    So time to be honest…swimwear has been my least favorite thing to shop for…why? Because nothing truly tests your confidence like slipping in to a bikini or one piece and wanting to look ‘sexy‘, ‘fit‘ and ‘beautiful‘. Especially in today’s day and age, it’s really tough to feel like a ‘million bucks‘ with models, celebrities and social media stars (cough cough Jen Selter) looking like they spend their entire lives at the gym…drinking Kale smoothies and doing the latest exercise routine to take over the country. Well truth time…that’s not me, nor will it ever be me. I work out because I want to binge eat movie theater popcorn at least once a week…I hate Kale and I am A OK with jogging on the treadmill (I prefer to spend my money on shoes as opposed to the latest workout craze :p)!

    My personal body issues have followed me ever since I was pre-teen. I was teased, bullied and always made to dream of having that ‘picture perfect’ figure. Well news flash…perfection doesn’t exist and years later I am finally beginning to feel confident in the skin I am in! Do I have moments where I worry about how I look? ABSOLUTELY!     Someone has a case of the M O N D A Y ‘ S…ok maybe it’s me and maybe you too? :p I had one heck of a weekend + I already can’t wait for the upcoming 3 day weekend that is just 5 days away (let the countdown begin) because I need some R&R like nobody’s business 😉 (got to look forward to something, right? haha)

    Saturday, I headed to the famous Laugh Factory on Sunset (still can’t believe Sunset is only 5 minutes from where I live #surreal)…since laughter is honestly the best medicine for when you are feeling drained or need a little pick me up! Yesterday I headed to Kristi’s house for a Vera Bradley themed brunch to celebrate the launch of their new candle, soaps + fragrance sets!     Here are some of my current favorites from the brunch:

    Back to my outfit…My brother shot this look on me back in May when we were visiting USC (in true Missy fashion I needed to share my ‘college‘ style even though I graduated college years ago haha!) But…if I was still in school…this would be a great casual look!

    Every gal needs a Preppy Striped Button Down like this one (similar)! Wear it buttoned up for a more polished look for the office or an interview, or wear it open with an easy camisole like this one for a more casual look with jeans, shorts or over a dress or skirt!

    Since this was shot back in the spring, it was sandal season…although I still wear sandals like these (similar) even now during winter in LA (it ain’t NY cold so why not)! These sandals are from J. Crew Factory, but these silver Birkenstocks are really similar and very comfortable (is it bad I want to buy these too? #oops)!

    My sunnies are from Nordstrom (similar here) + my cobalt blue bag is Kenneth Cole (currently sold out) but similar options below!

    I paired this look with taupe heeled booties (taupe is one of my favorite colors because it’s so close to nude and matches well with any outfit) + this fuzzy creature of a handbag (similar).     White Hot Summer Into Fall…

    Hello September! (hey better late than never right?) I can’t believe after this Labor Day Weekend that summer is ‘officially‘ over…I say ‘officially’ because in my mind, summer is eternal in LA isn’t it? I am looking forward to continued sunshine and days by the pool…just saying :p But anyway, I digress. The old saying goes, ‘No White After Labor Day‘…well as we know from pretty much every blog post I have done in the fall + the winter, I definitely tend to commit a fashion faux paux or two around that old rule.

The dress I am wearing in this post is actually on clearance from Kohls right now (under $30…yes please!) See what is great about getting white dresses to wear in fall, is that now is the ideal time to shop them!

    Labor Day Weekend + End Of Summer Sales are in full effect, and since they are considered a ‘seasonal‘ item, no one is thinking to buy them now. I say stock up now and layer a classic cardigan, denim jacket, or blazer over it for fall (why not!).
