Give Extra, Get Extra! That’s my motto when it comes to prepping for a night out. Whether it’s a girl’s night out or a fun date night, being prepared for wherever the night may take you is key! Over time I have learned to always keep a few essentials in my purse (because nothing is worse than missing something you really need when you are out right? #ugh :p) I teamed up with Walgreens and Extra Gum to share how I get prepped for a night out in no time!

Step 1. Pre-plan your outfit!

This was the best thing I learned at my first job when I was in NYC. A lot of the time I would want to head out for happy hour after work with my coworkers or go to a girl’s dinner and didn’t want to wear the same outfit I wore to the office. What’s a gal to do? Pre-plan an outfit and have it ready to go! Whether I decided to bring it to the office or simply have it hanging on the door, planning ahead saves time, makes you feel more relaxed and helps you feel confident wherever you go!

Step 2. Always bring your essentials!

Whether you opt for a clutch, a cross body or even a tote, making sure you have anything you may need for a night out is key!

My essentials? Easy:

*Phone (of course)

*Lipgloss

*Mascara

*Backup Phone Charger

*A Mini Hairspray

and most importantly…GUM!

I always like to have a pack of gum on me because you never know who you are going to meet! It can be a cutie at the bar, a potential employer, a new friend…who knows! But one thing I do know is that I most certainly want my breathe smelling fresh and I always need a good conversation starter!

Party Planning With Coke Zero + Oreo…

Just call me hostess with the mostess! As I get older, I am slowly but surely learning how much prep work goes in to throwing the ‘perfect party‘ or gathering (it’s a lot…Martha Stewart I give you credit :p). Between the shopping, coordinating, decorating etc. It really takes a lot of time and attention to detail, so what’s a gal to do when she has just 2 days to plan and throw the best NCAA viewing party ever? (ok…exaggerating a little…it may not have been the ‘best’ but it was pretty close if you ask me haha!) Make a plan + get to it! Here’s my ‘How to throw a fun bash on a budget!’

There is no handbook on how to throw a fun, affordable get together, but here are a few of my awesome tips that helped me prep for a great NCAA viewing party!

1.Make a list of your party essentials — I am a visual person so making a list of the snacks, decor or favors I will need really helps me prep for my trip to the store (plus it helps me make sure I don’t forget anything)!

2.Search your local stores flyers to circle what items you need — This is a great chance to see what specials are happening / sales going on. I got lucky at Von’s and discovered thatCoca-Cola Zero™ was on sale just in time for my viewing party! (Usually, the more you buy, the more you save — this kind of deal is perfect for a party since you are normally buying in bulk anyway)!

3.Head to the store — After getting your list together and going through the weekly circular to make note of what to get, it’s time to head to the store and stock up (and save)!

For this party, I headed to Von’s to shop for my party snacks (specifically Coke Zero + OREO…they are kinda my favorite + super yummy…so if there are leftovers, I get to have what I actually like haha!)

4.Start setting up — After shopping, that leaves one thing…begin setting up for the party! I picked out cute glassware, serving trays + bowls to serve snacks and beverages in (I mean if i am throwing a party it has to be insta-worthy :p).

And voila! You are basketball viewing party ready!

Gummy Bear Night Light : DIY Cinema Lightbox : You Are Beautiful Cursive Sign

Living on my own has been a challenge ever since leaving NY. Paying rent and utilities, cleaning the apartment (because nothing drives me nuts more than coming home to a messy apartment after a long day at work) and cooking for myself (still a ‘work in progress‘ lol) are things that I am still getting used to day by day.

One thing I do L O V E about living on my own? Decorating my apartment!!! Finally I get to add my personal touches to my ‘home sweet home‘…that’s the best feeling ever! So where have I turned to add some unique finishing touches to my Hollywood apartment? Uncommon Goods!

I love finding pieces that are different from those everyone else has. What is great about Uncommon Goods is the fact that they are just that…Uncommon! I picked a few decor items that would really stand out amongst the rest…first off being this Gummy Bear Light (in my favorite color purple of course). I am such a kid at heart and a gummy bear night light is kinda perfect if you ask me :p

One of my other current favorites from Uncommon Goods? This DIY Cinema Lightbox! In case you weren’t aware, I LOVE going to the movies (mainly for the popcorn :p) but also because my brother is a huge movie buff (wants to be a director one day) and I kinda love getting into debates with him over whether a night a movie is ‘good’ or not 😉 Let’s just say he is a tough critic lol!

Anyways, I think this DIY Cinema Lightbox is so fun and unique! It comes with 72 letters, numbers + symbols to help you spell out various phrases (little pick me ups or cute morning memos etc) and it can be placed on a shelf or hung up on the wall…great for your home, dorm room + beyond! I haven’t seen an item like this anywhere which makes it that much cooler in my book!

And what belongs in a blogger’s apartment more than flowers? (how cliché right? :p) A little reminder that ‘You Are Beautiful‘ duh! I love having cute sayings around the house because they always put a smile on my face. What gal doesn’t want to wake up to seeing ‘You Are Beautiful’?!

This cursive wooden sign comes in two sizes and it is super easy to install on your wall. The sign comes with little square adhesives that have a strong hold and don’t leave marks on your walls (perfect for apartments…one less hole in the wall to patch up at the end of the lease haha :p)

I am still lusting after a bunch of other pieces from Uncommon Goods!
