Currently, we are watching Netflix while I blog away…Anyways…today’s post is one I am super excited about because it revolves around one of my favorite subjects, an accessory I wear every single day…SUNGLASSES! Happy Wednesday ♥Here’s to sunny days ahead + a bright outlook!ICYMI, I have been in a bit of a funk lately…I haven’t really been feeling like myself + that has made me a little unmotivated when it comes to blogging (as well as a bunch of other things). In the spirit of trying to use my site as a creative outlet + get more personal in hopes of helping others, I decided to get real with this post.
Over the past few months I began feeling like I was loosing myself, like I was doing the same thing day in + day out without any happiness or excitement. It is definitely an icky feeling, so in trying to get back to myself again, I went to the doctor to seek some professional advice on whether this was a normal funk, a quarter of a life crisis perhaps? (haha I hear that’s a real thing) or something else all together. Well it turns out I have been feeling off because I am experiencing depression. It’s hard to describe because I think people envision depression as wanting to be in bed all day, hiding under the covers + crying (which trust me…some days I definitely feel like doing), however there is ‘high functioning depression‘ where you go ahead + try to kick a** everyday but still feel sad, anxious + hopeless inside…so that is the current boat I am in (sorry this isn’t more ‘upbeat’ but I think maybe some people can relate to this + if this can help one other person not feel like they are battling similar issues alone, that makes me feel better to be there to say ‘it’s ok’).
Going through this has been literally one of the most difficult challenges of my life. Picking up my life, moving cross country, leaving my family + loosing that safety net of stability has been tough…along with some other ups + downs along the way, all together these bumps in the road have been weighing on me. So now I am in this difficult place where I feel like I am stuck in this negative rut but also trying to find a way out of it + feel better. Of course there are many options out there to cure such feelings but figuring out what is best for you + your well being is the challenge…Stay tuned for this, I am currently researching some options + want to be able to kind of track my progress throughout my posts till I hopefully feel like myself again 🙂 Maybe this is a growing pain I am supposed to share…or at least that’s how I am looking at it!

Since I am trying to regain my happiness + find a ‘brighter‘ outlook on life, I felt it was only suiting to do a post rounding up some of my favorite sunnies that have been trending this fall!
I discovered ILY Mix through instagram (you know, where everyone finds their new favorite places to shop haha) + then went over to their site + became OBSESSED with their selection of fabulous sunnies ♥

The first pair is the Double Crossbar Metal Aviator Sunglasses (pictured below) – they are chic, a perfect go-to for daily wear + they remind me of a similar style from Dior (except for a fraction of the price).
The other style I am loving from ILY Mix is the Flat Front Metal Sunglasses. This has been such a popular style over the past couple of months + I was looking for a pair with a pink mirrored hue, so these ones are perfect! (pictured below)
F L O W E R power! I am far from a ‘Boho Chic‘ kinda gal, but now that I am living in LA and festival season is upon us, I figured it only makes sense to share some Coachella inspired looks! I actually attended the Boohoo.com Coachella Pop-Up Shop last weekend where Bella Thorne + Mischa Barton were in attendance (oh hey there Marissa Cooper!)…safe to say my brother AKA PopCultureDiedIn2009 was beyond thrilled to get the insider scoop 😉 However I was pumped to see all the floral, fringe and boho-inspired pieces perfect to wear out in Palm Desert!
A signature piece everyone seems to be obsessing over this spring are Floral Bell Bottom Pants! I honestly can’t remember where I found these babies but I kinda love them and may bring them to Coachella with me (heck…they are totally coming haha)
I paired them with a simple white camisole (from Kohls) and layered over a chambray button down shirt (from Nordstrom Rack). While I know most boho gals will be rocking floral pants like these with a crop top…that ain’t my style. I like to show some skin, but not bare it all just yet (hey I still got time to prep for bikini season don’t I? haha)
My shoes and accessories are perfect for festival season as well! Wouldn’t be a festival without some fun neon and fringe — like these necklaces below! And platform shoes — why not right? Especially with bell bottom pants, kinda 70s vibes which I am digging 🙂
Just keep S W I M M I N G…Crazy to think that swim suit season is just around the corner (and even crazier to think that while there is snow on the ground in NYC!)…perks of living in LA? No snow in sight 😉 Just sunshine, pool days and some new swimwear from Target!
So time to be honest…swimwear has been my least favorite thing to shop for…why? Because nothing truly tests your confidence like slipping in to a bikini or one piece and wanting to look ‘sexy‘, ‘fit‘ and ‘beautiful‘. Especially in today’s day and age, it’s really tough to feel like a ‘million bucks‘ with models, celebrities and social media stars (cough cough Jen Selter) looking like they spend their entire lives at the gym…drinking Kale smoothies and doing the latest exercise routine to take over the country. Well truth time…that’s not me, nor will it ever be me. I work out because I want to bingeeat movie theater popcorn at least once a week…I hate Kale and I am A OK with jogging on the treadmill (I prefer to spend my money on shoes as opposed to the latest workout craze :p)!
Well luckily Target has made it easy for even a gal like me to find swimwear flattering enough to flaunt on Instagram…yup totally Insta-Worthy! Whether you are curvy, sporty, pear shaped, have an apple bottom, want to accentuate your waist, lift your chest or hide your perceived ‘problem areas’, Target has the perfectswimsuit for you…Don’t have #FOMO (fear of missing out) this summer because you are worried about how you look in a swimsuit…Target has got you covered!
My personal body issues have followed me ever since I was pre-teen. I was teased, bullied and always made to dream of having that ‘picture perfect’ figure. Well news flash…perfection doesn’t exist and years later I am finally beginning to feel confident in the skin I am in! Do I have moments where I worry about how I look? ABSOLUTELY! But, I also vow to not have a ‘Fear Of Missing Out‘ this summer (or in my case year round :p ain’t LA great)!
