Ever since I was a little girl I always loved getting dressed up, taking pictures + dreaming of a fabulous NYC adventure. While I live in LA now a few things still remain the same, I love taking pictures, I love dressing up AND I still love going back to NYC to shoot my Carrie Bradshaw esq moments. This Carrie moment was shot at the New York Public Library, a library so beautiful it actually makes me want to read haha :p
Anytime I want to live my best Carrie Bradshaw life I include a tulle skirt. For some reason a tulle skirt just makes me feel like Carrie so I stocked up and ordered this skirt from Amazon in EVERY color it comes in…I’ve styled it so many ways for so many different occasions but this shoot is by far one of my favorites.
I paired this tulle skirt with an off the shoulder bodysuit, another key item in my wardrobe that I have in every color because when I find something I love, I buy it in every color!
I love bodysuits because they suck everything in and are super flattering when paired with the right pieces, for me it is A Line fit + flare skirts.
I love adding some nice accessories to the look so I paired the look with one of my signature Gucci belts. I love this belt so much that I bought it in every color it comes in to match every ensemble.
For shoes I paired the look with pumps that make a statement, cobalt blue pumps! I wear these all the time because they just brighten up any look.
Summer is HERE (YAY!!) + while I always embrace a little ‘Pop Of Color‘, now is the perfect time for everyone to join in on the fun + brighten up their wardrobe with some POPS of fun hues. Since I am a forever color lover, I wanted to share some tips on how to incorporate color into your wardrobe, one piece at a time. I wasn’t always the fun loving neon lover, but in my early twenties I began loving bright colors which lead to a cheerful perspective + a happy outlook. Clothing + accessories of course make you stylish, but they can also change your mood + boost your confidence! A great way to do that is by adding some statement pieces you’ll love that are sure to ‘P O P’.
1. START OFF SMALL
A lot of people get intimidated by wearing bright colors or loud prints as it may be to attention grabbing or they feel they can’t ‘pull it off’. First off, we are in 2019 where everything is attention grabbing + for the most part, we can pull off anything BUT if you are hesitant or a little cautious, a great way to introduce color into your wardrobe is through accessories like jewelry, a scarf, hat, handbags or shoes. This way it’s a small amount of color + you can mix it various ways with an otherwise neutral ensemble.
2. LET KEY PIECES SHINE
While I am a firm believer in there being no such thing as fashion ‘rules’, I must say if you are just starting to wear color it definitely helps to let the statement piece shine by keeping other pieces relatively monochromatic. For example, if you are wearing cobalt blue shoes, keep the dress white, neutral or black…this way you aren’t worried about mixing prints or colors that seem mismatched. Plus, this is an easier way to get dressed in the AM since you can simply start with your bold piece and build the rest of your look around that.
3. FIND THE RIGHT COLOR FOR YOU
Just as you would with makeup, finding the right hues or shades for your skin + body type is key when it comes to wearing color. After a little time getting familiar with wearing color, you’ll find what colors match best with you. I love to wear blue, pink + yellow since it really pops during the summer months when I finally get a little glow or tan. You can find some guides online on which colors are best to wear for what purpose + that definitely helps when incorporating color into your wardrobe.
Happy Thursday Babes! I have been super busy lately between getting everything ready for my upcoming trip to London + working on an exciting top secret project (don’t worry, I will reveal it soon hehe) my blog time has been slacking but I am getting back at it! I can’t believe summer is coming to a close – living in LA it makes it hard to realize a transition in seasons sometimes since the weather doesn’t change like good ‘ole NYC…what can I say, sometimes I miss the big apple! Luckily, today’s post reminds me a little of NYC because I am rocking a chic printed wrap dress from Leota New York! For some reason a classic wrap dress + pointed toe pumps is so ‘New York‘ to me. Maybe it reminds me of my corporate office days + being in the epicenter of the fashion world but I personally will always love playing dress up no matter what the occasion.
This Leota New York dress is beyond comfy + it is beyond flattering on various body types. It is fun, flirty yet professional + chic. Whether you are heading to the boardroom or a nice dinner, this dress paired with the perfect bag + heels is a total ‘must-have‘!
What I love about wrap dresses is how flattering they are. I have been up and down with my weight lately so the fact that it is tight on top and flows out makes it the perfect dress to ‘hide’ anything you may not want to accentuate 😉
The red in the dress was picked up with my red satchel from Miss Locker Bags (it retails for under $100 on Amazon). This bag I wore all over NYC as it has just the right amount of room to fit all of my essentials from my keys, to lipstick, to sunnies + more.
Classic white pumps are always a no brainer. I mean what is more chic than this?
Happy Wednesday Babes! Sorry for being MIA but I was swamped this past few days because my dad was in town from New York! He visited me for Father’s Day and in one jam packed weekend we headed to Palm Springs, Santa Barbara, Beverly Hills, Weho, Hollywood + more. From heading to the Petersen Automotive Museum to check out some sweet rides to visiting the desert + stopping along at local stops, this weekend was filled with tons of adventure!
Anyways…now that I cleared up why I’ve been MIA the past few days, back to this gorgeous outfit that combines my two favorite things: a classic look + P O P s of color! From the cobalt blue pencil skirt to a chic white boyfriend blazer + white heels, this look is great for date night, the office, happy hour + beyond (and with affordable prices…this outfit is a MUST).
I scored this skirt + body suit from this new site called ‘Jewel Toned‘ that has the best shapewear for work + play.
This skirt has lace trim, a great fit + is only $38! The bodysuit that is great for hitting the club (not that I really hit the club ever haha) or just any occasion is only $61 (it also has adjustable straps to get the perfect fit).
Someone (me) has a case of the Mondays…any Office Space lovers out there? 😉 If so then you know which line I am referring to hehe But seriously, I definitely have a case of the Monday Blues today. Over the weekend I dropped Mike off at LAX to head to London for 7 months for work (ugh I know…long distance it is). What was more upsetting than Mike leaving for 7 months was that on the car ride over to LAX we hear the sad news out of London of another terror attack. We both were silent and my heart was breaking as I was trying so hard not to cry and to be strong for him as to not worry him before heading on his flight over there. This feeling was something that can’t seem to escape me. We are living in a scary time and although we discussed me visiting him in the fall (something I most certainly was looking forward to since I have never been to London, let alone out of the country) this fear is in a way unshakeable. So I am trying to be strong, not live in fear + to be as supportive as possible but I may have some more heart felt messages on the blog so be prepared ♥
I am not going to discuss politics on here as I know it is such a hot button discussion at the moment and I want my site to be light hearted + enjoyable for all but I truly hope we find a way to end this reign of terror. Will loving each other solve the problem? I am not sure…Will there be another solution? I can only hope, either way…I am someone who likes to forge ahead and kick a**!
On to a lighter note, I will try to share some long distance dating tips + tricks on here as I begin to get into a groove with Mike 🙂 First tip – What’s App is ESSENTIAL :p
Time to brighten things up with this chic look that is great for work + play! It’s official post memorial day meaning by fashion law, it’s now time to wear white to embrace the summer season. Now I tend to wear white year round, call me a rebel if you must haha but all white everything is a look I can ALWAYS get behind!
Old Navy has the best white skinny jeans in my opinion (the ‘rockstar‘ style fits me like a glove). They are usually always on sale and come in a variety of fits to flaunt every body type. I love wearing a simple Topshop camisole with them so it can be dressed up for the boardroom or happy hour.
I have been really feeling the whole ‘duster’ trend lately. A long chic blazer? Count me in! I linked to a variety of nude colored ones below that can be worn year round – a total staple piece to add to your wardrobe!
It wouldn’t be a ‘Missy‘ esq outfit without a bright + bold‘P O P of Color’!
I LOVE this cobalt blue satchel + have for some time now. I am linking to some of my favorites below 🙂
My Kendra Scott Rayne Necklace is a perfect way to add a bit of color by getting it in cobalt blue, hot pink, yellow etc.
