    Let It Snow

    20140104-123634.jpg
In case you aren’t from the tri-state area, a quite powerful snowstorm passed through NYC and Long Island leaving in it’s path a ton of snow. Naturally what’s a girl to do with at least 8 inches of snow on the ground? Well take photos in it of course!  So while I had a snow day Friday from work, I headed out into the snow in my favorite all black winter get up.

Just because it’s freezing and snowy outside doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice your fashion sense! My perfect outfit to battle the snow and cold? My snake print Stuart Weitzman boots, a cozy Via Spiga coat, an oversized sweater and comfy Hue leggings. To tie the whole look together? A pair of great sunnies of course because hey…it may be snowing but that doesn’t mean the sun isn’t shining!

I found these Stuart Weitzman boots on clearance at Saks Off Fifth over a year ago, along with these Hugo Boss aviators. This Via Spiga jacket was one of my best Black Friday scores from Lord & Taylor which I scored over 50% off! Sale pieces always come together to make some of the best ensembles!

Anyway, my point is…a lot of fashionistas slack off in the winter…meaning that sometimes it’s a lot easier to throw on a pair of sweats and call it a day. I’m not gunna lie, occasionally I get a bit lazy and feel it’s a lot easier to dress for warmth and forget about style, but I’m trying to start 2014 off right and mix comfort and warmth with style and fashion…I’m pretty sure they can all co-exist, don’t you?!

As the temperatures continue to decline, be sure to dress warm, stay chic and never loose your personal style, even in the most severe of weather conditions!

    My Curl Secret

    20131101-075943.jpg
Now I’ve always wanted to be the girl who wakes up with that perfect ‘Victoria’s Secret’ hair.

Hair that has body, bounce and soft waves that looks sexy and flawless with any look. Traditionally I’ve had to conquer up the will power to sit for about 45 minutes and curl my whole head of hair with a regular curling iron which always left me with ‘fish tail’ ends and a flopped look in under 2 hours.

So while I never buy into infomercials, I saw one for Conair’s ‘Curl Secret’ and had no choice but to try it!

I ordered it from Ulta.com and within a few days the new age of curling irons was plugged in and ready to go.

It was easy to use, lightweight and curled my whole head of hair in under 30 minutes. Best part? The curls last longer than those of my traditional curling iron.

Curl Secret allows you to decide how tight or loose the curls will be based on 3 different temperature settings. The contraption takes a piece of your hair, twirls it around the barrel chamber and after 3 beeps, voila! Beautiful curls!

Sounds too good to be true? Guess you’ll just have to try it out for yourself!

    Chic Chambray

    20140102-102829.jpg
Brrrr….It’s cold in here there must be some chambray in the atmosphere…sorry I had to do that but anyways, point is, it is freezing and snowing in NYC! Of course these photos were taken when it was actually sunny and bearable outside, but this outfit can be worn for any temperature depending on how you style it.

One of the things I love about Chambray is the fact that you can dress it up or down just by pairing it with different outfits. I love this look, a simple pair of gray Abercrombie pants (while I used to feel Abercrombie was soo middle school, I’m actually loving their pants…they fit great and are always on sale!), a chic faux fur vest from H&M, a simple pair of black shooties from Nine West and to add a little extra ‘Pop Of Color’, a red ‘Mini Mac’ bag from Rebecca Minkoff.

I love adding a little extra color to any outfit…what girl doesn’t want to stand out? Another great thing about this look? It’s makes for a great ‘Day to Night’ transition…after a long day at the office this look is perfect for any happy hour!

On a side note, this is my first post of 2014! I can’t believe it’s already January and already a brand new calendar year…is it just me or did 2013 fly by? Well, one of my New Year’s resolutions? Keep up the blogging and hopefully reach an even bigger audience than I already have!

    A Final Farewell to 2013…

    20131231-091530.jpg
This year has been quite the journey for me. Not to sound corny or young or naive but I’d have to say this year has truly been one I will never forget and has transformed me completely!

In the year 2013, I graduated Hunter College with a Bachelors Degree in Media Communications. I found my career path by starting my own social media consultation business, ‘MRT Media Management’…the fact that in the year 2013 you can get paid for running a company’s Twitter, Facebook or Instagram account is pretty amazing…not gunna lie. I landed a great full time career at FFANY (Fashion Footwear Association Of NY) straight out of college…literally a week after I graduated..not a minute to waste. And last but not least, I launched my lovely blog ‘Missy On Madison‘ and met an amazing guy I’m happy to call my boyfriend, Chezi!

In this year alone I went from being a college student whose schedule consisted of working 3 part time jobs and interning for amazing companies all while taking full time college classes…talk about a crazy 4 years! I’m definitely grateful for my college years don’t get me wrong. College gave me the opportunity to intern for WWD…amazing and for Howard Stern…even more amazing. I’ve had experiences most girls my age can only dream of (I have family and friends calling me modern day Carrie Bradshaw…I can only wish) and I’d have to say I truly am blessed…proving that a little hard work, some motivation and of course a ton of passion, leads to success…I’m living proof! I am truly grateful for all that the year 2013 has brought me and as this year comes to a close, I can only hope that the year 2014 will bring you and myself continued health, love, success and of course…the key ingredient to happiness in life…passion!

See what outfit and dazzling shoes I’m rocking this New Year’s Eve (Hint…it involves a little white with a dash of sparkle!)

    Blue, White & Sparkle!

    20131230-122929.jpg
I’m not afraid to admit it, I LOVE some sparkle…so tomorrow is one of my favorite days of the year…New Year’s Eve! One of the only days during the year that you can wear the most outrageous, sparkle filled outfits and no one can say excuse my French ‘Sh*t’ about it! So this outfit is breaking all fashion rules.

First off, no white after Labor Day can fly right out the window because I’m sorry but white is great for any time of year, especially New Years when all rules are meant to be broken. I paired chic white jeans with a simple black top…tied it together with a classic quilted bag….not in the regular black but in blue!

I’m somewhat obsessed with this blue bag because it’s so different…most people opt for a quilted bag in plain black, but this blue bag adds an instant pop of color to any outfit!

And in New Years tradition, you can’t forget to add some sparkle…and I did just that with these gorgeous, strappy Nine West glitter sandals!

I love this NYE option because it’s cute, comfy and actually keeps you semi warm walking around the Big Apple from place to place on the big night.
