    ‘Workout Wednesday’ – ‘Juicing’

    green-juice

Ok, so the big health fad of ‘juicing’ seems to be making it’s way into the year 2014. The year 2013 was filled with models, celebrities, your neighbor down the street and just about anyone looking to kick start a healthy lifestyle all attributing it to ‘Juicing’.

If you’ve been living under a rock for the past year and aren’t quite familiar with the term ‘Juicing’ let me explain…Basically, for a certain period time, it can be a day, 3 days, 5 days, 7 days or even 2 weeks, you don’t eat, but you drink approximately 6 pre-made juices a day as meal replacements in order to cleanse your system and give your body all the nutrients, fruits and vegetables your supposed to be getting on a daily basis, but you rarely do due to poor eating habits.

Sounds like a reasonable idea? Now I haven’t tried this out yet for a few reasons, 1) Will I be able to function solely on drinking juice even if it is just for 3 days? I’m not too sure…2) Even if it cleanses my system for the 3 days I’m on it, what happens after?…3) If your someone who isn’t ready to commit to a ‘Juicing’ lifestyle, meaning I’m not prepared to do a cleanse every month…is there a point of even jumping in to doing one in the first place?

Like with most things, I’m slightly skeptical when it comes to juicing. While I am all about trying to be healthy…although I can’t promise to always stick to it 100% of the time, is ‘Juicing’ truly good for you? Or is it simply one more fad that will be replaced in a year with the next health and weight loss breakthrough?

I think for now I will try a method that has seemed to ring true time after time…working out and eating right. What about you?

    ‘WorkOut Wednesday’ – TRX

A group of people doing suspension training at the gym.

Happy ‘WorkOut Wednesday‘ Loves! It’s my first WorkOut Wednesday post of the New Year and like many of you… yes I cheated a little and fell off the gym wagon around the holidays, but I’m happy to get right back to my workout routine! In this edition of ‘WorkOut Wednesday‘ I’m sharing with you a little piece of gym equipment called the ‘TRX‘.

The ‘TRX’ helps with suspension training. Basically, the ‘TRX’  gives you the ability to do all the exercises you normally do: squats, rows, bicep curls, pushups, burpees etc…except with an extra with a little extra twist. By suspending the body, the ‘TRX’ makes all these already ‘difficult’ exercises a little tougher by having your body suspended in stir-ups wear your either leaning towards or away from the wall in order to get that extra resistance.

I personally like the ‘TRX’ for some moves like squats, curls, pushups, planking etc…sometimes however, practice makes perfect and it takes a long time to be able to balance in the ‘TRX’ and do the moves properly at the same time!

    Have you tried the ‘TRX’?

    WorkOut Wednesday – Inspiration ‘Snooki’

    173676735_620x350

Now yes I have to admit I was far from a Snooki fan when she was getting trashed and making an ass of herself on the hit show, ‘Jersey Shore’, but recently she has me thinking that maybe she isn’t so bad after all.

For this week’s edition of ‘WorkOut Wednesday‘ I wanted to talk about one of my new fitness inspirations, Snooki. She has come a long way from her ‘Jersey Shore’ days. She’s a new mom and is hitting the gym everyday to keep looking like one hot mama!

What I love about Snooki is the fact that she shares her gym adventures with the world via her website and social media. She isn’t afraid to admit, ‘Hey to look like this takes work’. She isn’t hiding how she gets her killer body and she embraces an overall healthy lifestyle!

She made an even bigger statement when she waltzed her way onto ‘Dancing With The Stars’ which is known to make even the healthiest of people exhausted and tired, but Snooki was sharing her rehearsal adventures with the world everyday and looked good while doing it!

Here’s some of my fav fitness pics of Snooki as well as a link to her interview with Dr. Oz in which she shared the secret of how to get her killer post baby bod, (Hint: It’s something that has been said time after time!)

    My Simply Stylist Takeaway!

    20131103-105220.jpg
Last Sunday I had the pleasure of attending the Simply Stylist conference in NYC!

May I just say it’s amazing how many fashion and beauty bloggers are out there, and having them all in one place is a stylish overload!

The conference consisted of keynote speakers like ‘The Hills’ star turned entrepreneur, Lo Bosworth, Catt Sadler of E!, America’s Next Top Model’s Jay Manuel and more.

Each person gave their ‘key’ tips on how to make it in beauty and fashion, how to turn your blog into a business and basically how to get what you want out of life.

It was inspiring to hear about the humble begins of Catt Sadler who grew up in the Midwest dreaming of being on tv and living in the big city. It made all of us who attended feel anything is possible if you just ‘Dive In’ as Jay Manuel would say and go for it!

While there was tons of great advice and insight to go around, a few key points stood out to me which I am thrilled to pass along to you:

    1) It’s All About Connections & Networking:
Don’t be shy ladies and gents. If you want to work for a particular company one day or just get your foot in the door to the industry, surround yourself with people that can help you get there. Attend events, parties, conferences, tweet, Instagram, Facebook; make everyone know who you are, being shy won’t get you anywhere, but being a little social butterfly will.

    2) Be Direct:
You want that amazing internship or job that you know half the world is applying for, so what are you to do? Easy, come up with a business proposal for yourself, treat the application, resume and cover letter like its a business. Go out of your way to take a major interest in the company; follow it on all social platforms, e-mail the key people or departments your interested in (not just HR), explain why your amazing and how hard your willing to work. Sell yourself, why should they want you?

    3) Be Kind:
While being a bitch can get you what you want faster, I’m a true believer in the fact that I’d rather be loved than feared. Being nice to people, makes you a better person, makes others appreciate your presence and in most cases will lead to positive things. Sure there is always a time to stand firm and speak up for what you want or believe in, but if you do it all the time no one will take it seriously, however if you do it once in a while people are more likely to truly be interested in what you have to say.

These 3 principles not only helped the panelists at the conference get to where they are today, but me as well.

Fashionistas take note: follow these principles and your likely to succeed in anything you wish to accomplish!
