“In New York you are always looking for a job, a boyfriend or an apartment” said the ever so fabulous Carrie Bradshaw. Now while I would like to think I have a little ‘Carrie’ in me, that quote from SATC is a little different for me…replace ‘job‘ with a new pair of shoes + replace ‘apartment‘ with a great place to shoot an outfit post 😉 (we can keep the search for a boyfriend for now haha). So when I got this black tulle skirt from Bliss Tulle in the mail, I knew it was meant to be shot at one of Carrie’s favorite spots…the New York Public Library! Any opportunity I get to channel SJP I do it!
Today’s post isn’t just about my love for Carrie Bradshaw, I am sharing a great NEW giveaway with you all to get you the perfect ‘Pop Of Color’ for spring 😉 You can Enter To Win the red satchel I am wearing! Perfect way to prep for spring weather huh? <3
Hello Lover…I’m having a Carrie Bradshaw moment today with this ‘Carrie-esq’ ‘J’adore’ look…if you are a Sex & The City fanatic like myself, you most likely remember that fabulous tulle skirt ensemble paired with a ‘J’adore Dior’ tee. While my tee may not be Dior, in my mind…I am Carrie. I borrowed this tulle skirt from my blogger gal pal Sarah…I saw it and right away envisioned Carrie aka SJP. I have always been a huge Sex & The City fanatic. I dream of being proposed to with a pair of Manolo’s and just having ‘a really big closet’…it may be a fantasy but hey a girl has to dream every now and again right? My clutch and shoes are both Michael Kors. I love the snakeskin print to add a little edge to this ultra girly look and of course I had to wear some pink bowed pumps to really make a statement and dress like Carrie. Unfortunately these beauties are no longer available but I found similar ones from Paris Hilton. My tee is far from Dior…it’s from Old Navy…so I am Carrie Bradshaw on a budget 😉 I also had to add a little bling with this pink and blue statement necklace! Now if you don’t mind, I’m off to plan some of my outfits for some weekend dress up 😉 Time for more outfit shoots and I am heading out to the vineyards Sunday to go grape stomping and make some wine…I don’t think Carrie would wear this to stomp grapes but hey who knows :p Shop My Look<3
Happy Friday Loves! I feel like the summer weeks are flying by and I don’t want them to leave. I had a lovely day yesterday with my new Long Island blogger friends, Sarah and Kelly…let’s just say blogging was the least of what we discussed. So it’s Sarah and Kelly’s new goal to set me up with some decent guys…I’ve never shared this but…I’ve been doing the whole online dating thing on and off for a little while now and it’s safe to say it’s been…interesting.I tend to pick the wrong guys or maybe as Carrie Bradshaw says ‘I do not pick the wrong guys, they pick me’…either way haha dating has become quite the challenge, for me at least. So while I search for Mr. Right, I will stick with talking about what I know best…fashion. My paint splattered dress was another Charlotte Russe find (did you see my neon one yesterday…I got both of these beauties, buy one get one 50% off…score). It’s no longer available but I found a similar dress at Zappos (with an amazing print!)My white cross body bag was a Saks Off Fifth find from Badgley Mischka (I found a similar one from Rebecca Minkoff) and my block sandals are from Old Navy…I love the unexpected reaction when people ask ‘where are your shoes from?’ and I respond…Old Navy 😉 (BTW they are on sale now!)Shop My Look Below<3
I decided to share the spotlight with one of the most important parts of my life: my dog Charlie! My dad being the brilliant guy he is suggested I do a photo shoot with my little munchkin and right away I reminisced of a Miss Charlotte York (Sex and The City) and her King Charles Cavalier Spaniel named ‘Elizabeth Taylor‘. My look was inspired by Charlotte because tell me you couldn’t see Charlotte walking through central park in bright blue pumps and a tweed blazer…I sure could 🙂
If you ask me, sometimes you need to start from the ground up…in life and in dressing. What do I mean exactly?
In the words of Rebecca Bloomwood from one of my favorite movies ‘Confessions Of A Shopaholic‘, “Consider your shoe and investment…everything is resting upon it”. The shoes are an essential part of the outfit and each shoe must earn it’s way into your wardrobe (I just love how I can make something like shoes sound oh so serious using quotes from movies 😉 ), anyway, a good pair of shoes is hard to find, and when you are going to invest in a pair, you want a pair that is versatile, gets a lot of use and will go with practically anything…introducing my new term ‘LBS’ Little Black Shoe.
A LBD or Little Black Dress may be a go to for ladies everywhere when it comes to what to wear for any occasion, but what about the footwear? Our go to shoe is 9 times out of 10 a classic black pump whether it’s leather, suede, patent leather etc. Black is classic, Black is chic, Black is never going out of style…LBS, always a safe bet!
In honor of the LBS, I had to put together a ’round-up’ of my favorite pairs that will always be a great investment! (And yes there are Manolo’s and Choo’s involved…making it a true investment!) 🙂
