After being in Cali for a little over 2 months now, I have officially found one of my favorite spots…Malibu 😉 Naturally I would have champagne wishes + caviar dreams about one of the most expensive areas of Cali haha So while I may not be able to afford living there just yet (trust me, the second I do…Madison Malibu will be finding me my dream home :p I hope you guys are as obsessed with MDLA as I am because I new season is just around the corner and my boo thang Madison is making an appearance a few times throughout the season!) Anyways I digress…I popped over to Malibu with Ali to shoot this head to toe affordable look where each piece retails for $80 or under! Ummm AMAZING right?
I had wayyyy too much fun creating this shopping collage for today’s post. If you aren’t already familiar with RedBubble.com, I suggest now is the time to do so because they have the most awesomewall decor, throw pillows, notebooks, phone cases and more all with your favorite prints, movie quotes, tag lines and pretty much anything your heart has desired…literally anything that popped into my head I typed into the search box and RedBubble had products matching the description <3
Naturally my favorites include…a ‘More Issues Than Vogue’ notebook + a Christian Louboutin inspired throw pillow 😉 But some of my colorful favs that are perfect for Back To School (crazy how it is right around the corner…I suppose since I have been out of school for a few years it’s hard to remember when exactly the season starts + it appears the prepping process starts sooner and sooner every year).
RedBubble actually sent me a few goodies which I am super pumped about because they are bright, colorful and instantly uplift my mood no matter what the day brings!
Oh hey what’s up hello…don’t you love this little mint dress I put on for show 😉 OK that was my attempt at raping hehe How did I do? :p If you didn’t already know, I am a HUGE rap + hip hop fan…it’s one of my many obsessions, along with shoes, bright colors and of course summer dresses like this mint pleated number from ShopTheMint.com! I love working with Shop The Mint because they seriously sell everything I wish to have in my closet…(ICYMI here are two other outfits I wore Shop The Mint for :: here + here)
It’s crazy to think I have been living here in LA for a little over 2 months now. Every morning I wake up to sunshine, great weather and oh yea…plenty of traffic :p Besides the traffic part sucking, Cali is indeed pretty awesome. I get to have a new backdrop for my colorful outfits and I can turn my beach wear into ‘going out’ wear which is exactly what I did today with this turquoise cover up from Liz and Honey! When I got this in the mail I knew I would be turning it into a dress (that drastic v plunging neckline is ideal for date night don’t ya think?) Plus it is the perfect piece to wear for a day at the beach and then an impromptu happy hour or dinner!
Nothing makes me happier than testing out new hair and skin products by having my very own ‘spa day’. Since moving to LA from NY the change in climate has caused me to A) Break out yet get dry skin at the same time and B) Moisturize my hair and give it a little LA style refresh! Well luckily Dove came to my rescue with the best budget friendly hair and skin care options that you can find at your local drug store!
Dove sent me tons of awesome goodies that my roommate / photographer Ali and I had plenty of fun testing out :p Maybe a little too much fun…oops!
While I have pretty straight hair, the Quench Absolute collection was A) Perfect to add moisture and life back into my hair + B) Was perfect for Ali to use to style her hair (she has coarse curly hair so these products were a total life saver for her)! The shampoo, conditioner and styling products all smell delicious…so much so that I kept wanting to add more to my hair because although I achieved the style I was going for, I couldn’t stop sniffing it haha Don’t you love when drug store beauty buys smell way better than the super expensive products? #BestMomentEver
The Restoration Mask has been an absolute life saver for me. I love how smooth and shiny my hair looks after using it and it can be used as often as you want without overdoing your hair. The same goes for the Supreme Creme Serum, it can be applied to wet or dry hair and includes Glycerin to nourish the hair.
My skin has gone totally off track since moving. Some days it is clear and smooth and other days I am breaking out everywhere…so I tend to over dry my skin with toners + clarifying products to clear up the acne and in the interim I am leaving my skin craving moisture and hydration. The Dove Summer Care series provides a light and fresh feeling without making my skin oily while still providing the moisture my skin needs! It’s a win/win…and oh yeah…it smells amazing as well duh!
And then the last Dove product in my skin care arsenal? Dove Advanced Care deodorant! I actually keep it in my bag so I have it everywhere I go so I always smell fresh and feel clean. It offers 48 hour protection and even after a busy work day, still smells fantastic.
