The weather can be an inconvenient factor in planning a fun day with your family or pals. You could arrange the cutest picnic in the park, with finger sandwiches, chocolate brownies and ball games, yet the whole plan is ruined by the atmosphere’s wicked wet ways.
Me? I LOVE the rain. I love the smell of my garden as it falls on the grass, I love the sound of it dropping onto my skylight window, and I love feeling of it rolling down my skin. Most of all, however, I love how it allows me to stay in my lovely sheltered home, free of guilt, and able to do all my favorite activities…
1. Netflix Binge
Oh, Netflix. However tremendously unoriginal, this platform is one of the most genius inventions of this generation. Not to mention, it somehow lead to the infamous, virally spread and rather suggestive concept of “Netflix and Chill.”
Constant online streaming permits access to some of the best TV shows there are: Stranger Things, Peep Show, How I Met Your Mother, Gilmore Girls, Gossip Girl… need I go on? Whether you are spending your rainy day in alone, with your love, or with your pals, there is bound to be something you can enjoy!
Online Gaming
I am an absolute sucker for online gaming. Whether it’s a simple game of Tetris, a couple of rounds on a virtual slot machine, or solid few games of online bingo, I really enjoy devoting a good hour or two to some gaming when the miserable weather calls for it.
For me, the best sites are those that have a lot of variety, in the nature and theme of the games. I often use mFortune for my rainy day session, as I love their pun-derful, bee-themed slot game, Double Your Honey. This site is particularly recommendable for its transparency of costs too. DYH states a cost of a minimum of 2p per spin, but they do in fact offer free bingo games, with no deposit necessary. Online slots have come a long way in terms of updating what we used to find in real-life casinos, and they’re worth exploring if you haven’t had a chance to.
Pinterest Board Making
Pinterest is modern technology’s answer for mood board making – or as they phrase it themselves, “the world’s catalogue of ideas”. It is a great way to find inspiration or develop, and conceptualize innovative ideas. You simply create and name a board, then pin items to it, through either browsing within the site, or – should you have the “Pin it” plug in installed – wherever else on the internet.

Pampering
One thing I absolutely love to set aside a good length of time for, every so often, is a bath. I’ll ensure there are plenty of bubbles, candles, and calming music, then really scrub, buffer and polish my skin. Next, I will coat my body in coconut oil, proven to do wonders for the skin and hair. If I’m feeling really in the need, I may even finish off with a DIY manicure!
Either way, a bit of pamper time is the perfect way to spend a rainy day in. This, combined with a film, a few games of bingo, and some inspiration hunting, is what I would consider a simply fabulous day!
