I finally made it to the Getty (ok…maybe I actually made it to the Getty like over a month ago but I am just posting this now…#oops :P) Well better late than never right? haha I went to the Getty for the first time since moving to LA with Kristi and Joel (who I haven’t seen in forever!) and took some great shots wearing a winter to spring transition look 🙂
The Getty Museum is absolutely gorgeous! While I didn’t actually check out the museum (because come on…let’s be honest…we were there just to snap photos haha typical bloggers for ya). The grounds and buildings are stunning. It was something I never would have been able to experience in NY, it was definitely a great place to shoot and I can’t wait to go back and actually experience everything the Getty has to offer (not in blogger mode lol).
Clear Blue Skies, views of Hollywood + unlimited sunshine…that’s what comes to mind when I tell my NY friends about life in LA…ok so for the most part…it’s totally true! B U T there is the occasional rain spell, wind storm (like we are currently having) + even some chilly temperatures. So what is an LA transplant who is expecting endless sunshine to do? Get personalized weather forecasts straight to her phone so she is ready to seize the day of course 😉 And now that is possible with Poncho — the first weather app tailored to YOU with cute gifs, adorable sayings + plenty of colorful graphics (and we know how much I LOVE color)!
Poncho is awesome — a cool cat who acts like your BFF and helps you answer the age old questions us gals seem to have every morning…’What should I wear today?‘. Well Poncho makes it easy! When you register for the app you put in where you work, where you play, where you live, when you wake up etc. so Poncho can custom tailor the weather forecast for the day or week based on YOU and your needs! How cool is that?!
I always encountered the problem where it would be warm where I lived but cool where I work or vice versa…now with Poncho I am able to know what the day ahead will be look — heck, Poncho even helps ladies by providing a ‘hair‘ forecast (never worry about ‘Is it going to be a frizzy hair day?‘ again)! Now you will know ahead of time — so you can cut time off your morning routine 😉
Thanks to Poncho, I knew that the day I shot these photos at the Universal City Overlook it was clear skies AND frizz free :p So now to breakdown my casual LA look (which is acceptable ‘winter wear‘ for Cali…oh how I love being here)!
Living in LA, it is practically mandatory to do a photo shoot in front of the ever so famous ‘Pink Wall‘ on Melrose (it’s on the side of the Paul Smith store). The morning I shot there, there were tons of bloggers there (even one gal shooting a music video haha). I naturally loved the backdrop because as you all know, I L O V E a good pop of color 😉 I kept my outfit pretty simple since I had such a colorful setting and a bright cobalt blue bag (seriously obsessed with this bag — I wear it all the time). My chiffon camisole is on sale now at Kohls and it is the perfect piece to layer under a blazer, sweater, cardigan or denim jacket.
I also love a chic blazer — especially this white one. Everyone wears black blazers, but a white one adds a little extra something to any look. As for my jeans, simple skinny jeans, cuffed at the bottom — I love showing a little ankle (plus I am short haha so these fit me great — short gals rejoice).
My shoes are from Carolinna Espinosa and are no longer available, but I linked to a similar style here. And my satchel is from Kenneth Cole (also no longer available — similar here).
Oh yea…my signature Ray Bans had to make an appearance duh :p
And I am on the move! Today I am off to Florida and I couldn’t be more excited! A few months ago Nordstrom + Live Nation had a huge sweepstakes to promote the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale (aka my favorite sale of the year) + who would have thunk it…I W O N 🙂
So what did I win you may ask? Two tickets for me and a guest to any Live Nation show in the country + a weekend getaway to see it — So, I decided why not go somewhere fun! Universal Orlando! My dad is flying and meeting me in Orlando so we can head to Universal Studios (I haven’t been since I was a child :p) + we are going to see Amy Schumer + Aziz Ansari in Tampa!
Another fun thing I wanted to share in today’s post? (Besides this casual OOTD)…Since this weekend is going to be the first time I am seeing my dad since our road trip here from NY, I wanted to finally share some of the photos from the journey!
I seriously can’t wait to see my dad! I am a total daddy’s girl and after dropping him at LAX once we arrived in LA I cried…for a while (hey maybe I am slightly overly emotional but this is my first time on my own). I am super excited about seeing him and even more excited about creating some new memories — I mean we are going to Universal and I need to see the Minions (fun fact…I am o b s e s s e d with those little guys haha!)
Don’t Mondays just stink…waking up early, wishing it was still the weekend (the long hour commute to work…oh wait that’s just me :p). Well I may have a case of the Monday blues but at least this bright look perks things up a bit! I am actually pretty excited about this look…why you may ask…well because it is the first time I ever wore / shopped at Uniqlo! My blouse + vest are both from Uniqlo and I am officially obsessed with their stuff!I have always heard everyone rave about Uniqlo but being able to actually shop there and wear their stuff I am truly in love. Great quality at an affordable price that’s something I am all about! This quilted vest is still available and is on sale now, but my sleeveless blouse is only available in stores (similar style here).
I have a thing for nude heels, booties you name it, I wear it 😉 (has a nice ring to it doesn’t it haha). Nude footwear is just so chic in my opinion and matches with everything, so these nude lace up booties were the perfect addition to this outfit (similar).
Something else I am currently obsessed with…this oversized monogram necklace. I kinda stalked and saw a few different bloggers wearing it and I simply had to have it so I actually found this one via Etsy but BaubleBar has a similar style in multiple colors here!
