    Long Hair Don’t Care…

missyonmadison beauty hair brunette haircurling diy beautytips beautyguide hottools longhairdontcare dryshampoo hairspray photography fashionblog blog blogger beautybloggerHappy Thursday Loves! I decided to share with you one of my quick and easy tips to have ‘blogger’ ready for hair for outfit shoots, parties and just because…no blog required I suppose 😉

I always feel most confident when I have my ‘Victoria’s Secret’ style hair as I like to call it which in my mind simply means: loose, beautiful curls that look like a million bucks without seeming like a high maintenance hair style. It took me years to perfect the picture perfect hair that I would complain to every hair dresser I wanted, but by darn I’ve got it…only took working at a hair salon for 3 years (as a receptionist) to figure out how to properly curl my hair (guess I’m a slow learner…oops)! I am totally admitting I am far from a beauty guru and I turn to other bloggers for advice all the time, but I think now I can confidently say I found the secret to the ‘sexy hair’ style that is loose curls.missyonmadison beauty hair brunette haircurling diy beautytips beautyguide hottools longhairdontcare dryshampoo hairspray photography fashionblog blog blogger beautybloggerSo let’s start with what products I use:

    1) Hot Tools 1″ Curling Iron

    2) Tresemme Fresh Start Dry Shampoo

    3) Moroccanoil Finishing Spray

I swear by these products…first off I’ve had my Hot Tools Curling Iron for years and for $30 (I bought it on sale of course) it provides amazing results and is great quality…most hair styling tools end up not working after a lot of use, but this baby has yet to fail me. I got the 1 inch iron based on my hair length, I have long hair that is thin…consult the Hot Tools website or your hair stylist about which iron is right for your kind of hair! My dry shampoo is my savior. The Tresemme Fresh Start Dry Shampoo really gives you the bang for your buck. It usually retails at around $5, smells great and soaks up all the oil in your hair while also adding a little volume, texture and a great scent. Last but not least, in order to make my fabulous curls last me all day, I opt for Moroccanoil Finishing Spray. It’s light weight, flexible and smells delicious…I even spray it on days I let my hair dry naturally just for the fabulous scent. missyonmadison beauty hair brunette haircurling diy beautytips beautyguide hottools longhairdontcare dryshampoo hairspray photography fashionblog blog blogger beautybloggerNow I curl my hair the way I’ve been taught from my hair stylist friends…lesson one, dirty hair holds curls better than freshly washed hair. This may sound a little funky to you, especially if you are used to washing your hair every day, but I have a secret for you ladies…washing your hair every day actually causes it to produce more oil! Give your hair a day or two to breath (when I curl my hair it lasts me 2-3 days and I simply spruce it up with dry shampoo in the morning and touch up my curls). This varies obviously depending on the person, but for the most part rule of thumb…wash your hair and let it dry naturally the night before, day before or a few hours before you plan on curling it.

My steps below are based upon my hair being washed and naturally dried the day before!

    1) Spray Dry Shampoo a few inches away from the roots and if need be section off pieces to make sure you spray where you tend to get the most oily.  missyonmadison beauty hair brunette haircurling diy beautytips beautyguide hottools longhairdontcare dryshampoo hairspray photography fashionblog blog blogger beautyblogger2) Take about a 1 inch section of hair and clamp the piece around the barrel of the curling iron starting in the MIDDLE! Very important ladies, if you clamp it too close to the top or the bottom, the hair doesn’t curl or it doesn’t hold. missyonmadison beauty hair brunette haircurling diy beautytips beautyguide hottools longhairdontcare dryshampoo hairspray photography fashionblog blog blogger beautyblogger3) Begin turning the curling iron slowly gripping more of the hair as you rotate the iron up towards your root. missyonmadison beauty hair brunette haircurling diy beautytips beautyguide hottools longhairdontcare dryshampoo hairspray photography fashionblog blog blogger beautyblogger4) Hold the piece for about 10-15 seconds…missyonmadison beauty hair brunette haircurling diy beautytips beautyguide hottools longhairdontcare dryshampoo hairspray photography fashionblog blog blogger beautyblogger5) Slowly loosen up your grip on the iron to allow the piece to fall naturally.missyonmadison beauty hair brunette haircurling diy beautytips beautyguide hottools longhairdontcare dryshampoo hairspray photography fashionblog blog blogger beautyblogger6) Spray some finish spray or hair spray for extra hold…missyonmadison beauty hair brunette haircurling diy beautytips beautyguide hottools longhairdontcare dryshampoo hairspray photography fashionblog blog blogger beautybloggerAnd voila! Picture perfect hair in a few minutes flat!

Typically it takes me about 15-20 minutes to curl my whole head depending on how tight I want the curls or how finished I want it to look.missyonmadison beauty beautyblog hair hairstyle hairtips curlinghair longhairdontcare curledhair brunette beauty beautiful photography whitebathrobeHope my tips help you! Summer Beauty Essentials!

beauty beautyblog beautyblogger ubykotex michaelkorsjetsettote neutrogena sunscreen bbcream ulta eos skincare bliss fatgirlslim missyonmadisonHappy Wednesday Loves! Getting summer time ready takes more than just a killer wardrobe, it takes some ‘Must Have’ beauty essentials! While everyone has their own preference, I have my go to products that I simply can’t be without. Whether it’s skin care, cosmetics, feminine care or hair care, a girl can’t be the girl she wants to be for the day without the basic necessities! beauty beautyblog beautyblogger ubykotex michaelkorsjetsettote neutrogena sunscreen bbcream ulta eos skincare bliss fatgirlslim missyonmadisonbeauty beautyblog beautyblogger ubykotex michaelkorsjetsettote neutrogena sunscreen bbcream ulta eos skincare bliss fatgirlslim missyonmadisonNow ladies, I know mother nature can occasionally be a drag when it comes to that ‘Time Of The Month’, but U by Kotex with their New & Improved CleanWear 3D Capture Core is making that monthly experience a little bit easier. While I’m usually a tampon gal, sometimes you feel like switching things up and these pads are light, easy to use and my favorite part, they come in the cutest little wrappers…I love my ‘Pop Of Color’ even when it comes to my feminine care…I’m a bit extreme sometimes oops 😉 {Not sure if you will love it as much as me? Kotex is letting you get a sample…try it, love it, buy it…sounds like a sweet deal to me!} fatgirlslim beauty beautyproducts beautyblog missyonmadison neutrogena eos bbcream ulta ultabbcreamIn addition to some feminine care, a gal always needs to take care of her lips, face, skin and hair…duh! Fat Girl Slim by Bliss has become a favorite of mine. It firms your skin and helps reduce the look of cellulite…hey any product that can do that is a miracle in my book 😉

I love Neutrogena sunscreen products because the less oily the better. I am constantly breaking out in the summer, so if I can find a product that avoids that then I’m in! neutrogena sunscreen sprayscreen summer sunburn beauty beautyblog target beautyproducts missyonmadisonI also, unfortunately can’t leave the house without a little somethin somethin on my face. I fell in love with Ulta’s BB Cream a year ago. It used to be called a ‘Tinted Moisturizer’ and then recently repackaged it and renamed it BB Cream to cater to the hot trend in the beauty world. I love how Ulta’s BB Cream adds color to my face, blends in and covers blemishes all with a simple little amount every morning…and it has built in SPF! Score 🙂 bbcream missyonmadison ulta ultabbcream hotpinknailsKeeping my lips moisturized is also a must…EOS has got me covered. I love their packaging, which in my opinion is one of the keys to their popularity and I like the easy, light formula and fun scents and flavors they come in. lipbalm eos eoslipbalm ulta target beauty beautyblog beautyproducts missyonmadison beautybloggerAnd don’t forget about the hair. When I’m jumping in the pool or heading to the beach and easy way to get a great hairstyle is to spray a little Sea Salt Spray for easy, breezy beach waves. Then keep that look fresh with a little dry shampoo…I use it to add volume, sometimes flat summer hair needs it! tresseme dryshampoo paulmitchell seasaltspray beachwaves beauty beautyproducts beautyblog blogger missyonmadison

Now I’m off to the beach…with my essentials by my side in my favorite Michael Kors Pink Jet Set Tote…I will never get over my color obsession 🙂
