Temps are heating up in LA and that means…yes you guessed it, dress time! I normally live in dresses year round, but now I live in them even more so because of the warm weather. I am not one to wear sleeveless dresses without covering my arms (I guess my arms are an area I typically like to cover) but wearing a denim jacket in warm temps is not going to happen…so my solution? Styling it on your shoulders! Ok, to be honest I have seen this trend with blazers, moto jackets + more for years but felt I couldn’t pull it off…till I actually tried. Side note: Never be afraid to step outside your comfort zone when it comes to fashion, amazing things can happen that ultimately shape your personal style!
My dress is from one of my favorite online boutiques, Shop The Mint and it’s currently sold out but I linked to similar styles below (plus usually you can add items from their website to a ‘wishlist‘ and they will come back on the site for purchase relatively soon)!
My denim jacket is from Old Navy + currently On SALE! Who doesn’t love a good sale?! This jacket has lasted me years + is honestly a staple every gal should have in their closet! Dress it up or down, it is perfect for any occasion.
Finally, a Monday I am excited about! I don’t know about you, but a three day work week sounds beyond thrilling if you ask me hehe :p I spent the weekend putting together some amazing gift guides for ya’ll – ICYMI check them out HERE + I began putting together some great looks for the holiday season! One look I shared last week is perfect for Thanksgiving with friends or family + today’s look is another great option for Thanksgiving wear as well.
I will be staying in LA for Turkey Day this year…which gives me extra time to take advantage of some great Black Friday + Cyber Monday steals + deals (which are starting even earlier this year, leaving more time to shop)! I will put together a full guide by Thursday so you can shop after your yummy feast (oh how I love turkey + stuffing).
One Black Friday / Cyber Monday sale I am excited to shop is Old Navy’s! While I am not sure of what their promo will be yet – it is always a good one year after year. Old Navy has been one of my favorite go-to stores for head to toe style at an affordable price point for years now. Whether it is their chic outerwear, on trend shoes or cozy knits + sweaters, Old Navy always has what I am looking for…including what to wear for the holiday season or how they like to call it, HoliYAYs!
One of my current favorites of the season is this fall fresh look I put together thanks to great styles at Old Navy.
I have always been ‘mad for plaid‘ so when I spotted this plaid button down top in a soft washed fabric I knew I needed it! What I love about this blouse is that you can wear it various ways. Since I decided to pair it with this suede button up skirt, I felt tying it in the front would add a little ‘somethin somethin‘ to the look 😉
I also styled it loose with a pair of jeans + heeled booties (stay tuned for that look). This skirt is something I typically wouldn’t have went for but I decided to give it a shot + I am so glad I did! It comes in maroon, navy + a camel hue – all great options for fall occasions + get-togethers.
Velvet is all the rage this season! From dresses, to bags, to blouses + even shoes…this material is my favorite since it is festive for the holidays + is so chic to style.
I’ve always felt that Old Navy had the best selection of ‘on trend’ shoes for an affordable price, and these velvet ankle strap sandals are no exception. These babies are under $35 + come in maroon, black + leopardprint. Style them with jeans, skirts, dresses + more…the best part? They are comfortable!!
Since I always like to throw in a designer bag with my look to mix + match high and low, I paired this look with my Chanel.
These sunnies retail for under $100 + come in various colors…plus they are amazing quality! From Khloe Kardashian to Jessie James Decker, Diff Eyewear has partnered with the top trend setters to create stylish capsule collections that have sunnies you’ll legit drool over (I sure am haha) 🙂
Ready to stock up on your fall into winter essentials?
S P R I N G is H E R E! You know what that means? Embracing the hottest trends everyone is rocking this season…one of them being NAUTICAL!! I have always been a fan of the nautical trend. I think it is just so chic whether it is a striped dress or a striped button down paired with crisp whites like I did here, nautical vibes are the perfect way to #SayHi to spring!
Old Navy is embracing the Nautical trend as well this season, but with a twist…making it bold + bright with pops of neon! I am loving their striped button downs that are great for work or play (linked some of my favorites below).
I also have always been a huge fan of Old Navy’s Rockstar Mid-Rise Skinny Jeans. They are literally the only pair of jeans that fits me PERFECTLY…I have been obsessed with them for years, they are pretty much the only jeans I wear (safe to say I stock up on them during any Old Navy sale, which is relatively often, another reason why I LOVE Old Navy :p). Plus, as you can see from a lot of my other outfits here on my blog, white jeans are a must of mine 😉
Can’t have a great spring outfit without the perfect accessories!
I am always game for a good P O P of Color so I styled this look with one of my favorite cobalt blue bags + my cobalt RayBans!
Shoe wise I opted for a spring essential of mine, espadrille wedges!! Comfy, cute + an easy go-to for any look!
*Thank you to Old Navy for sponsoring this post + #SayHi to Spring with new styles available now at Old Navy!*
Happy Monday Babes ♥ I am so excited to share this shoot because I finally spotted one of the most popular places to snap photos at in LA…the Made In LA sign over in WeHo! It’s funny after I moved out of WeHo + to Burbank, I found all of the cool spots to shoot at there haha oh well, guess that just means weekend field trips to West Hollywood! :p
Anyways, another reason I am loving today’s post is because as you may know, I LOVE white jeans year round, especially for summer…and especially when they are paired with stripes! This is one of my favorite affordable combos! My striped tank is just $10 from Target (here) + my jeans are on sale from Old Navy!
I can’t get enough of this striped Merona top from Target. Crazy to think it’s become one of my favorite summer tops considering it’s only $10 (I am stocking up on this style of tank in a variety of prints + colors it fits so well and it is such great quality)!
I feel similarly about my Old Navy Rockstar Jeans. For years they have been my go-to without fail. They have survived countless washes, date nights, weekend adventures + traveling cross country…they are truly my favorite pair of jeans + I stocked up on them in every color 🙂
These black ankle strap heels are perfect for any occasion. I found them on clearance at DSW years ago but found a similar style at a low price point from Oasap (here).
My black sunnies were a J Crew find but found that this RayBan style is verysimilar 🙂
My yellow hobo bag is from Hayden Harnett (no longer available)…I believe they are ‘rebranding‘ but I found similar yellow bags below!
Perfectly Imperfect…that’s me! I have been stressed beyond belief the past couple of weeks between transitioning to a new apartment and town, to deciding to expand my career goals to find my ‘perfect’ fit, to exploring all LA has to offer by playing tour guide to my friend visiting from NY, my schedule has been insane and I am happy to finally have a second to relax and just breathe. Sometimes it’s hard when you are constantly moving to just take a moment to collect your thoughts and focus…I was in desperate need of a moment to myself and am so thrilled to finally have it haha After having a ‘mini breakdown’ with my friend on the way to see James Cordon (which we were later turned away from because they were ‘at capacity’ ugh so annoying) she stressed an important point to me…everyone gets overwhelmed, everyone needs to freak out, cry, break down + breathe for a second…I try so hard to keep everything together and looking pristine from the outside because who wants to seem weak and vulnerable right? My fear of looking like a failure in turn is driving my nuts…yup after a heart to heart with my LI sister from another mister (shout out to my little Santa — yup her name is Santa like Santa Claus…she’s just as jolly too haha :p) it hit me that it’s ok to ask for help, it’s ok to freak out and everyone needs a good cry ♥ Now that I let it all out, it’s back to get myself back on track…sometimes venting and letting out what’s bugging you helps…or at least it’s been a huge help to me. I need to start a new cooking + fitness routine (I was totally neglecting that the past couple of months since I was beyond swamped at work). I actually am slowly but surely learning how to be domestic in my new apartment and am beyond thrilled to have my peaceful, humble abode that is all mine♥ Living alone is a dream (although my friend has been staying with me the past 2 weeks haha helping me settle in). I love having my own space + the ability to have peace and quiet to focus on my career goals and my blog which I have been slacking on lately, not gunna even try to lie :p
My outfit is perfectly imperfect…much like me at the moment. It’s simple, casual + is a mix of trends. I LOVE plaid year round, but especially for summer even though it occasionally comes off looking like a picnic table cloth haha! I paired it with simple white shorts…my go-to pick for summer (pretty much an essential for every gal TBH).
Since I am always on the go, I tend to love larger bags and this Vera Bradley cross body satchel is great for that! It can be worn as a shoulder bag or as a satchel and has room for my Macbook Air, makeup, snacks (even a back up pair of shoes)!
My booties are from Go Jane and while this style is no longer available, I found a similar style from them (here) that hits the summer booties trend right on the head!
