Bring on the C O L O R♥ One thing I love about spring into summer is the ability to wear even more color than I do normally (sometimes wearing neon in the fall or winter looks a bit much tbh :p) but now…all bets are off! In addition to embracing more color in my wardrobe, I am excited to start adding tons of ‘Pops Of Color’ in my new apartment! Officially moving in on June 1st…but I am spending this month gathering interior inspo and setting up my place so it’s totally insta-worthy 😛 #DreamComeTrue I first wore this floral kimonoback in the fall and realized it was in the back of my closet and was longoverdue to be worn again! I love it because it is easy, lightweight and adds a little extra something to any look! I paired it with this Apt. 9 camisole and Old Navy Rockstar skinny jeans (most comfortable jeans I own)!
My accessories are perfect to pair with any look that you want to add some color too! GiGi NY has the cutest bags and I LOVE their neon collection — this magenta GiGi NY clutch adds just the right color I need year round AND it matches these fuschia / magentaankle strap heels perfectly!
Stepping into Spring in Style…you know that’s just how I do :p OK…jk…too much rap music on the way to work in the morning haha! For real now, I am loving the idea of a ‘short suit‘ (especially a white one) for spring! I know #AllBlackEverything is always on point, but I am kinda digging a new trend…#AllWhiteEverything (maybe it will catch on…thoughts?) 🙂
With Easter just days away, I decided why not share a look that doesn’t involve a dress (although I shared my top dress picks yesterday, here) ? I mean who decided a dress was the proper thing to wear for Easter brunch or family time? If you ask me…holiday time is the perfect time to make a statement…what better way to make a statement than to stand out in a clean, crisp look like this one (and of course, bright, colorful accessories are in order :p)
Let’s break down how to get an All White Look –> 1. A chic white boyfriend blazer (perfect spring into summer essential…for work, play + beyond) 2. A simple white chiffon camisole (like this one from TopShop — matches with everything) AND 3.White cotton shorts (dress them up, dress them down…either way…they are a ‘must have’).
#OutTake moment :p That’s what I love about shooting with friends…they always make me laugh haha! Makes for great impromptu photo ops like this one!
These nude ankle strap sandals are great for year round (especially in LA) they can be worn with absolutely everything! Helps take the guess work out of outfit pairing in the morning 😉
My bag is the definition of spring — Pastel colorblock hues, floral design and a great leather material…I am slightly obsessed (ok…very obsessed haha) with this Nicole Lee USA bag (an LA native like myself)!
And my cobalt blue accessories…#PopOfColor is always a Y E S ♥
Spring…here I am :p P.S. Today I am off to a busy day with my gal pal Holly from Vera Bradley! She is in town + we are heading to the Ellen Show AND we are going to be total beliebers and see Justin Bieber at the Staples Center (and I am SO Excited #DontJudgeMe :p)! Follow along on SnapChat –> MISSYONMADISON ♥
It’s starting to feel a lot like S P R I N G! And I couldn’t be happier! Spring has always been my favorite season (whether in NY or LA) because it starts warming up so I can wear all of my favorite dresses, skirts + sandals while also not sweating in a heat wave like I do over the summer haha!
To kick off my first of many spring style posts, I teamed up with Burlington…aka the premier destination to score chic finds for less (just up my alley right?!) Burlington has up to 65% off department store prices every day! So I was beyond excited when they gave me the challenge of putting a head-to-toe spring look together for under $50…challenge accepted and challenge completed 😉
I scored both my black + white striped shift dress from Burlington as well as my nude lace up heels! Two ‘on trend’ pieces for spring that can be transitioned from work to play and beyond. What I love about a classic shift dress is that it is an easy outfit choice in the morning…just slip it on and you are ready to head out the door! Nothing beats that (especially for a gal like me who is always running late in the morning — hey Starbucks is always a priority what can I say :p)
This dress in particular I love because A) It’s only $7.99 on BurlingtonStores.com (YES it is in fact $7.99 for this gorgeous dress…how crazy is that?!) It’s the perfect piece to add to your spring rotation and I dressed it up for spring with some bright accessories!
My other Burlington find were these nude lace up sandals (similar to the ones I found in store). I mean they are great for the office, girl’s night, date night etc. Nude matches with everything, they are super comfortable and I can’t get over how great they fit (normally I struggle with heels if the arch is too high or if they are too narrow or too wide etc. Not these beauties…they are picture perfect!)
These heels cost only $17.99! How great is that? Head-To-Toe outfit completed! Bam!
I always like to add color to all of my looks, especially for spring, so I added a few of my own accessories to the look. For some neon I added my own satchel + for a P O P of blue I added one of my favorite necklaces in Cobalt and of course my mirrored aviators (a spring / summer / year roundessential for everyone…just sayin’).
And Voila!A head-to-toe spring look that’s on trend and doesn’t break the bank…easy as 1,2,3 and it’s all thanks to Burlington! Burlington has up to 65% off department store prices every day!
P I N K…Regina George would be proud and I would totally fit in with the ‘Plastics‘ right 😉 Ok, I am not in support of the whole clique situation however I am a fan of wearing pink (on a Wednesday). Nothing I love more than making a colorful statement and this Hutch Design skirt does just the trick. It’s perfect for the office (pairing it with a blazer makes me board room ready — although my office doesn’t really do ‘board meetings’ we are fun after all haha). My outfit matches my office — bright, colorful and plenty of pink. That’s one of the things I love about my job, work hard, play hard and work in a fun environment.
A white boyfriend blazer is a piece I am constantly mixing and matching for work and play. Since my company doesn’t have a specific dress code, a crop top with this high waisted skirt is perfect for the office and is great to wear straight to happy hour!
I feel like I look like cotton candy…not just with the pink, but also with my pops of blue. My cobalt blue bag is no longer available, but I found a similar style from Tory Burch here (and it is the perfect going-out bag…kinda obsessed and need to put it on my holiday wishlist — coming soon :p).
I love Kendra Scott statement pieces, so it comes as no surprise that I needed to get this Rayne Necklace in blue (I have worn the pink one all summer long and figured it was about time for a different hue). It adds a ‘pop of color‘ to any outfit 😉
Gray pumps have become a favorite of mine for the fall and winter months. I feel like gray is such an under worn color and I don’t get why. It is the perfect fall into winter hue that matches with any look.
Summer is officially over…or so they say. Hey, a little holiday isn’t going to make me say farewell to summer or to color for that matter 😉 Anyways I hope you all had a great holiday weekend…I got to catch up with an old friend from NY which was long overdue, shoot some new outfits (which is an every weekend occurrence) and then do a little re-evaluating about my current state of affairs. When I decided to make the move out to LA it was far from planned out…it was a get up and go scenario. I didn’t really have time to think out my game plan but after a nice relaxing weekend, I decided it’s time to start making my dreams happen…stay tuned for what is to come…it is a work in progress 😉 I already got a job I love, my blog is doing better than ever and I love being in LA however I always wanted to live near the beach…so my new mission is to start figuring out how I can wake up and put my feet in the sand every morning! Pretty awesome goal right?
Something that will continue to be a goal of mine? Wearing plenty of color year round. A great way to incorporate color into your wardrobe is by pairing it with neutral hues. I layered this floral printed kimono from Candie’s at Kohls (on sale now for $17) over this oatmeal colored Threads For Thought dress (the perfect dress to wear year round since it can be styled multiple ways).
My accessories I kept bright and colorful as always. This GiGi NY magenta clutch is the perfect Pop Of Color for fall and it is my go to for date nights or even a quick happy hour with the girls (and by happy hour I mean an after work appetizer haha — hey what can I say, I am not a big drinker) haha.
