A girls weekend is always a great way to get away, explore a new place and have some fun…especially some fun in the sun. This past weekend, Ali and I headed to Palm Springs to embrace the ‘Coachella‘ desert vibes, soak up some sun and of course hang in the pool with our fav friends…these fun inflatables duh! I have seen every blogger post photos with the inflatable swan or donut, so I found a few more of my favorites because hey the summer is still going strong and these babies need to be added to your pool party right? 😉
Palm Springs has become one of my favorite places. It’s relaxing, laid back, always has great weather (minus when it’s over 100 degress and I feel like I am dying haha) but besides that…it is pretty amazing. We stayed at the Ace Hotel that to be completely honest…feels like an Urban Outfitters store took over a 70s summer camp. It is very ‘hipster‘ which is far from my style, but it was cute in a vintage kind of way…I suppose I am expanding my horizons huh?
The view by the pool was amazing and I brought my signature accessories to have some much needed R+R. I have had these Tory Burch ‘Thora’ sandals since I was in high school (I am guessing the ‘wear’ in this picture kind of gave that away huh?) and they have continued to last me and be one of my favorite summer sandals. I have worn these Ray Bans and this floppy hat all summer long and they were perfect for the warm Palm Springs weather.
I love neon…even when it comes to swimwear so this hot pink Forever 21 bikini (yes Forever 21 has swimwear I love) is a set I bring to any pool or beach. I styled this flowy top from Kohls as a cover up (remember when I styled it in the desert with jeans just last week?).
So, I also have a little secret for ya (not that shocking don’t worry)…shooting this was tough. I think much like every girl wearing swimwear is a constant challenge…I am always complaining about how I look and naturally am self conscious. Since moving, I haven’t gotten into a good routine just yet when it comes to eating right and hitting the gym and let’s just say this was some motivation haha Whoever said being ‘bikini ready’ was hard certainly wasn’t kidding…Clearly in between weekend getaways to Palm Springs I will have to attempt to hike Runyon Canyon (trust me I am
dreading it and would much rather play in the pool but hey nothing worth having comes easy right?)
All in all I decided that ‘Coachella Valley‘ (apparently it is called that year round even when Coachella
isn’t happening) was my happy place. Sometimes after a stressful move, hectic work week and feelings of missing home…a day by the pool is just what the doctor ordered, also add a little laughter…because I believe the old saying goes…’Happy Girls Are The Prettiest‘…am I right? :p
