TGIF! I’m excited for the Labor Day weekend, but I’m also sad that summer is coming to an end (don’t worry, my summer looks will be transitioning to fall…what can I say, I love showing some skin!). I love this chambray look for a laid back and relaxing weekend filled with trips to the beach, BBQs and of course…shopping the fabulous Labor Day Weekend sales (I’ll be sharing my shopping list tomorrow!) So let’s break down the casual Friday look. My chambray pullover (which is great for fall) is from Old Navy. My white cotton shorts…Abercrombie…pretty sure all my shorts are from them, they just fit me perfectly! I love these denim espadrille flats! Once again, they are from NYLA and YOU can score them at 15% off at NYLAShoes.com by using code ‘MISSY15’ at checkout! Get em while they are hot (P.S. they are only $19!).Pretty obvious that I’m in LOVE with this Mini Mab Tote from Rebecca Minkoff. I wore it the other day with my mint ensemble and it is the perfect size for a day trip or a night out. I also love the metallic color since it matches with everything!I love the two shots above…any blogger will tell you, we are extremely hard on ourselves and are quite picky when it comes to photos of us…but when you have those moments when you think ‘damn I look good’…that’s what makes blogging and sharing our fashions with you even better! Once again rocking my rose necklace…isn’t it statement making? Anytime I want to dress up a basic look I wear it! Shop My Look<3
Happy Friday Loves! I got a special little package the other day from Lysse and I couldn’t wait to style this top…yes ladies and gents this ‘white dress’ is actually the Lysse Cold Shoulder Top with Inner Control Tank. I decided to be adventurous and order it in a larger size so I can rock it as a dress AND as a top…versatility…that’s the best thing to incorporate into your closet 🙂 My necklace is from Sparkle Republic Jewelry and I’d say it definitely sparkles 😉 One of the things I love about blogging? Getting to try out new brands and showcase them on my site! My shoes are from…drum roll please…Payless! I love nude strappy sandals! They are gorgeous for every occasion and nude elongates your legs! My neon satchel is from Steve Madden, while it’s no longer available, I found a similar one from Michael Kors! Sorry but I love my mirrored aviators…definitely wearing them year round and I’m convinced I look bad a** with them 😉 Or at least I’d like to think so! I hope you all have a fabulous weekend…I’m not quite sure what I have planned yet, but I am attending a night of comedy later tonight at my client’s bar & grill ‘Light House On The Runway‘…will you guys do me a favor? Follow Light House On The Runway on Instagram & Facebook 🙂 Greatly Appreciated! I run their social media & built their website!Shop My Look <3
Happy Thursday Loves! I decided to share with you one of my quick and easy tips to have ‘blogger’ ready for hair for outfit shoots, parties and just because…no blog required I suppose 😉
I always feel most confident when I have my ‘Victoria’s Secret’ style hair as I like to call it which in my mind simply means: loose, beautiful curls that look like a million bucks without seeming like a high maintenance hair style. It took me years to perfect the picture perfect hair that I would complain to every hair dresser I wanted, but by darn I’ve got it…only took working at a hair salon for 3 years (as a receptionist) to figure out how to properly curl my hair (guess I’m a slow learner…oops)! I am totally admitting I am far from a beauty guru and I turn to other bloggers for advice all the time, but I think now I can confidently say I found the secret to the ‘sexy hair’ style that is loose curls. So let’s start with what products I use:
I swear by these products…first off I’ve had my Hot Tools Curling Iron for years and for $30 (I bought it on sale of course) it provides amazing results and is great quality…most hair styling tools end up not working after a lot of use, but this baby has yet to fail me. I got the 1 inch iron based on my hair length, I have long hair that is thin…consult the Hot Tools website or your hair stylist about which iron is right for your kind of hair! My dry shampoo is my savior. The Tresemme Fresh Start Dry Shampoo really gives you the bang for your buck. It usually retails at around $5, smells great and soaks up all the oil in your hair while also adding a little volume, texture and a great scent. Last but not least, in order to make my fabulous curls last me all day, I opt for Moroccanoil Finishing Spray. It’s light weight, flexible and smells delicious…I even spray it on days I let my hair dry naturally just for the fabulous scent. Now I curl my hair the way I’ve been taught from my hair stylist friends…lesson one, dirty hair holds curls better than freshly washed hair. This may sound a little funky to you, especially if you are used to washing your hair every day, but I have a secret for you ladies…washing your hair every day actually causes it to produce more oil! Give your hair a day or two to breath (when I curl my hair it lasts me 2-3 days and I simply spruce it up with dry shampoo in the morning and touch up my curls). This varies obviously depending on the person, but for the most part rule of thumb…wash your hair and let it dry naturally the night before, day before or a few hours before you plan on curling it.
My steps below are based upon my hair being washed and naturally dried the day before!
1) Spray Dry Shampoo a few inches away from the roots and if need be section off pieces to make sure you spray where you tend to get the most oily. 2) Take about a 1 inch section of hair and clamp the piece around the barrel of the curling iron starting in the MIDDLE! Very important ladies, if you clamp it too close to the top or the bottom, the hair doesn’t curl or it doesn’t hold. 3) Begin turning the curling iron slowly gripping more of the hair as you rotate the iron up towards your root. 4) Hold the piece for about 10-15 seconds…5) Slowly loosen up your grip on the iron to allow the piece to fall naturally.6) Spray some finish spray or hair spray for extra hold…And voila! Picture perfect hair in a few minutes flat!
Typically it takes me about 15-20 minutes to curl my whole head depending on how tight I want the curls or how finished I want it to look.Hope my tips help you! Share your feedback with me by commenting below! I’m always open to hear more tricks of the trade 🙂
Happy Thursday Loves! I’m sharing another one of my easy, breezy Hamptons looks today…because I simply can’t get enough of my great Old Navy finds or my Hamptons backdrop! My dress and block sandals (which I am obsessed with) are both from Old Navy! While this dress is no longer available, I found another similar one from Old Navy don’t you worry! My bag has been a favorite of mine because it is the ideal summer bag. I’ve gotten so many compliments on this Dominie Luxury tote and the best part is that it is affordable ladies! I realized Louis Vuitton makes a similar one for triple the price…so yea, I will go with the affordable version 😉 My bling is from Capwell + Co…I have a serious purple obsession (my birthstone is amethyst btw) so I instantly fell in love with these purple pieces from Capwell during their sample sale! While this is in no way part of my diet and fitness plan lol, this Gelato which I split with my little sister AKA my photographer was delicious…it was the only place that would accept a credit card…fair warning, when hitting the Hamptons have cash handy, the little shops and boutiques only accept cash…oops!Sometimes all I ever want to wear during the summer is a simple dress and this is a fav of mine. I love how it can be dressed up or down and it is flattering on every figure! And yes people this is my pose haha It’s hard to figure out what works for you, I personally think this pose works hence why it’s an essential part of every shoot haha!Shop My Look Below<3
Happy Monday Loves! This photo depicts my weekend to a T…lounging by the pool! I hope all you lovelies had a fantastic Fourth Of July Weekend, I know I sure did. I spent almost everyday at the beach or in the pool…what more can a gal ask for?!One of my favorite things about summer is slipping in to a neon bikini and getting my tan on by the pool. This yellow neon top is from Old Navy. So many girls are asking me for the best bikini deals and I always say Target and Old Navy…every season those are my go to’s and they never disappoint. Now to get to my bling. I am wearing something old, something new, something borrowed (kinda) and something blue. Ok, my cobalt blue nail polish is called ‘Butler Please‘ from Essie, it seems to be a huge hit. Some of my bling is from Tiffany, Macy’s and Ariel Gordon Jewelry! And this fabulous beaded bracelet along with a beaded ankle bracelet below is from Sandrea Jewels! They are handmade on Long Island (I love supporting fellow Long Islanders) and they are the perfect poolside or beach accessory. They were so sweet and gifted me this bracelet and the ankle bracelet below…AND they gave me an extra ankle bracelet to give away to one lucky reader!
