Makin’ Things P O P with Uncommon Goods…

Happy Monday! A lot of gift giving holidays are quickly approaching…Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Graduation etc. Where is one to find fun, unique + personalized gifts that will be perfect for everyone in your life? Easy…Uncommon Goods!! To kick the season off, I decided to ‘treat’ myself to a little something, something in the form of my newest obsession…a Microwave Popcorn Popper!! ICYMI, I am a a huge fan of popcorn! It is basically one of my core food groups haha :p So when I saw that I can make popcorn in the microwave in an easy device that I can add my own butter + seasoning to I knew I had to have it.

This little baby is under $20 and is AMAZING! It is pretty much the ability to air pop popcorn without a popcorn maker (can life get any better? seriously?!)

This popper is made of glass with silicon and rubber pieces making it dishwasher safe and easy to put in the microwave without overheating.

All you need to get your movie night started is popcorn kernels, butter (if you want it movie theater style…I always do haha) + salt (I add sea salt usually after the popcorn is already popped).

The silicone topper doubles as a measuring cup for how many kernels you should put inside the popper.

If you want to add butter simply take a scoop or two and put it inside the silicone lid for it to slowly melt during the popping process in the microwave.

It takes about 2-3 minutes to pop depending on your microwave and it’s settings…

And voila it is pure deliciousness!! Freshly popped popcorn perfect for a Netflix night in or just an afternoon snack 🙂

Party Planning With Coke Zero + Oreo…

Just call me hostess with the mostess! As I get older, I am slowly but surely learning how much prep work goes in to throwing the ‘perfect party‘ or gathering (it’s a lot…Martha Stewart I give you credit :p). Between the shopping, coordinating, decorating etc. It really takes a lot of time and attention to detail, so what’s a gal to do when she has just 2 days to plan and throw the best NCAA viewing party ever? (ok…exaggerating a little…it may not have been the ‘best’ but it was pretty close if you ask me haha!) Make a plan + get to it! Here’s my ‘How to throw a fun bash on a budget!’

There is no handbook on how to throw a fun, affordable get together, but here are a few of my awesome tips that helped me prep for a great NCAA viewing party!

1.Make a list of your party essentials — I am a visual person so making a list of the snacks, decor or favors I will need really helps me prep for my trip to the store (plus it helps me make sure I don’t forget anything)!

2.Search your local stores flyers to circle what items you need — This is a great chance to see what specials are happening / sales going on. I got lucky at Von’s and discovered thatCoca-Cola Zero™ was on sale just in time for my viewing party! (Usually, the more you buy, the more you save — this kind of deal is perfect for a party since you are normally buying in bulk anyway)!

3.Head to the store — After getting your list together and going through the weekly circular to make note of what to get, it’s time to head to the store and stock up (and save)!

For this party, I headed to Von’s to shop for my party snacks (specifically Coke Zero + OREO…they are kinda my favorite + super yummy…so if there are leftovers, I get to have what I actually like haha!)

4.Start setting up — After shopping, that leaves one thing…begin setting up for the party! I picked out cute glassware, serving trays + bowls to serve snacks and beverages in (I mean if i am throwing a party it has to be insta-worthy :p).

And voila! You are basketball viewing party ready!

NYFW Diary Part 1…

Hello Loves! I’m writing this post while in bed in desperate need of a foot massage after a long day filled with NYFW festivities. I decided I’m going to do a daily diary of my events (don’t worry I will break down the looks I’m wearing after fashion week simmers down!). Today was hectic not only because of all the places to be and people to see, but also because NYC was a sticky mess today…makeup melting, hair falling…dare I say beads of sweat formulating on the back of my neck..ugh! At least I had fun right? 😉 My first stop was ‘The Vane’ brunch. The Vane is a pretty awesome app that combines fashion and weather…you know so you can finally pick out a weather appropriate outfit minus the guessing! Mainly I was excited to catch up with my blogger buddies like Kelly (above) 🙂 She’s also from Long Island and has a thing for affordable fashion like me! I was so happy to finally run into these ladies. Jess and I have been following each other for a few months now on instagram and now FINALLY got to meet face to face! Got to love technology…making friends over the internet and then in real life 😉Another virtual blogger bestie…Kerri! I’m obsessed with her outfit and the fact that we’ve been insta stalking each other for months now. Also in love with the gorgeous chandelier hanging above brunch…I need a walk in closet with this beauty…which brings me to my next event of the day…the Reward Style party!I couldn’t wait to hit the Reward Style party because I got to catch up with my favorite LA bloggers!

I haven’t seen my blogger bestie Kristi since my LA adventure back in April where I stayed with her for almost two weeks and attended Lucky Fabb and countless other events in addition to some awesome outfit shoots. We rejoiced in the lobby of the Empire Hotel…yes, high pitch screams were exchanged and onlookers rolled their eyes, but hey all that matters is we were back in action! Kristi and I had to share our black booties in true blogger style. Mine are from Nine West her’s are Chanel! I was so happy to spot this lady in red…Sheryl of ‘Walk In Wonderland’. I have loved her since the moment I met her at the Nordstrom Rack event in Manhasset months ago and couldn’t wait to catch up…she is as sweet and as stylish as ever! Speaking of sweet…I don’t have a sweet tooth, but I do have a slight obsession with popcorn! I acted like a child the moment I saw popcorn at the party…I even texted a photo to my mom who replied ‘You Must Be Thrilled’…sad but true, I was 😉 My final destination of the day was the Katya Leonovich SS 15 Runway show at Pier 59, Chelsea Piers. It was my first runway show this fashion week but certainly not my last! I love the risky designs…models were baring it all and I mean ALL (nipples exposed…not my style but hey work it girl)! I also love the random pops of color…we know neon is my speciality! (More on this to come…I have photos of all the looks…totally unique) I’m off to try and get some beauty rest!
