Winter Wear…

Why hello there and Happy Friday! It was brought to my attention by my mother dearest that she finds it ‘~~annoying~~‘ when I write ‘Hello Lovers’ or ‘Happy (insert day) Lovers’ at the beginning of all of my blog posts so I’m going to attempt to switch things up (because mom knows best after all…right?). Well that little comment A) made me laugh / smile because she actually reads my blog + B) made me wonder what is one thing that drives my readers’ mom’s nuts that they do? Is it a phrase or word you gals use? Is it a certain type of food you like to eat? Is it a musician you like? The possibilities are endless and I’d LOVE for you to share with me what bugs your mama dukes (hey if we ~~can’t~~ laugh and joke about it who else will?) :p

Ok, so besides discussing what irritates our mothers, let’s take a moment to break down a new winter outfit (that yes is FINALLY weather appropriate) 😉 Yes, I acknowledge that some of the outfits I share aren’t ideal for the cool temperatures this winter has brought to NY, but hey like I said…I wish it was spring/summer year round #SorryNotSorry My love for an Old Navy cable knit sweater has become quite apparent this week on the blog (I wore this brown one on Wednesday here + I wore the baby blue one yesterday here)…I guess you can say a classic cable knit sweater has become a winter staple for me! It can be dressed up or down and truly keeps me cozy at all times…which is essential for this bitter cold weather which I so desperately need to escape haha (can you say vacation?!)I always wear white when I want, how I want because I rarely ~~follow~~ the rules (hey if I did it would only be worn a few months out of the year and I would miss it dearly). So white skinny jeans and a white puffer vest (which I am selling on my Poshmark here) were bound to happen…winter white anyone?I have the toughest time finding tall boots because my calves require ‘wide calf’ in almost every style but then when I get wide calf they fit too big and are unflattering…well to my surprise my friends over at NYLA solved my quandry with these OTK (over the knee…don’t worry I just picked up on that abbreviation about 24 hours ago) suede riding boots that stretch around your calf similar to the Stuart Weitzman 50/50 boot except these beauties retail for under $75…making them a ‘MUST’ in my book.Because I occasionally like to be ‘matchy matchy‘ I had to rock my last year’s Christmas gift to myself…the Louis Vuitton Neverfull in Damier. This bag comes with me everywhere…and I literally mean everywhere…Target, Manhattan, JFK…you name it, it’s been there along for the ride.I try to keep the accessory game on point at all times so here ya go: Mirrored Aviators, Caravelle New York Watch, Stone Necklace, Initial Triangle Necklace….and they all make great ~~last minute~~ Holiday gifts 😉 😉 I actually (for about all of 10 minutes before freezing) felt like embracing the winter weather…like I mentioned short lived 😉 | Click To Shop My Look |

Snow Flake…

Happy Thursday Lovers! I titled this post ‘Snow Flake’ because the combination of the baby blue cable knit sweater, ivory tulle skirt and metallic accessories made me instantly think of snow flake holiday decoration that is hanging in one of the windows of my house at the moment. Snow flakes, like this outfit are simple yet elegant, they glimmer at night or during the day and are always bound to make you smile 🙂 I love wearing tulle skirts because they make me feel like that little girl that wants to be a princess (hell maybe that’s still me…oops). They are always an extra special piece to wear for any occasion…especially the holiday season. At times wearing a tulle skirt can be seen as ‘too much’ but styled the right way…totally do-able!I paired this LC Lauren Conrad tulle skirt with a cable knit sweater from Old Navy. I love the touch of baby blue especially because it can even be worn well into spring when the weather is still a tad cool in the early months. While I love this one from Old Navy, I found similar ones here + here (both for under $50!).Now time to break down my metallic accessories…because every snow flake wants to shine right? 😉 My silver pumps are from Christian Siriano for Payless (now on my Poshmark here) and are no longer available but I found a similar pair from DV By Dolce Vita on sale at Macy’s here!Next up? This metallic silver zip clutch is perfect for the Holiday season because it can be worn with absolutely EVERYTHING! Metallic is always statement making and dresses up any look. This clutch is from Carolinna Espinosa (on my Poshmark here / similar Steve Madden clutch here) and is no longer available but I found a similar one from Clare V. at Neiman Marcus here.And once again…had to rock my favorite piece of candy…arm candy I mean from Caravelle NY…the best piece to match with any Holiday ensemble…On a side note, I’d like to share a little personal update from the world of Missy. My little buddy Charlie just came home last night from having emergency eye surgery at the animal hospital. I don’t know about you, but my feeling is that Charlie isn’t just our family dog, he is truly a member of our family and to go through this little hiccup during the holiday season has been stressful on all of us. Holiday Dressing — Sweater Weather…

Happy Wednesday Loves! Usually the holiday season makes us think of glitz and glam…now don’t get me wrong, I love some sparkle just like the next gal but sometimes when you are around close family or friends all you need to wear for the holidays is a classic sweater…a cable knit sweater! Sorry but I never really got into the whole ‘ugly sweater‘ deal for the holiday season…I opt for a more trendy yet timeless sweater…the cable knit sweater. I scored this one at Old Navy and I wear it all the time…whether it is dressed up or dressed down, a cable knit sweater is an essential for every gal no matter what age. Because I hate wearing pants…yes I said it…I hate pants haha I paired this cable knit sweater with a maroon skater skirt (which can be worn year round, not just for the holiday season).I dressed the look up a bit with my black suede knee high boots which I constantly get asked where they are from…well the answer is H&M…2 years ago so unfortunately they are no longer there but I found similar ones on sale now for under $100 at Lord & Taylor here.And I am bringing leopard back this holiday season with this Betsey Johnson bag (similar style from Ralph Lauren here). I love wearing little hints of leopard from time to time…especially when the hues match so perfectly like they do in this ensemble. It wouldn’t be a true street style look without some killer sunnies…I never knew J Crew had such great sunglasses but I fell in love with these beauties the second I spotted them in store + on sale (the word sale always helps determine a good buy haha)!This is one of my favorite looks so far this month…it’s cute, simple and also kind of sexy by adding the knee high boots 😉 So you can wear this around the fam and also out for date night…win/win!| Click To Shop This Look |

White Whimsy…

Happy Monday Lovers! I’m bringing a little warmth back to the blog with this whimsical white pleated dress that I loved all summer long except I had to somewhat make it transition to the colder fall and winter months…my solution? A motorcycle jacket of course 😉 And yes to answer your question, I was freezing when shooting this over the weekend…but how does the old saying go? Pain is beauty…in this case toughing out the cold NY weather is the cost to look halfway decent on the blog haha I love all things girly girl and in case this look didn’t scream ‘girly‘, I will reassure you that not every girl loves pleated dresses but It’s an essential for every fashionista to have in their closet. Whether it’s a pleated skirt or even a dress like the one I’m wearing, it’s a timeless piece that will never go out of style and that’s something I can always get behind. I honestly can’t remember where I got this dress but I found two similar options here + here. To make the look a little edgier, I layered a black motorcycle jacket over it which A) kept me semi warm while shooting + B) Made the look a little less ‘frilly’ and ‘girly’ than it has typically looked previously. I found a motorcycle jacket I LOVE from Piperlime and it retails for under $50 now that’s what I call a steal!Now to break down the shoe and bag game…which is always my favorite part of any look. What a girl can’t love her shoes and bags? 😉 My nude ankle strap sandals have been a favorite of mine to wear on the blog for a while now because A) Nude shoes make you look taller and for a 5’3 shortie like me, I could use all the height I could get to pretend to be a model haha! + B) They match with EVERYTHING! They are available for under $50 at 6pm.com here.My bag was a TJ Maxx clearance find but I found a similar one from Nordstrom except in a different shade. I can never get enough of the design of the Rebecca Minkoff Affair Bag and this mini one is no excpetion…plus it came in the girliest of colors…pink! What else can a gal ask for?!I also opted to rock some sunnies once again and instead of going to my favorite mirrored aviators, I switched things up with black ones here.On a side note I became obsessed with a new song over the weekend which I am currently listening to while writing this post. It’s called ‘Say Something’ from Karen Harding and all I want to do is basically dance my a** off every time I hear it (sorry mom but yea I curse…even on the blog). Olive Green…

Happy Friday Lovers! I for one am excited for the weekend after having an exhausting week (and ~~exhausting~~ doesn’t even cover it). I plan on doing a few things 1) Having sushi at some point…in case I didn’t already share this fun fact about myself, it is one of my favorite foods 2) Seeing the new Reese Witherspoon movie…because my other favorite food is involved…popcorn & 3) Go on the hunt for super skinny ankle skinny jeans for my new C. Wonder boots that are part of my ‘holiday gift guide’ from yesterday (if you missed it it’s here)! And as every weekend goes…outfit shoots and another gift guide will be happening 😉 Stay on the look out!I became obsessed with the idea of needing a canvas coat months ago when I saw a few fashionistas rocking it on their blogs (I am always inspired by other bloggers…it’s such a vast yet tight knight community that truly influences each other). I love this canvas coat because it is one of my favorite fall/winter hues…olive green (similar available at 6pm here). For some reason I love the combination of olive green + purple. I’ve done it previously with camo pants and violet pumps (here) and I decided to use that idea with a purple skater skirt and green coat.Speaking of Christmas gifts…this Louis Vuitton Speedy Bag was one of the best Christmas gifts I ever got and it was given to me from good ole Saint Nick aka my parents when I was a sophmore in high school…and I still wear it all the time…good job mom and dad 😉 I love the Speedy bag because it’s roomy but not as huge as my Neverfull so it is a great in between.While I always tend to wear mirrored aviators, for this look I figured let’s switch things up and go for the black aviators like these ones (on sale for under $75).These taupe suede lace up booties (these are similar ones from Ralph Lauren) have been and still are an absolute favorite of mine.
