🌸 Everything Is Coming Up…Cherry Blossoms 🌸

I am so excited about today’s post ya’ll for SO many reasons! Not just am I obsessed with this WAYF floral wrap dress, BUT I can’t get over how gorgeous these Cherry Blossoms are at the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens. I have been holding on to these photos for a little bit since I got so swamped with some other content but now FINALLY I get to share this gorgeous shoot I did in NYC!

All of my years living in NYC I never visited the Brooklyn Botanical Garden, let alone heard of it (I know, I know I need to get more cultured) but in reality I was so busy with my day to day life, I never took time in NY to fully explore everything the city that never sleeps has to offer!

Anyways, I finally got to see the Cherry Blossoms in bloom + I paired the perfect dress with my surroundings, this WAYF floral wrap dress. Not only is this dress chic + affordable, it is beyond flattering on so many different figures!

I have been obsessed with WAYF for a while now (their spring + summer dresses have been at the forefront of my closet hehe :p) + their lightweight dresses are ideal for warm summer days, especially humid, hot NYC days (although these photos were shot in the dreery mist of an NYC day, not the hot, humid weather NYC is experiencing now), still looks amazing though right?!

I paired this dress with simple nude patent leather pumps (my go to since they match with everything) + a bright pop of color with this red Gucci bag.

I love neutral pieces paired with bright, bold colors, they make for the best combinations when it comes to chic style.

If there is one thing you should invest in, it is a great pair of nude pumps (I personally love these patent leather ones since they look chic, clean + stylish with every outfit).

Living in LA I don’t wear pumps for my day to day schedule anymore (unless I have business meetings or events) and being back in NYC, wearing my pumps it felt like home. When I was living in NY everyday I dressed up, everyday I felt like Carrie Bradshaw + everyday I opted to walk around NYC in pumps. Wearing these beauties surrounded by Cherry Blossoms on a gorgeous spring day in NY couldn’t have felt better ♥

A lot of people ask me which I like better, NY or LA? To be honest, both cities are polar opposites + I love each in their own way but no matter how far away I may be from the city that never sleeps, it will always be my home.

Tulle + Twirls on the Brooklyn Bridge…

♥ Where Brooklyn At? ♥

I lived in NYC my whole life + never actually visited the Brooklyn Bridge! How crazy is that? But I guess when you are a local native in a city you often don’t take the time to explore your surroundings + what makes your city so unique + special. It took me moving to LA, being away from NYC for years + visiting again to finally explore iconic spots around NYC like the Brooklyn Bridge, Dumbo + so much more.

While I was so happy to see NYC again, I forgot what it was like to be a New Yorker. I used to run around the city all the time, catching trains + subways, hailing cabs + checking out new restaurants while shopping at my favorite spots. It was amazing indeed BUT living in LA where you can drive everywhere, not run to catch a train, not carry all your stuff with you (hey that’s what trunks are for :p), life is definitely different in LA vs NY. I was determined to make this NY trip the best so here was stop one of my NYC excursion.

I was so excited to head to the Brooklyn Bridge + had a vision of pulling off a Carrie Bradshaw esq look there (ICYMI – I am a MAJOR Sex + The City fan…I always considered myself a Carrie but as of late I think I am a Charlotte personality with Carrie style). Sooo while thinking up the perfect outfit I found this gorgeous ombre tulle skirt + instantly knew it was ‘the one‘. I am linking to some similar styles below along with the solid pieces I paired it with like this light blue blazer + beige crop top…letting the skirt take center stage.

I also decided to keep my accessories simple so opted for a beige Gucci Belt, blue + beige Gucci Bag + Nude Pumps!

I love stocking up on basic pieces like these because they go with every ensemble + look classy no matter what the occasion. I wear these nude pumps all the time + this belt matches with all of my dresses + top / skirt combos.

Lovely in Lace…

White Tweed Jacket | Lace Tulle Skirt | Nude Patent Leather Pumps | Chiffon Camisole

♥ Lovely Lace Moment ♥

Love is in the air + so is a little lace…I am swooning over lace tulle skirts at the moment, so when I snagged this skirt I knew it made for the perfect fairytale ‘esq‘ date night ensemble!

I love a great feminine moment + lace tulle skirts are as girly as it can get in my opinion. I find that when you wear them you should let them take center stage so I paired them with some neutral colors, making it a look perfect for date night (I know sometimes tulle skirts can be a bit intimidating for everyday wear).

An added bonus? Every time I wear a tulle skirt I instantly feel like Carrie Bradshaw ♥ Not a bad way to feel, right? 😉 hehe

I highly encourage every gal invest in a little tulle moment – getting a tulle skirt in a neutral color is easier to style for wear on a regular basis (think pairing it with a white tee, a cropped sweater or simply body suit + moto jacket etc).

The detail on this skirt is amazing since it isn’t just tulle, it also has lace detailing adding an extra feminine touch.

Candy Cane…

Tis’ the season to dress like a favorite holiday time treat…a candy cane of course! I instantly fell in love with this ensemble the second I slipped into it and decided that it was a total ‘Holiday‘ must! Who doesn’t love to dress up like a candy cane for Christmas? Now they won’t just be hanging on the tree…but also in your closet 😉 Now that’s what I’d like to call…sweet! It’s the next look up in my ‘Holiday Dressing’ guide…you can see previous looks here, here + here.Before breaking down the look I wanted to just say I hope you all had a fabulous ‘Pre-Christmas’ weekend! I got some holiday shopping done (which ~~may~~ have included some gift giving to myself…oops) and I also checked out a ‘Holiday Light Spectacular’ on Long Island…if you’d like to follow my holiday adventures follow me on instagram at @MissyOnMadison (P.S. I based my whole look around a simple red and white striped scarf (the one I am wearing is from Old Navy and is ~~no longer available~~) but I found similar options (that are on sale of course) here + here.After the scarf came into play…the rest of the outfit just fell into place. Old Navy always has a great selection of solid sweaters that can be worn for any occasion, so I grabbed this white scoop neck sweater on sale for under $20! (Great last minute gift idea ladies and gents!)I’ve had this red faux leather skirt for over a year now and I honestly can’t remember where I snagged it but I found a similar one from BCBG at 6pm.com on sale here!As if the skirt wasn’t enough red…add on one of my favorite styles from Rebecca Minkoff…the ‘mini affair bag‘! Zappos has it on sale now with free shipping here.I decided to go simple with the shoes (couldn’t add any more red…would have been a bit much…don’t ya think?!) So nude patent leather pumps are always chic and are an essential for every fashionista’s wardrobe.
