Holiday Dressing…Sequins

Happy Monday Lovers! Today I’m kicking off a new ‘Guide’ series on the blog…I’ve already begun posting ‘Holiday Gift Guides’ to help you guys find the perfect gifts for your loved ones this holiday season but now comes the fun part…’How To Dress For The Holidays!’ Dressing for the holidays is always a tricky thing…you never know how fancy / dressed up to be and what should you wear to stand out without over doing it while still being respectful to your family members or friends whom you are spending the holiday season with? Well I’ve come up with a few different solutions starting with this lovely look featuring a statement making sequin skirt from Lord & Taylor available here on sale!To make this sequin skirt a little less dress I styled it with a peach button down blouse from Old Navy (similar one available from Tibi here. The best part? The button down can be worn for work as well so it’s not like your buying a blouse to only be worn once for a holiday dinner! I love any piece that can serve multiple purposes 😉 My holiday hair do? Simple yet chic…you can get my look by following my ‘Long Hair Don’t Care’ hair tutorial here! Now to break down my accessories…I love signature pieces of bling for every day life as well as holiday dressing. In this look I’m rocking a rose gold Marc by Marc Jacobs watch (which would make an awesome gift for the fashionista in your life BTW!) + a signature initial bangle (similar versions here + here…both make great gifts as well).My bag is a classic tote style from the Neiman Marcus collection from Last Call Neiman Marcus. It comes in a variety of colors but for this look I decided brown would be perfect (once again Thanksgiving festive but also practical to wear to the office or on the weekend). These heels are an oldie but a goodie…the Coach ‘Lavania’ Heel. They come in two different hues (both perfect for fall) black and taupe…you can shop them here from 6pm. (P.S. Happy Weekend Lovers! Time for another Weekend Wish List / Holiday Gift Guide! Every fashionista loves a little bling at any age and rather than going with the signature birth stone or initial or monogram…why not think a little outside the box and buy something a little spiritual yet personal at the same time…their zodiac sign! Even if someone doesn’t believe in horoscopes, I find it’s always an interesting little treat to see what someones zodiac sign says about them. Whether you check updates about your sign religiously or if you just simply know the basics about your sign, a chic necklace, ring or bracelet is an easy go to for the holiday season when it comes to gift giving. If you are looking to make the gift a little more special, why not find some interesting information about the person who you are gifting’s sign. Most book stores have some facts about every sign or you can even google and type up or hand write on some nice stationary a little about that particular sign. Sky’s the limit 😉

Happy Friday Lovers! Today I’m ‘Back Packing’ and I am not talking about through Europe…I’m referring to this fabulous suede back pack from Last Call Neiman Marcus. After leaving elementary school oh so many years ago, I definitely never planned on rocking the one strap back pack again in this life time…and yes the only wear to rock a back pack is with the one strap…who two straps anymore, for real? 😉 Well I fell in love with this little knapsack when I spotted it while shopping for shoes (I always get distracted while shopping…oops…typical girl problem). Back to my first topic…back packing through Europe…while I love to travel and hopefully I will get to do more of it in the years to come (can you say New Years Resolution anyone?) One thing I am truly terrified about is back packing through Europe…I suppose I’ve seen one too many horror flicks and am convinced that I would get into some tragic mess if I actually conquered some courage and went for it…so for now rocking a back pack is the first step haha!My top and skirt are both from BCBG at Lord & Taylor. I love the whole A-Symmetrical skirt trend for fall (even if I will be freezing in it) and why not be matchy matchy with a chic cropped top like this one. I dressed down these pieces in this post but I actually dressed them up a few weeks ago here.My baby blue faux leather moto jacket is actually from Kohls…like I tell everyone, don’t under estimate affordable fashion…anything is possible…like this amazing jacket! So like I mentioned my back pack is from Last Call Neiman Marcus and you can shop it here (on sale now!) Then to make this look real old school…some chuck taylors! I have had these silver converse for years and figured I’d let them see the light of day once again 😉 While these ones are no longer available I found similar pairs here + here. In The Village…

Happy Thursday Lovers! Today’s post has a fun backdrop because I teamed up with Perrier water to promote their new ‘street art’ inspired bottle design! I searched high and low on Long Island to find some funky street art and bam I found it…in the village…Huntington Village that is! When I hear the term ‘street art’ I would naturally gravitate towards NYC, Brooklyn or Queens, but my lovely Long Island surprised me with this awesome artwork painted on the side of a bar a half hour from my house. This is one village that isn’t part of the Manhattan social scene, but it definitely is the party time hot spot on the island!It was freezing when I shot this look…like the first day of winter cold…and this was two weeks ago…do you feel my pain yet? So over the cold and the season just started! While I am not a fan of winter weather, something I am a fan of is faux fur vests like this one from Karen Kane (similar available from Chicwish here). I love adding a faux fur vest to any look…what gal doesn’t want to feel edgy, feisty and fabulous right?I wore a simple white Old Navy sweater under the vest…black and white…you can never go wrong…oh yeah and I added some bling: Elephant Necklace & Initial Triangle Necklace (both of which make amazing gifts btw!) As for my arm party…I always gravitate towards my gold Michael Kors watch and this simple Marc Jacobs disc bangle. These pieces of bling go with any outfit and are perfect for fall layering! So in addition to my white sweater and my black faux fur vest another fall essential that I am all about is vegan leather leggings like these ones I’m wearing from Lysse! They are super comfortable, totally on trend and best of all? They can be dressed up or down something I am always about 😉 Once again…mirrored aviators and the new Perrier Street Art water bottles!I bought this Louis Vuitton Neverfull as a Christmas gift to myself last year (hey that’s what happens when you get bad holiday gifts…prevent that by shopping my holiday gift guides here, here & here. And these shoes are definitely a favorite of mine for fall. I have worn them a few times both with skirts and with pants: here, here & here….what can I say when I find a pair of comfortable and stylish shoes, I stick with them!P.S.
