Are you feeling a little red, white + blue? I don’t know about you but I am all about a fun bold look, especially to celebrate the 4th of July! While this look is a bit dressier than what one would typically wear for your standard July 4th BBQ, I figured why not?…I mean I love a great red, white + blue look…don’t you?
Whether you are heading to a party or heading to watch fireworks, embracing America’s colors is always a good idea if you ask me!
This blue tassel contrast top from Skies Are Blue is the perfect blouse to wear for the upcoming holiday. Whether you style it with white jeans or denim shorts or a fun skirt like I did here, this top is a must have for summer (plus it retails for under $57)!
This white skirt retails for under $20 and is an essential for every gal’s wardrobe. I have styled it so many different ways + it is just a handy piece to have year round. I have always loved skater skirts (so much that I have this skirt in 10 different colors haha :p).
While this red Vera Bradley bag is no longer available, I linked to a few red leather satchel’s like this one from Kate Spade. This bag is a great one to add a pop of color to any look, whether it’s the 4th of July or any look in general, why not brighten things up with a pop of red?
These navy blue ankle strap sandals were a sale find from Macy’s but I am linking to a similar style that comes in various colors here. This style of heel is perfect for work or play. With a mid heel height, they are super comfortable and also stylish.
H a p p y H u m p d a y! We are halfway there! Only two more days till the weekend and I couldn’t be more excited! The weather in LA has been gorgeous all week and I have been dying to just hang by the pool and relax…much needed after a busy start to a new job 🙂 (ICYMI details are here)
With this warm weather, I am all about transitional looks that can easily go from winter to spring…like this look here♥
This is a great look for work or play…take your favorite winter time sweater (I personally lovethis gray v-neck one) and layer it over your favorite spring skirt (mine obviously being this white skater skirt — I am slightly obsessed with skater skirts if you weren’t aware :p) Personally, I feel that a v-neck sweater is flattering on just about everyone and can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion — paired with a skater skirt (ideal for those who have #LegsForDays or those who just enjoy not wearing pants…aka M E!) LOL!
Also…I am once again wearing these Le Specs tortoise shell mirrored sunnies I can’t get enough of! Great alternative to my Ray Bans that I think I have been getting a tad bit sick of (shhh our little secret) :p
Happy Monday! I finally got to shoot some new looks this weekend and I am super excited to embrace more winter vibes (although it was 75 degrees here in LA when I shot them haha). What I love about winter in LA is that since it’s still warm I can basically wear my NY fall favorites for an LA winter…win/win! Another thing I love about winter in LA? Gorgeous sunsets and backdrops like this one up in the Hollywood Hills (and there is no snow for me to slip on in my OTK boots :p).So let’s break down this pretty look (which I am completelyobsessed with btw). My basic tee is from Sea Of Pearls, based in LA…their tees are super soft, comfy and I l o v e them<3 I layered over it this black sleeveless blazer (such a popular trend for 2015 — still can’t believe the year is almost coming to a close). I of course had to wear a white skirt because I love transitioning my summer favorites into year round staples :p #SorryNotSorry
My new obsession? These Le Specs sunnies (from SunglassesShop) are super fun and unique. I am loving the shape along with the mirrored lenses <3 They are a great trade off from my usual Ray Bans.
My gorgeous new bling is from one of my fav LA babes..Marrin Costello! Her designs are chic, stylish and also add that boho flair suiting for any Cali gal 😉 You can see more of my favorites from her here!
N Y to L A…I may be a cali gal now, but my heart will always be in NY (hey that is where my family is!) So when Shoot The Moon LA sent me this NY to LA tee it not only put a smile on my face, but it actually warmed my heart. I love when clothing has a sentimental value…it makes it mean so much more than just a pretty thing to wear 😉I was never one for graphic tees but this vintage looking style and understated print really is perfect to dress up or down for any occasion. I of course in true Melissa fashion had to dress it up with a little white skater skirt (similar) + a black floppy hat (my fall season staple).
I can’t believe it is 4th Of July weekend already! I am happily writing this post by the pool at my apartment building since I have the day off today (so thrilling!) and this is actually a little bit of a flashback to LI while also sharing some July 4th style! I realized as I was editing these photos that A) These were shot in March (guess I was feeling patriotic vibes early haha) + B) All of these photos had what appears to be a blue filter over them…I am thinking my brother was having some mechanical difficulties with the camera that day but nonetheless they came out pretty sweet!
