Getting Organized In The New Year…

New Year, New Me? Well I am going to try…one of my favorite parts about starting my new job is and was stocking up on cute desk accessories…notebooks, agendas, planners…you name it I bought it. A) They are all instagram worthy (duh!) and B) They will help me keep my thoughts, ideas and plans together in one place rather than searching for everything amongst flagged e-mails and iCal memos. While I love technology for some reason I remember things better when they are written down with paper and pen…do any of you guys feel that way? I’ve been this way since college and even high school.

The Excel sheet is the bane of my existence, iCal seems to constantly have glitches and my inbox always gets cluttered…a handy notebook, planner or agenda? Not a single ~~problem~~ as long as you always have it with ya 😉 And when you get desk essentials that are this cute from Bloomingdales, Nordstrom and Kate Spade…it’s hard to forget them anywhere!

New Year…New Post!

Well let me first start off by saying ‘Happy New Year‘! Crazy how we are starting a blank page in a new 365 page book (yes, I saw that quote all over instagram and had to incorporate it somehow into my first New Year post). It’s time for a New Year and a New outfit post…naturally I chose to show off an outfit shot in 2014 in slightly warmer weather (although I insist on wearing skirts year round…even when it is snowing out…I have no shame)! So here’s to an awesome outfit to kick off 2015…a maroon moment!I love rocking a floppy hat especially one that matches my suede booties. A maroon floppy hat is something I tend to get a lot of use out of because it’s the slight pop of color and much needed accessory any outfit requires to stand out. Plus this one is on sale from TopShop for Nordstrom here.My floral kimono cardigan came from a local Long Island boutique but I found a similar one from Urban Outfitters here (and for $50 it’s a total steal). As for my maroon skater skirt I found a similar one at Nordstrom as well for under $30 here.This watch has been one of my favorite goodies sent to me in the year 2014…this Caravelle NY watch is one of my go to’s in my daily line up and it is simple, chic and goes with everything…total must have.I haven’t rocked my Rebecca Minkoff Mini MAB Tote in a while because I always go straight to my ‘Affair Bag’ or my ‘Mini Mac Bag’ but now that I’ve worn it again I think you will be seeing a lot more of it in the new year! And last but not least…the shoes. I bought these maroon suede Calvin Klein booties over a year ago and I found them again at Lord & Taylor for just $32! A Final Farewell to 2013…

This year has been quite the journey for me. Not to sound corny or young or naive but I’d have to say this year has truly been one I will never forget and has transformed me completely!

In the year 2013, I graduated Hunter College with a Bachelors Degree in Media Communications. I found my career path by starting my own social media consultation business, ‘MRT Media Management’…the fact that in the year 2013 you can get paid for running a company’s Twitter, Facebook or Instagram account is pretty amazing…not gunna lie. I landed a great full time career at FFANY (Fashion Footwear Association Of NY) straight out of college…literally a week after I graduated..not a minute to waste. And last but not least, I launched my lovely blog ‘Missy On Madison‘ and met an amazing guy I’m happy to call my boyfriend, Chezi!

In this year alone I went from being a college student whose schedule consisted of working 3 part time jobs and interning for amazing companies all while taking full time college classes…talk about a crazy 4 years! I’m definitely grateful for my college years don’t get me wrong. College gave me the opportunity to intern for WWD…amazing and for Howard Stern…even more amazing. I’ve had experiences most girls my age can only dream of (I have family and friends calling me modern day Carrie Bradshaw…I can only wish) and I’d have to say I truly am blessed…proving that a little hard work, some motivation and of course a ton of passion, leads to success…I’m living proof! I am truly grateful for all that the year 2013 has brought me and as this year comes to a close, I can only hope that the year 2014 will bring you and myself continued health, love, success and of course…the key ingredient to happiness in life…passion!
