I finally decided to venture out of my normal nail color palette to try something dark and devious for fall!
This week’s mani Monday is all about ‘No More Film‘ from Essie. I not only love all the great colors Essie comes out with, but the creative names too. How long do you think it takes them to come up with ‘Butler please or Boom Boom Room’? That must be one hell of a job!
As always, my bling helps show off the mani! Love my Michael Kors Gold link watch and my skinny Marc Jacobs bangle bracelet. They snazz up any outfit and compliment each other!
I also had to take this opportunity to show off my fabulous black suede Steve Madden pumps. They are the perfect fall shoe and look exactly like Manolo Blahniks at the fraction of the price!
Another designer collaboration has hit Kohls! The official launch is September 27th in stores and online but for a limited time only you can snag a fee key pieces of the collection online: Here
The collection has already been worn by one of my fashion idols, Olivia Palermo and now I officially have to have an eyelet leather dress, thanks Olivia!
The collection is moderately priced and has dresses, skirts, shirts and more that can be worn for work or play!
Visit Kohls.com for more info!
A little bling goes a long way! I love spicing up simple outfits with some fun jewels and these are two of my favs!
The gold spiked bracelet is from TopShop for Nordstrom, bought on clearance for $10 and the black leather bracelet with a gold horn is by Vince Camuto, also on clearance at Nordstrom for $30.
Simple, cheap and they make a statement, now that’s my style!
It’s mani Monday and we know what that means, time to show off this week’s manicure. Although the fashion rule is no white after Labor Day, I decided to be a rebel and commit a fashion faux paus by rocking a white, hot mani this week!
I accessorized with a gold Michael Kors watch and Marc Jacobs skinny bangle bracelet. A fall look wouldn’t be complete without patent leather black pumps and a bright red pleather skirt!
It’s finally starting to feel like fall this morning in the Big Apple! While I admitted I am a summer gal, the fall opens up a window of opportunity to rock fun textures, prints and colors you simply can’t get away with on a 90 degree day in the middle of July.
My skirt today is one of those items. While on the hunt for a black tie dress for an upcoming work event I stopped into Lord & Taylor and fell in love with this pleather, flowy skirt in red and white (I couldn’t resist buying it in both colors). As always, I never pay full price for my fashion and I scored this skirt on the clearance rack in addition to coupons. I ended up getting this skirt for $30 and its a great staple for the fall season.
I wanted the main focus of the outfit to be the skirt so I paired it with a simple black button down top from Old Navy, Christiano for Payless pumps and one of my favorite Gucci bags with red roses painted on the front.
I get tons of compliments on that Gucci bag and the best part is I scored that for $300 about 6 years ago at the Americana Manhasset Gucci store during an end of the season sale. It’s such a unique bag and I have yet to find one person with it.
These pumps are also a favorite of mine. While I have a hard time finding a pair of comfortable heels, these Christian Siriano for Payless pumps have a nice platform in the front making them easy to walk in without having to forgo a sexy heel.
Happy Monday fashion lovers!

I’m feeling Minty Fresh this evening (sorry I had to use that line!) all thanks to my new mint peplum top I found at Lord & Taylor today for…$7! Yes people, this gorgeous peplum was originally $50 and I got it for $7, that’s the joy of shopping on the clearance rack!
I’m off to a night out in the Big Apple, and since the weather is getting a little chilly this evening, I opted to dress up my favorite pair of jeans from Hollister (from when I was in high school!) with my new peplum top, a classy and simple black boyfriend blazer by LC by Lauren Conrad for Kohls, Anne Klein heels and my trustee quilted and studded Rebecca Minkoff bag!
I truly have fallen in love with this Rebecca Minkoff bag. It’s great for a night out because for one, it looks like the classic and chic Chanel quilted flap over bag for a fraction of the price (Compare the Minkoff at $395 to the Chanel at $5,000, easy decision). I also love this bag because it has enough room for all the essentials for a night out; makeup, charger, spare shoes, wallet & perfume, what else could a girl on the go ask for!
In addition to my love for my Rebecca Minkoff bag, I have a slight obsession with these Anne Klein heels if you hadn’t already noticed. It’s hard to find a stylish and comfortable pair of heels and these are it! I got them at the end of the summer sale at Lord & Taylor and I loved them so much I bought them in hot pink as well. They are great to wear to work or for a night out like tonight and the best part is I can walk all around Manhattan in these without a single wince or complaint, now that’s almost unheard of from a woman in heels!
Happy Saturday fashionistas!

There’s nothing I love more than mixing and matching different textures and fabrics into a look that is all my own! In true Melissa style, today’s outfit is not just chic but also cheap.
I found this lace knit top for $7 at Nordstrom Rack this past week and fell in love. It’s perfect for a casual look on the weekends with a pair of jeans or shorts as well as a great piece to pair with a simple black skirt for work.
I’m always trying to stay fashionable yet professional at the office so I try to mix fun, trendy pieces with a classic staple that goes with everything, like this black bandage skirt from Guess.
This skirt has lasted me since freshman year of college when I first scored it half off at Bloomingdales, and has definitely lasted the test of time. I’ve worn it to interviews, nights out with the girls and now to work!
A wise Rachel Zoe once said to invest in the pieces that are staples…pieces that won’t fade from season to season. I think this is one of the best fashion rules of all time. A chic blazer, pencil skirt, great pair of skinny jeans aren’t going anywhere anytime soon!
Today’s outfit of the day mixed my black skirt, lace top and my Old Navy denim vest that is a fun item to through over any outfit to give it that fun, young vibe. It instantly transformed this outfit from cute and professional to sassy and stylish!
