    Irresistible Me Hair Extensions

How does that famous saying go? Long Hair, Don’t Care…well that is my new motto thanks to my newest obsession – clip in hair extensions from Irresistible Me Hair! I have been wanting to try hair extensions for years (even when I was working at a hair salon for years while I was in college – although at that point I was considering permanent extensions till every hair dresser told me not to do it due to the damage it causes your hair)…well one major perk that I was excited about when trying out these new human hair clip in extensions? The fact that they give me the volume + length I want without damaging my natural hair!!! Now that is a major win in my book 😉

I figured there was no better time to test out these clip in beauties than for my birthday shoot. I have to admit, I wasn’t the savviest when it came to how exactly to use these bad boys haha Luckily I was in Palm Springs for the weekend with my best gal pal who often uses clip in extensions so she gave me the 101 on how to map out my head, prep to use them, how to clip them in and how to care for them…who knew there was so many little tips that help make the use of clip in extensions even better? :p

When it came to choosing my color and the package I wanted to get, I watched this really helpful video. It explained how to match the clip in extensions to your own hair color and also how to achieve the look you want with different length + weight options. I went for the package that was 20 inches in length and weighed 200 grams to add thickness + length for me since I tend to have really thin hair that can’t hold a curl…with these extensions they hold the curl so even if my own curls drop a bit, these last all day long (and all shoot long for my outfit shoot days haha)

The best part is the pieces are easy to clip in and out of your hair so they don’t show…that was always my biggest fear but no worries here. It’s all about finding the balance of how many pieces to use, the size of them + where they should be placed so they are undetectable 😉

They actually sent me the perfect after product to dry shampoo…Dry Conditioner! This is the first time I ever heard of it but I totally love it and it smells delicious (is sniffing my hair periodically throughout the day awkward? haha) These products are perfect for me because I try not to wash my hair everyday A) So it prevents my hair from getting to flat + B) Because it’s actually not good to wash your hair everyday (I learned this back when I was a receptionist at a hair salon on Long Island during my college years).

Happy Tuesday everyone! I am happy to report that I am writing today’s post from sunny Los Angeles where I am officially living now! Crazy I know…I still can’t wrap my head around being on the other side of the country from my family but luckily I have my blogger gal pals here to feel like family in the interim 🙂 This post is a little flashback to one of the exciting things I did pre-leaving NY…visiting the Marilyn Monroe Spa in the Hyatt Times Square in NYC! (Had to get my last Manhattan fix in before I said ‘bye for now’).

Having a relaxing spa day before a long journey and some new beginnings was completely necessary. I got a mani/pedi and a fabulous haircut and blow out and truly had my own ‘Marilyn’ moment (all that was missing was the movie star title hehe).  Read More + Enter The Giveaway

    1. Moroccan Oil Treatment // Eva-NYC ‘Mane Tamer’ :: 2. Wet Brush :: 3. Tresemme Fresh Start Dry Shampoo :: 4. Hot Tools Curling Iron :: 5. Moroccan Oil Hairspray

After Tuesday’s post, I received a few questions on how I get the curls in my hair A) To stay in this harsh winter weather + B) How I get them in my hair period + What products do I use. Well I’m sharing my secret, which isn’t much of a secret at all…I am a low maintenance kind of girl (only when it comes to my hair and makeup of course) so the less work I have to do the better 😉 Here’s my easy product guide to getting loose curls to stay in the dead of winter!

    1. Moroccan Oil OR Eva-NYC ‘Mane Tamer’ :: If I plan on blowing out my hair and need to de-frizz I use Moroccan Oil…it smells delicious, makes hair more manageable and is light weight. If I want to let my hair air dry (which is most of the time nowadays…who knew the whole constant straightening in high school would lead me to never wanting to do extra work on my hair ever again lol) I use Eva-NYC’s ‘Mane Tamer’…once again, smells delicious but this is a cream and definitely should be used only if you allow your hair to air dry because it may weigh your hair down or make it slightly oily if you are prone to oily hair.

    2. The Wet Brush :: This brush is my savior….like literally the best brush I have every owned. Here is a fun fact about me…before beginning my career in NYC, while I was in college I was a receptionist at a hair salon on Long Island. I tried out tons of hair styling tools, products and processes, and that’s where I discovered a few of my favorite items…including the Wet Brush. I keep one in the shower to brush through my hair after I shampoo + condition and I keep one in my room to brush through my hair once again after using Eva-NYC or Moroccan Oil.

    3. Tresemme Fresh Start Dry Shampoo :: I LIVE by this product, I have yet to find a dry shampoo I love as much as this one. I buy it in bulk (I’m talking like 6 cans at a time) and I have one with me no matter where I go. Every morning I spray some in my hair. Typically I was and let my hair air dry the night before I plan on curling it this way my hair has a little oil to make it easier to hold a curl (beauty school 101 minus the beauty school haha). Before I curl my hair I always spray this dry shampoo because it adds a little extra volume and it’s easier the curls to hold a grip.

    4. Hot Tools Gold Plated Curling Iron :: After going through hot rollers, regular rollers, round brushes and straightening irons, the best kept secret to getting great curls that hold? The ever so popular Hot Tools Gold Plated Curling Iron…I own 3 (you know for when I travel etc haha or in case one breaks and I have a hair emergency). It’s easy to use, great quality and gets the job done…takes me about 15-20 minutes to curl my whole head of hair.

    5. Moroccan Oil Hairspray :: This hairspray is amazing…it smells great, adds shine and is lightweight…finally a hairspray that gives you the hold your curls need without the crunchy texture no one ever wants…#Obsessed #Savior #IHashtagWayTooMuch :p

    Long Hair Don’t Care…

missyonmadison beauty hair brunette haircurling diy beautytips beautyguide hottools longhairdontcare dryshampoo hairspray photography fashionblog blog blogger beautybloggerHappy Thursday Loves! I decided to share with you one of my quick and easy tips to have ‘blogger’ ready for hair for outfit shoots, parties and just because…no blog required I suppose 😉

I always feel most confident when I have my ‘Victoria’s Secret’ style hair as I like to call it which in my mind simply means: loose, beautiful curls that look like a million bucks without seeming like a high maintenance hair style. It took me years to perfect the picture perfect hair that I would complain to every hair dresser I wanted, but by darn I’ve got it…only took working at a hair salon for 3 years (as a receptionist) to figure out how to properly curl my hair (guess I’m a slow learner…oops)! I am totally admitting I am far from a beauty guru and I turn to other bloggers for advice all the time, but I think now I can confidently say I found the secret to the ‘sexy hair’ style that is loose curls.missyonmadison beauty hair brunette haircurling diy beautytips beautyguide hottools longhairdontcare dryshampoo hairspray photography fashionblog blog blogger beautybloggerSo let’s start with what products I use:

    1) Hot Tools 1″ Curling Iron

    2) Tresemme Fresh Start Dry Shampoo

    3) Moroccanoil Finishing Spray

I swear by these products…first off I’ve had my Hot Tools Curling Iron for years and for $30 (I bought it on sale of course) it provides amazing results and is great quality…most hair styling tools end up not working after a lot of use, but this baby has yet to fail me. I got the 1 inch iron based on my hair length, I have long hair that is thin…consult the Hot Tools website or your hair stylist about which iron is right for your kind of hair! My dry shampoo is my savior. The Tresemme Fresh Start Dry Shampoo really gives you the bang for your buck. It usually retails at around $5, smells great and soaks up all the oil in your hair while also adding a little volume, texture and a great scent. Last but not least, in order to make my fabulous curls last me all day, I opt for Moroccanoil Finishing Spray. It’s light weight, flexible and smells delicious…I even spray it on days I let my hair dry naturally just for the fabulous scent. missyonmadison beauty hair brunette haircurling diy beautytips beautyguide hottools longhairdontcare dryshampoo hairspray photography fashionblog blog blogger beautybloggerNow I curl my hair the way I’ve been taught from my hair stylist friends…lesson one, dirty hair holds curls better than freshly washed hair. This may sound a little funky to you, especially if you are used to washing your hair every day, but I have a secret for you ladies…washing your hair every day actually causes it to produce more oil! Give your hair a day or two to breath (when I curl my hair it lasts me 2-3 days and I simply spruce it up with dry shampoo in the morning and touch up my curls). This varies obviously depending on the person, but for the most part rule of thumb…wash your hair and let it dry naturally the night before, day before or a few hours before you plan on curling it.

My steps below are based upon my hair being washed and naturally dried the day before!

    1) Spray Dry Shampoo a few inches away from the roots and if need be section off pieces to make sure you spray where you tend to get the most oily.  missyonmadison beauty hair brunette haircurling diy beautytips beautyguide hottools longhairdontcare dryshampoo hairspray photography fashionblog blog blogger beautyblogger2) Take about a 1 inch section of hair and clamp the piece around the barrel of the curling iron starting in the MIDDLE! Very important ladies, if you clamp it too close to the top or the bottom, the hair doesn’t curl or it doesn’t hold. missyonmadison beauty hair brunette haircurling diy beautytips beautyguide hottools longhairdontcare dryshampoo hairspray photography fashionblog blog blogger beautyblogger3) Begin turning the curling iron slowly gripping more of the hair as you rotate the iron up towards your root. missyonmadison beauty hair brunette haircurling diy beautytips beautyguide hottools longhairdontcare dryshampoo hairspray photography fashionblog blog blogger beautyblogger4) Hold the piece for about 10-15 seconds…missyonmadison beauty hair brunette haircurling diy beautytips beautyguide hottools longhairdontcare dryshampoo hairspray photography fashionblog blog blogger beautyblogger5) Slowly loosen up your grip on the iron to allow the piece to fall naturally.missyonmadison beauty hair brunette haircurling diy beautytips beautyguide hottools longhairdontcare dryshampoo hairspray photography fashionblog blog blogger beautyblogger6) Spray some finish spray or hair spray for extra hold…missyonmadison beauty hair brunette haircurling diy beautytips beautyguide hottools longhairdontcare dryshampoo hairspray photography fashionblog blog blogger beautybloggerAnd voila! Picture perfect hair in a few minutes flat!

Typically it takes me about 15-20 minutes to curl my whole head depending on how tight I want the curls or how finished I want it to look.missyonmadison beauty beautyblog hair hairstyle hairtips curlinghair longhairdontcare curledhair brunette beauty beautiful photography whitebathrobeHope my tips help you!
