Green With Envy

Although it’s still freezing out here in the Big Apple, I’m slowly trying to welcome spring into my wardrobe with some pops of color! This Nordstrom bag, scored on clearance of course does just the trick. Something I always enjoy doing is spicing up a simple outfit with a brightly colored accessory.

What I love about this bag is that it isn’t my usually style. I tend to steer clear of satchels because of their boxy feel and that they simply can’t fit as much as they look like they could, but this bag is different. The flexible leather material allows for it to expand with however much stuff you fill it up with and it’s a great bag to wear to the office or to run errands on the weekends.

As you know, I have a thing for dressing up plain pieces, so when it’s a jeans and a white tee kind of day, why not layer a chic faux fur vest over it? I have to be ‘out there’ every now and then haha 😉 This look is great for a casual Friday at the office or for a girl’s night out on the weekend! A classic faux fur vest can instantly transform an otherwise ordinary outfit into a show stopper, because I’m sorry but who doesn’t love a little faux fur in moderation?! I sure do!

I also was never a huge fan of ‘fringe’ but I love these booties from Isola because 1) They are super comfortable…now this means I can walk all around Manhattan in these, stand in line for 2 hours to meet Sarah Jessica Parker for the launch of her shoe line {Read Post Here} and get home without a single blister…that’s comfort. 2) They are simple and cute…a total win win!

While I’m not sure what the rest of the day holds for me, one thing I do know is that it will be handled in style 😉

Winter White!

So it may be a so called fashion ‘faux pas’ to where white in the fall and winter seasons, but as you may know, I have a thing for breaking the rules. Neon in winter, never wearing tights, a faux fur vest in the summer…I tend to wear what I want when I want haha 😉 That’s why I was so excited to wear white jeans in the white snow!

I finally embraced the winter wonderland outside and so did my sister (my photographer) who had a little too much fun writing cute things in the snow during this shoot! I’m wearing these great fitting ‘Rockstar Jeans‘ from Old Navy, fringed Isola wedged boots (scored on sale at 6pm.com), my new GiGi NY hot pink clutch with my initials, an easy chiffon blouse from Old Navy and some C. Wonder and Nordstrom bling…topped off with Urban Outfitters sunnies!

I love this look because it is great for work or play and it is simple and easy. I also love the black and white look with a pop of pink…I love a great ‘Pop Of Color‘ any chance I get! The winter season tends to get me a little down, but a cute outfit can instantly lift my mood and my attitude…snow and cold? No problem…nothing a little fashion and style can’t fix 😉

Working in NYC I tend to get asked a lot, ‘Excuse me what time is it?’…Yes, hard to believe that in the age where we wear watches as a bracelet and have phones glued to our hands, that people still ask eachother what time it is but hey to each his own. Anyway, there is no better way to accessorize an outfit and keep on track during the day than with a watch that stands out and will never go out of style.

This brings me to why I LOVE Michael Kors watches. Besides the fact that I have a major style crush on Michael and think no one ever made jeans, a white tee and a black blazer look so good…I love that he caters to every type of woman. Meaning he has watches that are $150-$300 for the gal in high school, college, or a newbie to the working world, and then he has pieces that can cost upwards of $800…the choice is completely up to you. He makes versatile styles that can go with any outfit and the best part in my opinion is the quality.

I’m not going to lie, I happen to be guilty of owning a few Michael Kors watches myself…because like shoes, handbags and outfits…a fashionista always needs options. However something I will always love about a good watch is that it is timeless (haha had to throw that in there..time..timeless..oh it’s going to be a great day 🙂 ) Anyway, watches are a signature staple of every outfit and whichever you wear says a lot about you…whether it’s bedazzled, simple, pink, blue…that watch speaks wonders about your personality and when someone shakes your hand…it’s part of a first or last impress 😉 Choose Wisely!

My One Stop Beauty Shop: Ulta

Every girl has her go to store for all things beauty. Some gals are devoted Sephora fans others opt to head to Bloomingdales or Saks, however personally, my fav go to beauty store is Ulta.

It’s the perfect place for a girl on a budget, they always have coupons, sales and free gifts with purchase and what I love most? They have amazing customer service and go above and beyond to accommodate their customers!

Ulta has all the brands you love: Estée Lauder, Calvin Klein, Bareninerals, Paul Mitchell and more, all at affordable prices and with experts who can match you with the products that suit you best.

Another thing I truly love about Ulta, their return policy. How many times do you try a new shade of foundation or a certain lipstick and realize it just isn’t for you? What do you do? Eat the cost? Attempt to return it and the store not take it back? Give it to your sister? Well at Ulta they will take anything and I mean anything back if your not happy, even if you lost the receipt and the package is open they will give you a store credit and can even look up the purchase on your credit card or Ulta rewards card which leads me to my next reason on why I love Ulta…the rewards.

Ulta has one of the best rewards programs around and trust me I looked into Sephora, Bareminerals etc. 4 times a year Ulta sends you a rewards booklet with the level you reached based on your purchases for that particular time frame.

You can score shampoos, lipsticks, mascara or even a flat iron, blow dryer or curling iron! The rewards never expire, although there is an expiration date the managers always accept them past that date and they will help you find whatever you need.

If I haven’t convinced you to check out Ulta I’m not quite sure what will, but like I said, you have nothing to loose with their happiness guarantee and their unbeatable prices!
