How to Score The Best Designer Deals…

♥ DESIGNER BUYS FOR LESS? COUNT ME IN! ♥

If ya’ll know anything about me, you know I LOVE some good designer goodies. Ever since I was a teenager, I began my handbag obsession, saving up for designer bags like Gucci, Dior, LV etc + as I got older I moved on to Chanel, Hermes + more. Recently I have been also stocking up on designer shoes like Jimmy Choo, Manolo Blahnik, Stuart Weitzman + more. While I love designer must-haves, I learned that sometimes buying brand new in store isn’t the most cost effective so I am sharing my secrets with ya here!

First up, SHOES! So I have scored tons of designer heels, boots + more all for 40% Off or MORE! How?? Easy, research baby. I search the SALE section of my favorite sites that have all the designers I love + keep an eye out for certain styles I am lusting after or staple pieces I can interchange with various outfits etc. I found that investing in classic pumps, sandals etc that are nicely constructed really last a while PLUS they are easily repaired from your local shoemaker or one of my go-to shoe + handbag magicians, PurseRehab! They can fix ANYTHING! From resoling your shoes to fixing fabric damage, stains etc…such a must-have if you are a designer lover like me so you don’t worry about messing up your higher end pieces.

While certain staples like the Manolo Blahnik Hangsi Pump may not go on sale brand new from certain retailers, a great option is to search for them ‘New with Tags‘ from eBay Fashion, Poshmark, Yoogi’s Closet, FashionPhile, The Real Real + more! These second hand retailers often have shoes + bags in MINT condition and you can usually save on shipping, tax or snag them under current retail price AND they are all GUARANTEED AUTHENTIC (make sure you 100% verify the seller)!

When it comes to buying second hand designer goods here are some things I look for:

Box, Authenticity Card / Papers, Dust Bag

(these are helpful to verifying the shoes or bag are REAL + AUTHENTIC, plus they are helpful when going to resell in the future if that is something you are interested in doing)

Condition

(examine the photos very carefully, look for discoloration, damaged threading, piping etc, marks, tears etc…while these aren’t deal breakers, they do contribute to quality factor however you may be able to use these hiccups to your advantage + simply go to a place like PurseRehab to repair those issues at a relatively low cost making the items look BRAND NEW for less!)

Compare Costs

(just because you find a Chanel for a killer price doesn’t mean that is the best deal out there, search the serial number of the item – any reputable seller should have that or the full product name for you to do a quick search + compare pricing, condition etc from other sellers)

Whether you are searching for brand new pieces at a trustee retailer like Net-A-Porter, Saks Off Fifth etc or want to score a deal at a second hand luxury site, either way you are sure to find some amazing + unique finds at a fraction of the retail cost, perfect for avid collectors or first time buyers if you are trying to save a little!

Missy’s #NYFW Essentials…

Happy Thursday Loves AND Happy Fashion Week! As the fabulous Carrie Bradshaw once so eloquently said ‘Every year the women of New York leave the past behind and look forward to the future… this is known as Fashion Week.’ I for one am excited for all the chaos…events, parties, shows and tons of new fashion for Spring / Summer 2015! Don’t worry I’ll be sharing all of my fun times with you guys…While the chaos begins today, my appointments and events all start tomorrow! So while I am prepping myself for the festivities I figured I would share my picks with you…even if your not heading to Lincoln Center, these necessities are must haves for day to day activities and appointments!I LOVE my Graphic Image NY Planner…while all my event invitations are usually sent via e-mail, I still prefer to hand write down what I have going on so I don’t forget anything…I’m a firm believer in visualizing things rather than just allowing the notifications to pop up on my phone! My other essentials? A great black tote like this one from Last Call Neiman Marcus, my iPad Mini (for better organizing e-mails, photos etc.), some bling like my gold cuff and my gold Timex, portable Apple charger for my electronics, my Rebecca Minkoff business card holder (only suiting a monogram pouch to hold my MissyOnMadison cards) and last but not least…my mirrored aviators (told you I wasn’t loosing them for fall!).

Just Peachy…

Happy Monday Loves! Time for another busy but productive summer week! I couldn’t wait to share this bright look with you that I shot in Soho 2 weeks ago when I brought my little sister to meet Melissa Ben-Ishay, the Melissa behind the bite sized phenomenon that is Baked By Melissa! My sister is a huge cupcake fan…while i love to indulge every now and then, sweets aren’t my thing…comfort food like Mac & Cheese, Popcorn and Chicken Fingers are…me and popcorn have a love hate relationship. I love it like no other when I’m eating it but within a few hours I instantly regret the salty, dry and sluggish feeling I get after over doing it at the movie theater…because obviously movie theater popcorn is simply the best to have right? :p Anyways, back to today’s look. My peach top is from Old Navy. Button Downs are great for the office, but sometimes white and black can get a little boring, so since I love color, why not stand out with a little peach! My white shorts are from Abercrombie (most likely the clearance table in the back…none the less, a total win). I LOVE both my shoes and bag I’m wearing in this shot. My bag is from Last Call Neiman Marcus, it’s actually their own brand and it reminds me of the Maison Valentino Rockstud Tote. These gold block sandals are from Anne Klein (Traven Sandal) and what I love most about them is the fact that they match wit everything, can be dressed up or down for work or play AND they are super comfortable. Anne Klein has really comfortable footwear, one of the very few brands that can appeal to my style side and my comfort side! It wouldn’t be a complete outfit without a little bling right? I enjoy layering delicate pieces like my Hamsa Hand, Skull and Star necklaces. It’s simple yet chic. Missy In Manhasset…

Missy wasn’t on Madison yesterday, she was in Manhasset! I was so happy to attend the opening of the newest Nordstrom Rack location on Long Island, Manhasset. I got to meet the fabulous Sheryl from ‘Walk In Wonderland‘ and shop some amazing steals before the official grand opening today!

I love Sheryl’s blog and I always love the chance to meet and mingle with other bloggers. They understand the constant need for photos, the best angles and what to show off…Sheryl even made sure both of our handbags were front and center for our photo 🙂 She was such a sweetie, in fact the entire event was! They had fabulous snacks to munch on…nom nom nom and of course amazing accessories, shoes and handbags that I fell in love with! I’m glad I wore a casual look because I wasn’t simply snapping pics but also shopping…oops 😉

Not going to lie, I was so busy shopping I didn’t even stop for a snack break, but I did stop to take a photo, how cute are these? And one of my favorites from Nordstrom Rack…all the Kate Spade jewels and bags…can you say ‘Live Colorfully’?!

Now to my outfit. Well I thought it was only suiting to pay homage to Nordstrom Rack by rocking this chambray top from them! I love a little chambray layered over a tank…it’s easy and fun! I am also obsessed with my new nude, studded handbag from Neiman Marcus Last Call. I spotted it and right away thought it looked like the Valentino bag I was lusting after and had to have it! Isn’t it great? I loved it so much I bought it in 2 other colors 🙂 Bling is always an essential, along with a great Essie manicure. This mani…Bikini So Teeny, don’t you just love the fun names of nail polishes! These shoes are an oldie but a goodie. I bought these from Steve Madden 4 years ago and they are still a favorite of mine. They match with everything and are super comfortable…every gal needs a great nude wedge! Every girl loves a little bling! I decided to play with layering and rock a hamsa hand, a star and a skull! Taking risks 😉
