This is what I am wearing to the office today…NOT! Trust me I am counting down the seconds till I could slip on some shorts and sandals once again, but for now I will have to relive some sunny moments with these photos from one of my outfit shoots in Florida (if you missed my previous Florida posts check them out here + here). The weather was perfect, not too hot…not too cold, just right…The perfect weather to mix a cropped sweater, shorts + of course sandals (how great are these white ankle strap sandals…I can’t wait to wear them all spring/summer long, PS you can get them for under $50 below)!
This white sweater was a staple of mine in Florida because it would be brisk in the morning, warm in the afternoon and then slightly cooler in the evening so this sweater came with me everywhere (a gal has to be prepared at all times :p).My accessories were staples for my trip as well. Simple white sandals can be worn with jeans, shorts, skirts or dresses, so they are a great option to bring when traveling to a warmer climate (which is pretty much anywhere other than New York #GetMeOutOfHere). My bag is from Coach a few years back but I found two similar cross body options here + here. And of course some bling is always in order…I layer this skull necklace over everything + yes, I am totally obsessed with these blue Ray Bans which were a Birthday gift from my parents right before I left for my trip.
So in actuality I am bundled up in layers…warm pants, sweaters, vests and more…pretty much yesterday’s outfit post but hey it’s fun to have a little ‘throwback‘ moment every now and then right? :p| Click To Shop + Share My Look |
I’ve just about had it with all of this snow…at this point the only thing I am finding it to be good for is to cast a nice white backdrop for my outfit photos (and even then it’s not necessarily the best to shoot in…snow + suede do not mix #oops). Although I am not feeling these snowy vibes, I am feeling this all black outfit (with a slight pop of color of course) so to distract myself from the frigid weather outside, I am attempting to stay warm and cozy in oversized sweats while writing this (in case you didn’t know, I write my posts the night before they are published #themoreyouknow). For once I am dressed weather appropriate…I have my winter accessories + shoes in tow to keep me warm, toasty and stylish!
The rest of my ensemble is quite simple…having to wear ‘all black everything’ 3 out of the 5 days of the work week has lead me to gravitate towards easy throw on looks like this one.
I know it’s only ‘hump day’ but the weekend can’t come quick enough. Between the snow, cold and fashion week, this gal needs a little R & R and maybe some Z’s 😉| Click To Shop + Share My Look |
Fashion Week is exhausting, draining, long and fun? Yes, I know every gal dies to go to NYFW (hey I still have butterflies every time I get to go to a show) but let me tell ya…it is rough during fashion week…especially with these freezing temperatures. Nonetheless, I have a little recap of what I’ve went to so far (I’ve been limiting the schedule down a bit due to work and my lack of wanting to go anywhere in this weather). On Friday I popped by the Kendra Scott showroom to check out the new spring and summer collections (I even got a sneak peek at fall). Kendra Scott just gets me…with all of the bright colors and now the ability to layer dainty and simple pieces…I want absolutely everything #ShoppingAddict (yea let’s just say some new Kendra Scott jewels will be making it to the blog in the near future). P.S. Can you guess what is inside? (stay tuned)Friday night I headed to Lincoln Center, the mecca of all things fashion week for the Charlotte Ronson presentation. Naturally I was exhausted, freezing and just wanted to go in, snap some pics and leave but I got a little pep in my step when I got to meet one of my instagram pals in person, Cameron Silver aka the man behind the gray pumps with pink soles I love that I wore in yesterday’s post (if you missed it check it out here). I was waiting on line for the show and then all of a sudden I look up and bam it’s Cameron and recognized ‘Missy’ right away…I felt semi insta famous for a moment (simple things thrill me).And yesterday I went to the Dennis Basso show…filled with plenty of fur and stunning gowns. I wanted each and every piece from the show…although I wouldn’t nearly have enough room to fit it all #oops!Since none of the runway fashions shown in these photos are ‘shoppable’ yet, here are some pieces I want mean while from Dennis Basso, Kendra Scott + Charlotte Ronson.
What a weekend and what a week. One…it’s NYFW and I am beyond stressed (stay tuned for some fashion week diary posts from shows, parties and events) and two it was Valentine’s Day. So I never try to get too personal on here but once again after another interesting dating weekend I learned something…I am completely clueless when it comes to guys so thank god I am not clueless when it comes to all things fashion (hey a girl has to be a master at something right? haha!) and I also am pretty thick headed and refuse to have anything but the best…is it bad to have high expectations? I guess I will find out sooner or later 😉
So if the title didn’t give it away, I am kinda obsessed with the whole Fifty Shades phenomenon. Ok, so I may not have read the book (I must admit I am not a reader) and I have yet to see the movie (it was a busy fashion weekend) but I LOVE the entire movie soundtrack and therefore I decided to rock gray head to toe! So let’s break down the shades of gray…This gray v neck tee from Old Navy is a piece I can’t live without…it’s soft, fits me perfectly and can be dressed up or dressed down for any occasion. So to dress it up, I layered a lighter shade of gray boyfriend blazer over my tee…and to pull the look together…gray pumps.
With NYFW quickly approaching I teamed up with smartwater to share my NYFW prep guide / a little outfit inspiration for the big week in NYC! Fashion Week is a stressful yet exciting time for every blogger…shows to see, parties to attend and outfits to shoot…so I tend to A) Keep my looks simple enough to transition from day to night + B) Stay hydrated and ready to go with smartwater, the official hydrator of NYFW (no matter where I go I always have my bottle handy).
*This story is brought to you by vapor-distilled smartwater, who found unique inspiration for their water by looking up to the sky. We hope the new perspective this piece offers will help inspire you.
My NYFW style always incorporates a killer pair of heels, an easy go to bag and a crisp blazer that pulls the look together. What inspires my look? Easy, simple, chic, classic pieces. Pieces that can be worn season to season, can transition well for any occasion and are pieces that are flattering on every figure. While I am never one to shy away from color during February NYFW I tend to keep my winter neutrals paired with a little pop (my pop being white). Since NYFW is such a hectic time I prep the best way I know how…with a little rest, relaxation and of course a vacation! Last week I headed on a pre-fashion week trip to Orlando Florida (where I shot these photos…hence the lack of snow covering the ground and the ability to wear white pumps). I spent the weekend at Disney World and every hour on the hour I was guzzling another bottle of smartwater to stay hydrated as I was running around…which in a way reminded me of running from show to show, party to event all week long during fashion week. My takeaway? Stay HYDRATED (trust me it’s much needed).Although I am always carrying a ton while attending the shows, my Rebecca Minkoff Affair Bag has been my go to for the past few seasons. It fits all my essentials: camera, iPhone charger, sunglasses, water bottle, makeup and more. Not too big, not too small…just right 😉 I wish fashion week was in a warmer climate this season but what can you do…it gives me an excuse to wear vegan leather leggings like these ones from Lysse that not only keep me warm, but they are as stylish and as chic as could be.
