    Beauty Bag Essentials: Foundation

MissyOnMadison LaRochePosay PoreReducer BenefitMakeup Makeup Porefessional FoundationBrushes Dermablend DermablendFoundation beauty beautyblog cosmetics ulta ultacosmeticsHappy Tuesday Loves! Figured I’d share where the start of my outfit shoots begin…with my foundation! I have searched high and low for the perfect beauty products that A) Give me proper coverage B) Hide my pores and redness C) Match my skin tone, with a slight hint of tan (what can I say I am slightly obsessed with having color year round).

Finally after years of searching…I have found my ‘must haves’ I simply can’t be without:

    1) Benefit Cosmetics Porefessional: This baby is a miracle worker! Reduces redness, hides my pores and evens out my skin tone.

    2) La Roche Posay Effaclar Mat: I use this twice while doing my makeup routine. First I do a thin layer as my regular moisturizer (it reduces shine and is a pore reducer) and then I use it again to mix with my foundation for a smooth finished look.

    3) Dermablend Smooth Indulgence Foundation: BEST foundation hands down. Goes on smooth, gives amazing coverage and looks practically air brushed. It comes in a variety of hues and all of them have a little tint of bronze for a tan and glowing finish.

    4) Japonesque Concealer Brush: This brush is great to get coverage in all those hard to get spots…under your eyes, around your nose etc.

    5) Elf Stipple Brush: I LOVE this brush and can’t believe it only cost me $3 at Target. It is the best foundation brush for liquid or cream foundation.

    Say My Name…

shopdandy missyonmadison blog blogger monogram monogramkeychain monogrampencilholder makeupbrushes lucitewithmonogram monogramgifts gifts styleHappy Tuesday Loves! Can you tell I was listening to Destiny’s Child while writing this post? ‘Say My Name’ is one of my favorite songs and my other bit of inspiration for this post was Bravo’s new series called ‘Jersey Belle’ where Jersey native Jaime Primak Sullivan leaves the world of cannolis and the Sopranos for the preppy and fully monogrammed town of  Mountain Brook, Alabama. I love how there was an entire episode just about how much southern women love their monograms. Bath towels, shirts, even underwear…all with their monograms…a little overboard, but nonetheless I’m kind of obsessed myself! shopdandy missyonmadison blog blogger monogram monogramkeychain monogrampencilholder makeupbrushes lucitewithmonogram monogramgifts gifts styleShop Dandy has all the monogramed pieces you are craving (they are a Southern boutique, so it’s only fitting they stock up on monograms!). I bought this lucite pencil holder (which I so cleverly turned into a places to store my makeup brushes) and an oversized signature key ring…it solved the whole loosing my keys in my oversized purse problem instantly 😉 shopdandy missyonmadison blog blogger monogram monogramkeychain monogrampencilholder makeupbrushes lucitewithmonogram monogramgifts gifts styleI also love C wonder for great monogrammed pieces. I’ve gotten signature cuffs and jewelry boxes from them. Helps me remember who I am on days that I get so busy I practically loose my mind 😉 I also love Graphic Image New York / GiGi NY for some great leather and monograms…clutches, planners and phone cases…all with my stamp of approval, my initials <3Screen Shot 2014-07-26 at 10.40.46 AMShop My Picks Below <3

    Long Hair Don’t Care…

missyonmadison beauty hair brunette haircurling diy beautytips beautyguide hottools longhairdontcare dryshampoo hairspray photography fashionblog blog blogger beautybloggerHappy Thursday Loves! I decided to share with you one of my quick and easy tips to have ‘blogger’ ready for hair for outfit shoots, parties and just because…no blog required I suppose 😉

I always feel most confident when I have my ‘Victoria’s Secret’ style hair as I like to call it which in my mind simply means: loose, beautiful curls that look like a million bucks without seeming like a high maintenance hair style. It took me years to perfect the picture perfect hair that I would complain to every hair dresser I wanted, but by darn I’ve got it…only took working at a hair salon for 3 years (as a receptionist) to figure out how to properly curl my hair (guess I’m a slow learner…oops)! I am totally admitting I am far from a beauty guru and I turn to other bloggers for advice all the time, but I think now I can confidently say I found the secret to the ‘sexy hair’ style that is loose curls.missyonmadison beauty hair brunette haircurling diy beautytips beautyguide hottools longhairdontcare dryshampoo hairspray photography fashionblog blog blogger beautybloggerSo let’s start with what products I use:

    1) Hot Tools 1″ Curling Iron

    2) Tresemme Fresh Start Dry Shampoo

    3) Moroccanoil Finishing Spray

I swear by these products…first off I’ve had my Hot Tools Curling Iron for years and for $30 (I bought it on sale of course) it provides amazing results and is great quality…most hair styling tools end up not working after a lot of use, but this baby has yet to fail me. I got the 1 inch iron based on my hair length, I have long hair that is thin…consult the Hot Tools website or your hair stylist about which iron is right for your kind of hair! My dry shampoo is my savior. The Tresemme Fresh Start Dry Shampoo really gives you the bang for your buck. It usually retails at around $5, smells great and soaks up all the oil in your hair while also adding a little volume, texture and a great scent. Last but not least, in order to make my fabulous curls last me all day, I opt for Moroccanoil Finishing Spray. It’s light weight, flexible and smells delicious…I even spray it on days I let my hair dry naturally just for the fabulous scent. missyonmadison beauty hair brunette haircurling diy beautytips beautyguide hottools longhairdontcare dryshampoo hairspray photography fashionblog blog blogger beautybloggerNow I curl my hair the way I’ve been taught from my hair stylist friends…lesson one, dirty hair holds curls better than freshly washed hair. This may sound a little funky to you, especially if you are used to washing your hair every day, but I have a secret for you ladies…washing your hair every day actually causes it to produce more oil! Give your hair a day or two to breath (when I curl my hair it lasts me 2-3 days and I simply spruce it up with dry shampoo in the morning and touch up my curls). This varies obviously depending on the person, but for the most part rule of thumb…wash your hair and let it dry naturally the night before, day before or a few hours before you plan on curling it.

My steps below are based upon my hair being washed and naturally dried the day before!

    1) Spray Dry Shampoo a few inches away from the roots and if need be section off pieces to make sure you spray where you tend to get the most oily.  missyonmadison beauty hair brunette haircurling diy beautytips beautyguide hottools longhairdontcare dryshampoo hairspray photography fashionblog blog blogger beautyblogger2) Take about a 1 inch section of hair and clamp the piece around the barrel of the curling iron starting in the MIDDLE! Very important ladies, if you clamp it too close to the top or the bottom, the hair doesn’t curl or it doesn’t hold. missyonmadison beauty hair brunette haircurling diy beautytips beautyguide hottools longhairdontcare dryshampoo hairspray photography fashionblog blog blogger beautyblogger3) Begin turning the curling iron slowly gripping more of the hair as you rotate the iron up towards your root. missyonmadison beauty hair brunette haircurling diy beautytips beautyguide hottools longhairdontcare dryshampoo hairspray photography fashionblog blog blogger beautyblogger4) Hold the piece for about 10-15 seconds…missyonmadison beauty hair brunette haircurling diy beautytips beautyguide hottools longhairdontcare dryshampoo hairspray photography fashionblog blog blogger beautyblogger5) Slowly loosen up your grip on the iron to allow the piece to fall naturally.missyonmadison beauty hair brunette haircurling diy beautytips beautyguide hottools longhairdontcare dryshampoo hairspray photography fashionblog blog blogger beautyblogger6) Spray some finish spray or hair spray for extra hold…missyonmadison beauty hair brunette haircurling diy beautytips beautyguide hottools longhairdontcare dryshampoo hairspray photography fashionblog blog blogger beautybloggerAnd voila! Picture perfect hair in a few minutes flat!

Typically it takes me about 15-20 minutes to curl my whole head depending on how tight I want the curls or how finished I want it to look.missyonmadison beauty beautyblog hair hairstyle hairtips curlinghair longhairdontcare curledhair brunette beauty beautiful photography whitebathrobeHope my tips help you! NYX Please…

NYX beauty cosmetics ulta ultabeauty blog blogger makeup nyxmakeup fendi fendicosmeticbag rebeccaminkoff iphonecase purple iphonecase missyonmadisonHappy Tuesday Loves! While I am far from a beauty expert, there are times where I become slightly make up obsessed and this weekend was one of those times. First off, I am HORRIBLE when it comes to finding the perfect beauty products for me. Foundation is my arch nemesis…every time I pick a product I always second guess and pick the wrong shade or apply it in correctly, you name it I do it. nyxstudiofoundation liquidfoundation NYX beauty cosmetics ulta ultabeauty blog blogger makeup nyxmakeup fendi fendicosmeticbag rebeccaminkoff iphonecase purple iphonecase missyonmadisonWell while spending some quality time at Ulta over the weekend I discovered this baby…NYX HD Studio Foundation and may I say this…it’s AMAZING! If a girl who barely can do your makeup is telling you this product is easy to apply, gives light to full coverage depending on what you want and won’t break the bank…then trust me on this, it’s something you MUST try <3 I’m obsessed. In order to set it throughout the day since I get oily I also got the Mineral Powder from NYX so I can not look shiny…isn’t that the worst!NYX beauty cosmetics ulta ultabeauty blog blogger makeup nyxmakeup fendi fendicosmeticbag rebeccaminkoff iphonecase purple iphonecase missyonmadisonNow I also learned (from years of applying my makeup incorrectly) that no matter what, your foundation never changes…meaning this. Stick with your natural skin tone, just because you get tan in the summer or feel you look pale doesn’t mean you start changing shades when it comes to foundation. I’ve now spoken to tons of beauty gurus…bloggers, make up artists, estheticians and more…your base never changes, if you want color use bronzer baby! My personal favorite is the Matte Bronzer from NYX above…comes in 3 different shades and gives great beach like color! NYX beauty cosmetics ulta ultabeauty blog blogger makeup nyxmakeup fendi fendicosmeticbag rebeccaminkoff iphonecase purple iphonecase missyonmadisonNow if you’ve never tried NYX Butter Gloss…ladies your missing out on life. It’s first off so cheap (usually $4-$6) and it gives a smooth and shiny color without leaving your lips feeling dry or sticky. This is my savior…I can apply and re-apply it all day long! NYX beauty cosmetics ulta ultabeauty blog blogger makeup nyxmakeup fendi fendicosmeticbag rebeccaminkoff iphonecase purple iphonecase missyonmadisonFigured I may as well share my go to beauty shopping accessories…my phone because 1) I don’t purchase without coupons & 2) Retail Me Not in Ulta is your best friend. There are always coupons and I usually also type a list of products I need in the notepad on my phone so I don’t forget. My cosmetic bag is from Fendi and get ready for this…I purchased it at…Costco! Yes ladies did you know Costco sells Fendi? I was beyond thrilled when I saw they carry this makeup bag and got even more thrilled when I saw the price $115 (for the large) woot woot! Who would have thought Costco could be so fashion forward 😉 NYX beauty cosmetics ulta ultabeauty blog blogger makeup nyxmakeup fendi fendicosmeticbag rebeccaminkoff iphonecase purple iphonecase missyonmadisonI’m off to play with more makeup…I’m attempting to learn how to do my eye makeup using all my new eye shadow shades from NYX…any suggestions? I’m the worst when it comes to doing my eyes…oops!
