With Thanksgiving this week + the holidays quickly approaching, it’s time to get your holiday party looks ready to go! My current obsession this holiday season? VELVET! All kinds – from handbags, to shoes to dresses to pants, tops, bodysuits + more, I am loving velvet + everything that comes in it!! I rounded up my favorite velvet pieces from some of my go-to retailers (which will be running amazing deals for Black Friday + Cyber Monday, so now is the time to snag these beauties). Ready to get your velvet on? 😉
Searching for the perfect dress to wear to your office holiday party, family get together or NYE night out? Well, a velvet dress is the way to go! Honestly, I already stocked up on a few velvet dresses to wear this holiday season (including one velvet dress I fully intend on wearing to ring in 2018)!
I picked out a bunch of velvet dresses that range from long maxi styles to mini dresses + everything in between, this way there is an option for every event you will be heading to this season. A shorter style to wear out for happy hour (after spending a few too many days at home with the fam), a long sleeve mid-length dress appropriate enough to wear tooffice gatherings + some longer styles that work perfectly for a winter wedding.
Tops + Bottoms
If you aren’t a ‘dress person’ or you simply love velvet as much as I do + want to style it a few different ways, separates are a great option.
From a chic pair of velvet pants to a fun velvet body suit, mixing + matching velvet pieces with regular pieces can help you create a few different holiday looks without looking like a repeat offender! My personal favorites are these velvet pants + this velvet body suit.
My favorite part of any outfit? The shoes + bag…duh! Velvet bags are all over the place this season, from Gucci to Rebecca Minkoff, there are all types of velvet bags to rock this season at all price points! Which one am I lusting after? The Gucci Marmont bag of course hehe :p

From gifts to get your boo, gifts for your traveling bestie, gifts for your mom or sis + more…I got ya covered on the best gifts to give this holiday season and guess what?! They won’t break the bank! I worked hard to pick options under $300, from retailers like Nordstrom, Target + more because nothing is more important when gifting than shopping at places with great prices + a great return policy just in case you or the recipient wants to return it :p
Shop my favorite picks below + if you are searching for more gift guides comment on this post and I will put some more together!!
P.S. you can shop by clicking on the individual products in the graphics, use the shoppable feed below or click the direct links to the products under the graphics!
Whether you are looking for the perfect gift for your bestie, your sister, relative or more, these options are perfect! If you are a always rocking sunnies like me, these Diff Eyewear pink Cruz sunglasses are a great gift idea (maybe even to gift yourself hehe :p). They are affordable (under $100) + look just like RayBans – plus they are great quality!!
I also love gifting cozy options (especially if you are celebrating the holidays in a cold place). I’ll be in London + definitely will want to cozy up with some nice UGG slippers + blanket scarf!
Gifting your friends? I think this ban.do tumblr or Kendra Scott necklace both make perfect easy gift options. Who doesn’t love a cute tumblr to bring to the gym, work or just running errands? There are various quote options – all sassy of course 😉 Kendra Scott makes the perfect pieces for gals that like a little sparkle or to make a big statement. This necklace is under $55 + is great for a friend, relative, mother in law + beyond!
Finding the perfect gift for your brother, dad, boyfriend or guy friend can be tough. I tend to gravitate towards things I like haha but this year, I was on the hunt for this gift guide to find gifts that every guy will enjoy! Whether he’s a techie, a traveler, a homebody or just likes to keep things simple, these gift options are sure to be a hit.
One gift I know most guys will love is a little tech from Google. I actually received the Google Chromecast as a gift a year or so ago and when my boyfriend saw how easy it was to stream your favorite shows, movies + Youtube videos straight from your phone or tablet to your TV he bought one for himself! It is under $100 + makes life SO SO convenient!
Another gift I am loving this season is this Herschel Supply Co. duffle bag. This is great for the guy who travels a lot, needs a new gym bag or simply needs a convenient + great quality bag to have handy. Pair this bag with the Daniel Wellington Dapper York Watch + the guy in your life is ready to take on anything! New year, dapper you!
Ok, so you have a few people to gift + just aren’t sure what to get them…what are some safe options to gift? All the above!
A NEST Holiday Classic Candle is the perfect gift for a friend, relative, client + more. With it’s amazing scent + long lasting wick, it is a great gift to give yourself too to make your home embrace the holiday spirit!
Ah the tech lover! This is one of my favorite gift guides because I find tech + gadgets so fun to gift. Whether you are gifting a fitness lover who wants to get ‘fit’ for the new year with a Fitbit or a photography buff that would love to easy print photos they snap no matter where they are with the HP Sprocket Photo Printer…these gifts are sure to impress + be super handy!
Are you gifting to a wanderlust traveler? Well whether you are gifting to someone who frequently takes weekend trips, business travel or international voyages, these travel themed gifts will be the perfect gifts to give!
Time flies by so fast when it comes to the fall + the holiday season. Crazy to think Thanksgiving is just weeks away, followed by Black Friday shopping + prepping for holiday parties and gatherings! One of the most stressful parts of the holiday season is planning holiday parties. Whether it is an office party, a family gathering or a larger event, there is so much to do + so little time. Luckily, I am teaming up with BasicInvite.com today to share how easy it is the create custom holiday party invitations + photo cards with just a few simple clicks!
When it comes to throwing a great party, the invitation is pretty much the first impression of what is to come…the pressure is on, and what better way to do that than creating a custom theme or design that suits your style while having over 180 different colors to choose from along with various envelope designs + foil accents to add a little glitz + glam!
What I love about Basic Invite is that the site is easy to navigate + there is just so much room for creativity. With over 250 Christmas card and holiday card designs, you are bound to find something personal to you that will stand out amongst the typical store bought cards shared throughout the season.
Basic Invite is one of the few websites that allows customers the ability to order a printed sample of their actual invitation so they can see exactly how it will print + feel (paper quality is key) before they have to place a final order. Now this is something I think is genius, nothing is worse than ordering something online (especially a bulk order of custom invitations or cards) + them not coming out as expected. By being able to order a sample, it makes the process seamless + guarantees satisfaction so every order is a happy order…one less thing to worry about this holiday season 😉
While I will be in London this holiday season, I am tempted to order holiday cards just because they are so pretty! From the chic fonts, to the creative details, Basic Invite has everything you need for spreading joy this season.
As if the amazing cards aren’t enough, Basic Invite also has an address capturing service which allows customers to simply share a link on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or any other social platform to request their friends and family’s addresses which will be stored in the customer’s account + can then be selected during the design process so each individual card + envelope is customized. Basic Invite offers recipient address printing at no extra cost on all Christmas card orders! Woohoo! (The less I have to handwrite the better hehe…I have the sloppiest handwriting ever :p)
Happy Tuesday Loves…and most importantly Happy National Handbag Day! ♥
If I got to come up with all of the national holidays, they would pretty much always center around handbags haha Honestly what holiday is better than one where we get to celebrate handbags in all their glory? Some may think my love for designer bags is a bit crazy (just ask my boyfriend haha when I spent over an hour in Chanel during our recent trip to Paris he was not enthused to say the least haha #oops – I mean come on…it was CHANEL in Paris – how did he expect me not to have a major OMGmoment? hehe :p)
In honor of this special day haha I am sharing some of my favorite bags I have invested in over the years + I am sharing my tips to purchasing the designer bag you have been lusting after (it can happen – trust me!)
The highlight of today’s post is my most recent purchase from my European excursion – my FIRST ever Chanel bag. I have literally dreamed of this moment for years + the fact that it finally happened in Paris of all places was like a fairytale moment for me haha (ok now I really do sound like a handbag addict #sorrynotsorry)
On the subject of dreaming of a certain bag, this brings me to my first designer bag tip…
1.Research + Save!
There are a ton of bags out there by a ton of designers with a ton of different functions. What I find most helpful when contemplating a big handbag purchase is to evaluate when I would wear the bag, what occasion, how often etc. When spending a pretty penny on a bag you want to make sure you get good use out of it. That’s why I typically wait a couple of months before purchasing + if my lust for the bag is still there, then it is meant to be.
I have dreamed of purchasing a classic style Chanel for years (I even set a goal for myself that I would be able to purchase one – without living out of a cardboard box hehe by the time I was 30). Why Chanel? Easy…it never goes on sale, it will always retain it’s value + other than Hermes (which is my next goal haha), it is pretty much the best of the best when it comes to an investment designer bag to purchase ♥
That brings me to this beauty…the Louis Vuitton Pouchette Metis. I have been lusting after this bag for a YEAR, yes no joke a year! When my boyfriend first got to London, I asked him to visit Louis Vuitton to see if it was available anywhere in the UK since I had been on waitlist status at LV in the US for months. Lucky enough…I got lucky in the good ole’ UK + the rest is…well history hehe and a good story!
Why was I lusting after this bag? Easy – it is a classic style that is perfect for everyday wear + because it is such a commodity to get your hands on now-a-days, it retains it’s value (yes ladies + gents, handbags are an investment :p)
This brings me to investing in a designer bag Tip #2…
2.Carefully choose your style!
This may sound silly, but this ties back to tip one…it is quite important to think carefully before picking you color, pattern or print of bag. For example, Gucci has been very eclectic lately…meaning the bags are brightly colored with funky patterns etc. Those styles are a trend, they will not be in style 5 years from now (let alone a year from now) however, a simple black Chanel bag or signature monogram Louis Vuitton will rarely got out of style since they are classic styles that aren’t ‘trendy‘ per say :p
3.Bigger is ALWAYS Better!
Hey now, get your mind out of the gutter hehe I am referring to the size of the…bag! Do you ever go to the movie theater + the person at the concession stand tells asks you ‘Would you like to upgrade your combo to a large for just $.50 more?‘ 9 times out of 10 you say yes don’t ya? Why? Because it’s a no brainer, for a little amount more you get double the serving. Funny enough, that same logic applies to purchasing a designer bag.
I didn’t start buying ‘smaller’ designer bags till this last year – after I already invested in larger bags that have tons of room + functionality. Usually the next size up when it comes to designer bags varies between a few hundred dollars, so if you are iffy on whether you need the extra space or not, I always say GO FOR IT! I have never heard anyone regret going a little bit bigger + having the extra room.
Funny enough – my first job when I was 14 was scooping popcorn at my local movie theater (so I used to have to up sell everyone to a large combo haha) Anyways, with all of those up sells, I would get a $.25 commission added to my paycheck…I saved up all of those checks to purchase my first Dior bag the summer before I started high school! And that brings me to my next ‘tip’ or rather fun fact…
4.Every Bag Has A Story!
My bags always have a story behind them. I can tell you where I purchased it, why, when, etc. I usually buy one new designer bag a year + each bag is a milestone for me. For example, the Dior above was the first designer bag I purchased for myself ever.
Below is the Gucci bag I bought on Rodeo Drive when I first moved to LA…every bag tells a story, which makes them so meaningful to me as corny as that sounds…
Below are some of my current favorite bags I have purchased over the years…What is your favorite bag story?
Happy 4th Of July Everyone!! Time to light up the BBQ, head for the beach + enjoy the sunshine while sipping on cocktails. While I will for sure be doing that, I may be doing a little bit of something else…online shopping!! 4th Of July weekend always has some of the best sales. From end of season summer favs like swimsuits + pool toys to trendy footwear + accessories, every major retailer does big business this weekend and honestly I am not surprised as to why, this is one of my favorite weekends to shop (in between laying out by the pool of course :p).
While this weekend is traditionally known for summer time fun, I want to just remind everyone this is a holiday to celebrate America, to celebrate what makes this country truly great + to think about what it is to be an American. I for one am beyond proud to live here + be an American. It saddens me that as of late with this political climate, less + less Americans are ‘proud‘ of being an American. How can you not proud to be a citizen of this great country where everyone else desperately wants to move to? We have the best of everything, no matter what your political beliefs are, to be an American is an amazing thing + this weekend is a time to feel proud + show your allegiance to this country.
Now that I got out of the way 😉 I am rounding up some of the Top 4th Of July SALES for 2017 below!
Happy Monday! I hope you all had a great weekend – I sure did (lots of lounging and much needed rest after a busy week and I have a full week ahead…including a charity gala, dinner with one of my favorite PR gals + a trip to the…you guessed it ‘Museum Of Ice Cream‘)! Safe to say there’s lots happening…one thing coming up I am taking time to prep for is Mother’s Day! Mother’s Day is just TWO weeks away – Sunday May 14th.
Whether you are planning on treating your mom to a lovely brunch, dinner or getaway, a card + a little gift is something that is always guaranteed to put a smile on any moms face! My mom has always been a fan of perfume and lotion sets (probably since everything else she likes is wayyy out of my budget haha) but my grandma loves candles and jewelry…So I rounded up some of my favorite gifts I have seen currently available at Nordstrom, Saks Off Fifth, Bloomingdales, Lord & Taylor + more!
It is hard to find the perfect gift for someone that has given you life + so much more, but these little gifts may just do the trick 😉
This weekend you can snag the best designer bags, shoes, clothes + my personal favorite sunnies at prices so low they won’t break the bank! Now this is what I like to call a #GiltShoppingParty! The Gilt Sample Sale will have some brands like Prada, Valentino, Paul Smith, Balenciaga + more. The best part is that the sample sale will have a revamped layout making it even easier to shop and you can browse based on price point, trend, designer + more!
If you are in the NYC area this weekend I HIGHLY suggest you pop by the sample sale + get your shopping on!
In addition to getting to shop some great designers at up to 80% off, there are on site alterations, a DJ, some goodies from sponsors like Dove + even monogramming! Sounds like one hell of a #GiltShoppingParty if you ask me!!
Since I won’t be in NYC this weekend to shop the sale, I did some shopping myself online at GILT.com (I snagged these Karen Walker sunnies for 50% off)! I linked to some of my favorite sunnies from GILT below ♥
