Staying Hydrated for Spring with smartwater from Target…

Spring is B L O O M I N G, the weather is warming up + that means I am even more on the go than usual. Whether it is heading to the office, walking around my neighborhood or running around on the weekends, one this is for sure…I always need to stay hydrated in order to kick butt throughout the day! I don’t know about you but anytime I feel parched or thirsty, I instantly can’t focus and need a little boost…that’s why I am starting to find it more and more important to make sure I stay hydrated throughout the day so I can experience #InspiredHydration ♥

Luckily smartwater® has been my go-to for staying hydrated and inspired for years now. Whether I am about to hike Runyon, head out for an outfit shoot or just go from meeting to meeting, I always keep a bottle of smartwater with me!

While I am an avid smartwater drinker, the number one time I always drink multiple bottles at a time is when I am off doing outfit shoots. Let me tell ya, standing out in the heat and waking up early to get the perfect lighting for photos ain’t easy, with that, in order to keep going, going, going, I need to drink TONS of water to function haha…specifically smartwater since it is filled with plenty of electrolytes that you can totally taste + it is just such a crisp + refreshing choice that you feel good about inside and out!

Since I have an outfit shoot coming up tomorrow, I decided to stock up, save + experience #InspiredHydration!

First, I headed over to Target, going straight to the water aisle and voila I scored the smartwater promo on the 0.5L 6 pack of bottles.

After, I score my smartwater on sale at Target I head back home and typically begin planning what else I need to bring with my for a busy day of shooting. An extra phone charger, my planner + some perfume are always in my bag to accompany my smartwater!

Finally, when I am out and about in LA taking pictures in front of colorful walls or heading to the perfect scene to snap a pic, I keep drinking smartwater so I don’t become dehydrated with the hot LA weather (it’s already been feeling like heat waves out here to be honest :p)

NYFW Survival Kit To Go Up, Up, Up…

NYFW is right around the corner and that means…P R E P time! See everyone thinks Fashion Week is a fun time like you see on TV or in magazines, but actually attending is work…lugging around your camera, notes, back up phone charger (I usually carry 3…hey those apps totally runs down your battery), your makeup, back up shoes (because even I can’t run around Manhattan in heels all day)…it is work! So what gets me to go up, up, up even if I feel completely drained from the work ahead? Preparing ahead of time!

Year after year I learn how to master NYFW (I have been going for about 5 years now) so I picked up a few tips along the way.

Plan your outfits ahead of time — I usually lay out 5 – 7 different options — all that can be easily transitioned from day to night)
Prepare what you need to bring — I always pack a few essentials to stay on track (Back Up Phone Charger, My Camera, My Planner — I am old fashioned and still like to hand write things because what if your phone dies? Kinda tragic if all of your plans are in it!)
Stay Hydrated + Fueled — Now this is pretty accurate to what you see on TV, it’s rare you see anyone eating during Fashion Week because shows are back to back and any events that do mention they include food…it’s usually champagne and cupcakes (which for me isn’t a well balanced meal haha I like to eat #SorryNotSorry). I always bring a bottle of water with me and the past two Fashion Weeks smartwater has been my choice because it also has electrolytes that keep me energized to continue going Up, Up, Up throughout my day!
Always Network + Bring Business Cards — I still believe in being old fashioned and bringing business cards to events (although now-a-days most people just follow each other on social media to connect) I still think there is something genuine about exchanging business cards and I always keep mine in my Initial Pouch.
Wear A Statement Wearing Bag — I always love to wear a chic bag that has room for all of my essentials and also makes a statement during Fashion Week. This Red Leather Bag is perfect for NYFW and it came just in time for the September shows<3

Where I Am + Where I Am Going…

To Do List: Wake Up, Kick Ass, Repeat (ok kidding…well maybe).One of the most common questions I have gotten recently is, “How did you get where you are today?”…now to clarify, today I am in my early 20s, still living at home and have a lot of growing up to do and tons to learn, however within the past few years, I have gotten my BA in Media Communications, started my own social media consulting company and launched MissyOnMadison.com

So what do I do on the daily to get to where I am? Well it all comes back to following my dreams, goals and ambition…

Ever since I was little I knew I wanted to ‘make it’ in the fashion world. One of the key things I learned in college was to be social and network. My parents didn’t have any ‘connections’ nor did they have any idea of what I wanted to do (hell, I still think I frighten them from time to time haha) but I always knew somehow everything would work itself out.

I tried to put myself out there (social media was a huge asset in that department), attend events to hopefully meet people with common interests who would become key contacts in the future and I always came (and continue to come) prepared for whatever the day may throw my way.

So here are the key things I do every day which prep me to make a great first impression and seize my goals for the day:

1. Confidence (never leave home without it folks). If you are shy and unsure of yourself it is likely others will feel the same way about you. I am a talker and I enjoy striking up conversation and putting myself out there.

2. Come Prepared. You never know what will happen in the course of a day. No matter what bag I opt to wear (whether it’s a night out or a day filled with meetings or a day trip) I carry a portable iPhone charger (nothing is worse than the ‘less than 20%’ memo popping up on your screen), business cards (I have cards for my consulting business + my blog), a bottle of smartwater, a great pair of sunnies, a chic accessory (like a statement bracelet or ring that can instantly snazz up an outfit) and of course lip gloss/lip balm!

3. Stay Organized. When I have a million things going on it is definitely challenging to stay on track and focus on what I need to do for the day, so I am all about keeping a schedule, writing things down and being mindful of the time on a daily basis. I always wear a watch, I flag e-mails that have important info for the day (time/location of meetings) and keep track of campaigns and important due dates in my Kate Spade planner.

4. Be Kind. You never know who you will meet and how they will impact your future. I try to be kind to everyone (I can’t promise I don’t have a little attitude every now and then…hey everyone has their moments) but for the most part I like to go through life with ‘rose colored glasses’ and take pride in treating people the way I would like to be treated…some call it karma, I call it common courtesy.

5. Take Care Of Yourself. It’s important to take great care of yourself every day to make a great first impression on those around you. I stay hydrated, get enough sleep (or at least try to), get some exercise in and try to do my hair and makeup every day because looking good makes ya feel good 😉
