 🙂 This look is perfect for spring…florals and booties? YES! It’s even great to wear to the office. I love a great A-Line skirt because to be quite honest I find them flattering on almost every figure…if you aren’t one for color, opting for a gray floral print is ideal because it’s a feminine print without being ‘too much’. I paired the skirt with a simple gray cowl neck top, black open toe booties (a great winter to spring transition shoe) + my Rebecca Minkoff Mini Mab tote.
