♥ Uncertain Times Call For Some Positivity ♥

We are experiencing something unexpected, something we haven’t dealt with before, a time of uncertainty + at times depressing, stressful + overall exhausting. From the unpleasant news of unemployment numbers, to big life milestones being put on hold or postponed, to worrying about the health + well-being of yourself, your friends + your family, we are all looking for the bright side, an end date + some sign of hope for the future.

While I am far from an expert on positivity, I myself have been in a bit of a funk + found some things that have been able to cheer me up, brighten my day + spread some good vibes all around! Let me know if these help ♥

     1. Take A Deep Breath + Find Your Peace + Calm

We are all overwhelmed + sometimes you need to take a moment to take a deep breath + realign your mind. Whether it is doing some meditation with an app like CALM or enjoying a peaceful walk in the mornings, take time to breath and find your inner peace.

     2. Do A Daily Workout

While I am usually someone who is not a fan of working out, I have found that 30-60 minutes of exercise a day has helped de-stress me + keep me feeling good, I suppose what Elle Woods said is true…Exercise gives you endorphinsEndorphins make you happy. Happy people just don’t shoot their husbands, they just don’t. hehe :p We’ve been going for walks daily, doing Yoga on some free apps in the app store and some HIT workouts also on apps from the app store.

    3. Take Time For Self-Care

Whether it is setting up a little at home spa day, taking a long shower, enjoying a bubble bath, doing a little face mask or simply taking time for yourself to re-center and relax, even though we are in a time of social distancing and may be home with kids and family members or your significant other, make time for yourself to be alone + care for yourself.

    4. Be Grateful + Thankful

This one can be tough especially with everything going on but we all have something to be grateful + thankful for. While I often have thoughts during the day of being upset about things I am missing out on or am uncertain about, I at the end of the day think about what I am grateful for which for me is my health, my fiance + keeping busy with my work + creating content. Take a few minutes each day to write down in the notes app on your phone or say out loud what you are grateful for, it definitely helps put things into perspective and not feel that bad.

     5. Keep Yourself Busy + Occupied

Whether you recently got furloughed or you are home all day with your kids homeschooling etc, be sure to keep your mind active + keep busy. Even when you feel like binging Netflix all day or lounging on the couch, Im personally finding its important to keep myself busy with things that stimulate my mind + make me feel like I am accomplishing little goals each day. Since I normally work from home I am constantly setting daily goals for myself to assure I keep myself on track whether its writing new blog posts, shooting new imagery, replying to e-mails, brainstorming whats next for my agency etc.

If you were furloughed begin redesigning your resume, amp up your LinkedIn, create a blog, Youtube or social media channel for better showcase who you are and your work abilities etc. This will keep you busy and put you ahead of the game once the job market is looking a bit better. If you are at home with your kiddos focus on some new lessons you can teach them, activities you can enjoy together, a book you can read etc!

     6. Learn Something New

Whether it is a DIY activity, reading a new book, taking a online class, cooking up a new recipe in the kitchen etc. Use this downtime to your advantage and see it as a positive instead of a negative…more time to better yourself and come out of quarantine with some new knowledge than before you went in!

     7. Think Of The Future

This one is tough for me especially because for us in LA there isn’t a specific end date for when things will resume and get back to normal. While there is a lot of question marks on the future, think of happy times ahead like your next vacay destination, being back to work, being able to reunite with friends and family etc. Having something to look forward to gives a little light at the end of the tunnel.

     8. Dress Up + Get Ready

I know it feels easy to lounge in sweats + PJS but something I’ve found that cheers me up is doing my hair + makeup, putting on a cute outfit + feel like I would if I was going out + about. The saying goes when you look good, you feel good + I definitely agree…while I love being in comfy clothes, something feels better in my day when I feel pretty when I look in the mirror! It may seem like a lot of work for no reason but trust me…it helps.

P.S. I find wearing bright colors + prints brings some joy + happiness to your day. The bright colors bring on good vibes.

     9. Be Kind + Smile

Even when you want to scream, cry, or just feel helpless, take the time to be kind to those around you – the grocery store clerk, doctors, delivery people, those in your home etc. SMILE, think happy thoughts + be kind. Kindness spreads joy to those around you.

     10. Remember Things Will Be Back To Normal Soon

Even in those helpless moments remember its ok to not be OK + that things will be back to normal soon and we ALL feel this way…unsure, uneasy + craving some answers.

    Happy Wednesday Babes ♥

I don’t know about you, but I have been swamped the past few days! My brother’s flight got canceled so that means more family bonding time and less time to work on the blog haha and then the high temps out in LA have been draining, physically + mentally. We went to two amusement parks, Beauty Con, countless tourist sites + much, much more. Honestly, being a hostess with the mostess can be exhausting sometimes, who is with me?! Anyways, a sure fire way to re-center myself and relax is with blogging, so here I am, sharing a new look I love from Simply Be!

    Happy Monday Babes ♥

I hope ya’ll had a great weekend! I am prepping for another crazy week filled with work, events, shoots + prepping to move. Yup, Missy is moving and I can’t wait!! I spent the weekend furniture shopping and designing my perfect home office space and living space with my boo. We are moving into a new place + that means plenty of decor + interior design content to come (because who doesn’t obsess over HGTV specials + dream of designing their home that way? Am I right?! :p)

We move in in the next few weeks so it’s a lot of picking styles, laying out the space + envisioning what it’ll be like to live there. I for one can’t wait for a bigger place because my apartment is a bit cramped so we are moving a little ways from LA where there is more space + less congestion…I may be a city girl but honestly as I have gotten older, I much prefer a quiet, humble abode. Anyways, to take my mind off the hectic moving plans (and little boxing up my three closets worth of clothes haha) I am taking a look back at one of my casual easy looks I wore in Paris over the fall that is a perfect spring transition look!

Looking back at these photos has me dreaming of my next trip to Paris. I honestly loved this city (mainly due to it’s beauty + duty free shopping) hehe but also because it’s a place wear casual chic is the style of choice. I lived in easy dresses + cardigans when I was there in the fall, and this look was one of my favorites.

Old Navy is my go-to when it comes to fit & flare dress options. Whether you like a v-neck, square shape or round neck, they have different silhouettes, colors + designs that fit your look + taste. In my opinion you can never go wrong with a simply black fit & flare like this one, so I tend to pack this with me on every trip since you can dress it up or down depending on the occasion! Best part? 90% of the time they are ON SALE from Old Navy (especially online, they have discounts daily)!

I am also loving a great duster cardigan like this one to style with a dress, jeans or even shorts + a blouse. It is easy to layer over + looks a little dressier than your average sweater cardigan.

    Happy Friday Loves!

I don’t know about you BUT I am super excited for the weekend. I actually am starting a new job Monday which allows me to work from home + get out and network more with all of my favorite influencers, which is a dream come true AND I am also pumped for Mike + I’s upcoming trip to Florida for my birthday ♥ With so many exciting things happening I wanted to take a moment to stop + reflect back on how amazing 2017 was (and what an amazing start 2018 is off to)! One of my favorite moments of 2017? Visiting London twice! If you asked me in 2016 if I had any plans for international travel (let alone planned on visiting London), I would have said you were crazy. But here we are…a few weeks in to 2018 + I am sharing a look I shot at my dream photo location…the colorful houses in Notting Hill!

When I first visited London in September I wore this cape coat everywhere and when I went back in December for the holidays, this cape was still a staple for me! I feel like it is just so classy and I loved styling it over cozy sweaters to dress up an otherwise casual look.

This cape coat is currently on sale from Shein along with my white cable knit sweater from Old Navy. To be honest, pretty sure all of my sweaters are from Old Navy because they are such a good price + amazing quality.

This pink bandage skirt is perfect for Valentine’s Day date night – make it casual with a chunky sweater or dress it up with a crop top or camisole!

This Louis Vuitton is another one I was lusting after for a while (it’s currently waitlist only) – it is actually considered a toiletry pouch but I love wearing it as a clutch. It is great to wear for a night out since it has tons of room and the LV signature monogram matches with everything!

A favorite of mine…white pointed toe pumps. They are just so chic, aren’t they? Can’t go wrong with a classic!

Happy Monday Babes ♥ I feel like I am finally getting back into the groove when it comes to blogging. Between traveling and transitioning into an exciting new job (ICYMI I am finally working at a place where my creativity + ideas are well appreciated + can actually be executed – it is BEYOND thrilling + satisfying hehe) I have been slacking a bit on the blog front – it is hard to balance everything…let me tell ya :p BUT slowly but surely I am throwing myself back into my passion – my blog!

Something I realized while experiencing London with Mike, is that if you told me a year ago I would be traveling outside the country with someone who is the ying to my yang I would never have believed you. I was always stuck in this state of mind of ‘work work work‘ which got me to where I am today however it never made me feel fulfilled. I always dreamed of being at a job that provided me a work/life balance, a place where I was happy and encouraged to speak up + a place where I can let my true talents shine. I thought I found that place at my previous company however I was in for a shocking surprise. In light of all the work place harassment that is coming to the surface in various industries, it is important to know that while a lot of hostile work environments come from sexual harassment (Harvey Weinstein is beyond repulsive + the fact that he got away with his grotesque treatment of women for so long is astonishing) harassment comes in all shapes and sizes…from men + women. Sometimes harassment isn’t an inappropriate gesture or encounter, sometimes it is simply verbal + can really shake someone to their core.

Let me start by saying this (pre-face this is a bit of a personal post), I have been passionate about social media + influencer marketing since I began my career 5 years ago. I worked my a** off to get to where I am today, to build up a network of influencers who always have my back + support every journey I take, a network of colleagues that always jump to help me anyway they can and a passion that has (and still is) my driving force to always do better than the day before. One of the worst moments I have ever encountered in my career was realizing that ‘Mean Girls’ aren’t just an issue teen girls deal with in middle school + high school…the reality is that even as an adult ‘Mean Girls’ are still out there – pretty crazy considering we are in a time all about female empowerment, raising each other up, supporting each other etc.

What I experienced was something that taught me a lot about the type of business woman I am + will forever be…real. For the past year I worked with an amazing team of people that taught me so much, helped me grow + showed me what an asset I am to any team…what I also learned + experienced for the first time was the ‘boss’ who validates themselves by bringing others down – sounds familiar right? (Regina George didn’t remain in high school let me tell ya haha). I didn’t realize this was a common occurrence until I read a few Forbes articles on the subject. Turns out that even though we get older, that doesn’t necessarily mean we grow up.

Maybe some of you have experienced a boss or supervisor trying to bring you down + can relate to my story and if not, I really hope it is something you never have to go through since it feels like a personal attack on your work ethic + passion…it sucks. After being at my last job for a good amount of time, a moment happened that will be stuck in my mind forever – it was a moment where I learned who I was, it was the moment I vowed to work for a team (and boss) that had more respect for me and appreciation for all the work I do, it was a moment I grew. I won’t go into too much detail but I was told that I had to be ‘put in my place‘, amongst other things – taking jabs about the job I have been doing etc. I sat there in shock – here I am an eager, hard working employee whose boss (that preaches female empowerment + being a ‘boss lady’) is telling me that basically there is in fact a ‘glass ceiling’ and there I was hitting it. I never thought much of the other comments + behavior that had been thrown my way since I started there, but it all felt like it has culminating to this moment. I instantly felt a pit in my stomach and sat there not knowing how to react. Still months later I think back to that day + am mad at myself for not speaking up, for not saying this is wrong for one female to tear another female down + for not just walking away right there but instead I pulled myself together, spoke to my family and Mike and it became clear to me that ‘her’ goal was to try and break me…that was something I refused to let happen.

I had watched this boss chew girls up and spit them out, now I have heard plenty of horror stories about Anna Wintour (my idol haha) + other powerful women but at the end of the day it isn’t a personal and vindictive attack, it’s business – what I experienced was different. Over the course of a year I saw various females at this company be spoken to in a condescending manner, told they weren’t ‘good enough’ and basically harassed in order to encourage them to quit or lead them to being joyous when it came to getting fired. Watching this (and living this) day in + day out made me sick to my stomach and I would tell my parents + friends, I don’t understand why someone acts like that, I don’t understand what provokes someone to insist on tearing others down. Well…as they say, you live + you learn, I learned from that boss (who thought the world of herself – let me tell ya haha) that no matter what position I am in, my morals + integrity will stay in tact, I will also treat others the way I would like to be treated (it’s funny – pretty sure I learned that from a ‘Barney’s Best Manner’s’ video as a child haha the saying still rings true no matter how old you are) :p

During that tumultuous time, I was loosing my passion for blogging, my career…everything I cherished so much about myself. It is crazy how one person can have that effect on you, but it happens. Fast forward to the day I walked out that door (knowing that I was off to a new company that fought for me and wanted me) I finally felt free. I got home, began packing for London, called Mike and literally said ‘I am free’. Life is too short to be anything but happy and when that plane landed in London + I saw Mike for the first time in months all the pain I was experiencing from loosing myself for a moment went away. I felt whole again, I felt invigorated again + I felt passion for what I love to do again.

All in all this story (other than getting this off my chest finally) is meant to show that harassment comes in all forms, there isn’t a textbook definition + so many people experience it on a daily basis in their work environments by both men + women. While I am not sure if there is a sure fire way to stop it, a simple start is to treat others with humility + respect…try it, it doesn’t cost a penny extra 😉

This outfit was shot the day after I landed in London, I was carefree, finally happy + couldn’t believe I was actually in LONDON!!!

My dress is from ShopTheMint one of my fav online retailers however I linked to some similar styles since it is currently sold out. As for my moto jacket, it was my go-to throughout my trip since it was easy to layer on any outfit while exploring the various tourist destinations (I even wore it around Paris).

I LIVED in these Yosi Samra ballet flats. I didn’t realize how much walking there was in London (very similar to NYC which I haven’t been back to in over a year haha) so while I wanted to rock my cute heels + boots everyday, these flats were more realistic + the gold color matched with everything!

I also rocked my Louis Vuitton Pouchette Metis daily since it was such an easy crossbody bag to wear around town AND have enough room for my multiple phone chargers haha and makeup :p
