Happy Fri-Yay! What better way to kick off the weekend than with some shopping! Well in true Missy fashion, I never pay retail for anything (you think I am kidding but I’m not…if there isn’t a sale, a promo code or a coupon, it ain’t getting purchased :p) so I had to share a shopping guide where all the items are on SALE (ends 3.7.15) + Get FREE Shipping (win/win if you ask me!). Use code BigEvent15 at checkout from ShopBop to get upwards of 25% off your entire order <3
There may still be snow on the ground, but in my mind it’s time to shop for spring + more importantly, start shopping for my upcoming trip to LA in May! All I want is colorful handbags, cute sandals and plenty of rompers and jump suits (need to feel like a true laid back Californian :p) While I shared about of my picks above, scroll down to shop + share more of my picks and be sure to comment with what pieces you are craving for spring!
Speaking of white…you know what is covered in white? Long Island! Because once again it is snowing…#SoOverThisWeather. I am beginning to feel like winter will be lasting a lot longer than I would like so naturally I decided to begin dressing ‘springy‘ hopefully to give mother nature a little *hint hint* to warm up already! (If not I will have to warm up on my upcoming trip to LA that I just booked yesterday! I can’t wait for some sunshine and a nice tan!) Anyways…like I’ve mentioned before, the only thing I do like about all this snow is that it makes for a pretty backdrop…if only it wasn’t such a menace the rest of the time :p While this look isn’t the most practical outfit for this weather, I kinda don’t care because I miss being able to bare my legs and wear skater skirts! (I can’t stand wearing stockings or tights).
I love the neutral colors in this outfit…browns and whites have been my go to shades for winter. Although it’s a faux paux to wear white in winter…let alone a white faux leather skirt, I dared to anyway…and I am pretty content with the result 😉 pair it with a chic sweater and a cute scarf and a primarily spring/summer pieces is turned into a winter essential.
My accessories I kept simple…although I am not wearing them in the photos I recently got these yellow aviators and love them (they will definitely be packed for my upcoming California {post from last year’s visit} trip!). You can never go wrong with neutralhues when it comes to shoes and bags because they can easily be transitioned from season to season and can be worn with any look. These taupe suede booties (which are on sale from ShopBop btw – Use code BigEvent15 for discount) can be worn all year long and can be styled in multiple ways! My Coach cross body has been getting use no matter what the season since I purchased it a year ago (great investment!).
Hopefully today is the last of the snow because every time I go to take photos there is still slush and ice on the ground…not ideal to show off my new spring wear (insert monkey emoji covering it’s eyes haha)| Click To Shop + Share My Look |
If only NYC warranted this kind of ensemble today. This is a little bit of a flashback and was shot when I was in Florida, but I am already planning my next visit…maybe this time Miami? Well guess what? Maybe you could join me…Ok not literally join me on my trip but you can be off to Miami for spring break with the help of ZipCar! ZipCar wants you to #ZipIntoSpring by entering their ‘Spring Break Giveaway‘ for a trip for two to Miami for 4 days / 3 nights including airfare + $100 a day spending money…umm sounds like a sweet deal to me! Continue reading to see how you can win!
When it comes to travel style the key is to bring accessories that can be transitioned into a bunch of looks…a signature pair of sunnies, a chic watch (like this Michael Kors one) and simple clothing…like this black skater skirt that can be worn at the pool, to dinner, to brunch or the beach (did I mention how much I LOVE skater skirts? Because I am pretty much obsessed). And I love to wear wedges…especially nude ones that can match with absolutely everything (these will definitely be in my suitcase for spring break)!
So back to this exciting trip to Miami for spring break…Do you want to go? Well here is your chance (Giveaway ends TOMORROW), head over to the ZipCar landing page here + Follow the instructions on the page…how simple is that?! Maybe if you are the lucky winner, we will bump into each other during spring break 😉 How awesome would that be?!| Click To Shop + Share My Look |
This is what I am wearing to the office today…NOT! Trust me I am counting down the seconds till I could slip on some shorts and sandals once again, but for now I will have to relive some sunny moments with these photos from one of my outfit shoots in Florida (if you missed my previous Florida posts check them out here + here). The weather was perfect, not too hot…not too cold, just right…The perfect weather to mix a cropped sweater, shorts + of course sandals (how great are these white ankle strap sandals…I can’t wait to wear them all spring/summer long, PS you can get them for under $50 below)!
This white sweater was a staple of mine in Florida because it would be brisk in the morning, warm in the afternoon and then slightly cooler in the evening so this sweater came with me everywhere (a gal has to be prepared at all times :p).My accessories were staples for my trip as well. Simple white sandals can be worn with jeans, shorts, skirts or dresses, so they are a great option to bring when traveling to a warmer climate (which is pretty much anywhere other than New York #GetMeOutOfHere). My bag is from Coach a few years back but I found two similar cross body options here + here. And of course some bling is always in order…I layer this skull necklace over everything + yes, I am totally obsessed with these blue Ray Bans which were a Birthday gift from my parents right before I left for my trip.
So in actuality I am bundled up in layers…warm pants, sweaters, vests and more…pretty much yesterday’s outfit post but hey it’s fun to have a little ‘throwback‘ moment every now and then right? :p| Click To Shop + Share My Look |
With NYFW quickly approaching I teamed up with smartwater to share my NYFW prep guide / a little outfit inspiration for the big week in NYC! Fashion Week is a stressful yet exciting time for every blogger…shows to see, parties to attend and outfits to shoot…so I tend to A) Keep my looks simple enough to transition from day to night + B) Stay hydrated and ready to go with smartwater, the official hydrator of NYFW (no matter where I go I always have my bottle handy).
*This story is brought to you by vapor-distilled smartwater, who found unique inspiration for their water by looking up to the sky. We hope the new perspective this piece offers will help inspire you.
My NYFW style always incorporates a killer pair of heels, an easy go to bag and a crisp blazer that pulls the look together. What inspires my look? Easy, simple, chic, classic pieces. Pieces that can be worn season to season, can transition well for any occasion and are pieces that are flattering on every figure. While I am never one to shy away from color during February NYFW I tend to keep my winter neutrals paired with a little pop (my pop being white). Since NYFW is such a hectic time I prep the best way I know how…with a little rest, relaxation and of course a vacation! Last week I headed on a pre-fashion week trip to Orlando Florida (where I shot these photos…hence the lack of snow covering the ground and the ability to wear white pumps). I spent the weekend at Disney World and every hour on the hour I was guzzling another bottle of smartwater to stay hydrated as I was running around…which in a way reminded me of running from show to show, party to event all week long during fashion week. My takeaway? Stay HYDRATED (trust me it’s much needed).Although I am always carrying a ton while attending the shows, my Rebecca Minkoff Affair Bag has been my go to for the past few seasons. It fits all my essentials: camera, iPhone charger, sunglasses, water bottle, makeup and more. Not too big, not too small…just right 😉 I wish fashion week was in a warmer climate this season but what can you do…it gives me an excuse to wear vegan leather leggings like these ones from Lysse that not only keep me warm, but they are as stylish and as chic as could be.
