    From Work To Play!

    20140312-095523.jpg

Finally some warmer weather has hit NYC! It may not be for long, but while it’s here I want to embrace finally being able to wear a skirt without totally freezing my butt off! This outfit is a mix of old and new.

One of my favorite accessories in this outfit is my scarf. I got it on clearance at H&M I’d say a good 3-4 years ago and it felt like a blast from the past when I decided to pair it with this outfit. I love the print of the scarf because it reminds me of something Dolce and Gabbana put out a few years ago…I was going for the whole ‘Look For Less’ thing when I purchased it haha! Sometimes a unique accessory is all an outfit needs to look polished and put together!

This look can transition from day to night and from work to play. For the office, remove the leather jacket and bam cute and stylish outfit to wear to work. Add the leather jacket, and it’s the perfect outfit for Happy Hour or a Girls Night Out! To make the look cute, sexy and professional I added these fabulous Anne Klein pumps I scored at Burlington Coat Factory for a whopping $20…yes this was a steal I was beyond thrilled about!

I love this look because it’s easy and flattering…who doesn’t love showing some leg and even better who doesn’t feel like a total bad ass rocking a leather jacket?! I sure do šŸ˜‰

    A Final Farewell to 2013…

    20131231-091530.jpg
This year has been quite the journey for me. Not to sound corny or young or naive but I’d have to say this year has truly been one I will never forget and has transformed me completely!

In the year 2013, I graduated Hunter College with a Bachelors DegreeĀ in Media Communications. I found my career path by startingĀ my own social media consultation business, ‘MRT Media Management’…the fact that in the year 2013 you can get paid for running a company’s Twitter, Facebook or Instagram account is pretty amazing…not gunna lie. IĀ landed a great full time career at FFANY (Fashion Footwear Association Of NY) straight out of college…literally a week after I graduated..not a minute to waste. And last but not least, IĀ launched my lovely blog ‘Missy On Madison‘ and met an amazing guy I’m happy to call my boyfriend, Chezi!

In this year alone I went from being a college student whose schedule consisted of workingĀ 3 part time jobs andĀ interning for amazing companiesĀ all while takingĀ full time collegeĀ classes…talk about a crazy 4 years! I’m definitely grateful for my college years don’t get me wrong. College gave me the opportunity to intern for WWD…amazing and for Howard Stern…even more amazing. I’ve had experiences most girls my age can only dream of (IĀ have family and friends calling me modern day Carrie Bradshaw…I can only wish)Ā and I’d have to say I truly am blessed…proving that a littleĀ hard work, someĀ motivation andĀ of course a ton of passion,Ā leads to success…I’m living proof! I am truly grateful for all that the year 2013 has brought me and as this year comes to a close, I can only hope that the year 2014 will bring you and myself continued health, love, success and of course…the key ingredient to happiness in life…passion!

See what outfit and dazzling shoesĀ I’m rocking this New Year’s Eve (Hint…it involves a little white with a dash of sparkle!)

    My Simply Stylist Takeaway!

    20131103-105220.jpg
Last Sunday I had the pleasure of attending the Simply Stylist conference in NYC!

May I just say it’s amazing how many fashion and beauty bloggers are out there, and having them all in one place is a stylish overload!

The conference consisted of keynote speakers like ‘The Hills’ star turned entrepreneur, Lo Bosworth, Catt Sadler of E!, America’s Next Top Model’s Jay Manuel and more.

Each person gave their ‘key’ tips on how to make it in beauty and fashion, how to turn your blog into a business and basically how to get what you want out of life.

It was inspiring to hear about the humble begins of Catt Sadler who grew up in the Midwest dreaming of being on tv and living in the big city. It made all of us who attended feel anything is possible if you just ‘Dive In’ as Jay Manuel would say and go for it!

While there was tons of great advice and insight to go around, a few key points stood out to me which I am thrilled to pass along to you:

    1) It’s All About Connections & Networking:
Don’t be shy ladies and gents. If you want to work for a particular company one day or just get your foot in the door to the industry, surround yourself with people that can help you get there. Attend events, parties, conferences, tweet, Instagram, Facebook; make everyone know who you are, being shy won’t get you anywhere, but being a little social butterfly will.

    2) Be Direct:
You want that amazing internship or job that you know half the world is applying for, so what are you to do? Easy, come up with a business proposal for yourself, treat the application, resume and cover letter like its a business. Go out of your way to take a major interest in the company; follow it on all social platforms, e-mail the key people or departments your interested in (not just HR), explain why your amazing and how hard your willing to work. Sell yourself, why should they want you?

    3) Be Kind:
While being a bitch can get you what you want faster, I’m a true believer in the fact that I’d rather be loved than feared. Being nice to people, makes you a better person, makes others appreciate your presence and in most cases will lead to positive things. Sure there is always a time to stand firm and speak up for what you want or believe in, but if you do it all the time no one will take it seriously, however if you do it once in a while people are more likely to truly be interested in what you have to say.

These 3 principles not only helped the panelists at the conference get to where they are today, but me as well.

Fashionistas take note: follow these principles and your likely to succeed in anything you wish to accomplish!

    Fur & Florals!

20131001-073141.jpgToday called for a simple, comfy and easy look. I will be running around all day in preparation for the huge 20th Anniversary of QVC Presents ‘FFANY Shoes On Sale’ tonight hosted by the lovely Julianne Hough!

This outfit was an easy go to. Perfect to wear to the office then to the salon and to the hotel to get ready for the black tie gala. Stay tuned for tons of pictures from tonight including my killer outfit I scored at an amazing deal, but back to the day ensemble.

I’ve had a little obsession with Abercrombie lately, so I wore this flowy floral top with my black Karen Kane vest over it, a blue knit skirt from Urban Outfitters and new cut out suede booties from Payless!

I love these booties because they are comfortable and affordable. They are identical to ones I’ve seen from Steve Madden, Sam Edelman, etc but these were only $40 on sale while theirs all cost about $100 or more!

Once again this outfit can be dressed up or down. Throw the vest over the floral top and it instantly is dressier and it pulls the entire outfit together!

Happy Tuesday Fashionistas & stay tuned for coverage of tonight’s event! I will be live Tweeting, lnstagramming and Facebooking from the ‘Pink’ Carpet!
