I am a simple girl…when it comes to make up it’s the easier the better. I never have time in the morning to play around with a million different products to achieve a killer ‘cat eye’ or a nice smokey look…I prefer sticking to the basics…clean, bright and some long, full lashes.
I’ve been on the hunt to achieve the great ‘fake‘ lash look for a while now and I even attempted the whole individual fake lashes deal but it just wasn’t for me. After all of the freakouts i had in my head over loosing my real lashes and after attempting it once just for all of the fake lashes to fall off within 48 hours, I determined that finding the right eye makeup products was my best bet and I think I found them!
After Tuesday’s post, I received a few questions on how I get the curls in my hair A) To stay in this harsh winter weather + B) How I get them in my hair period + What products do I use. Well I’m sharing my secret, which isn’t much of a secret at all…I am a low maintenance kind of girl (only when it comes to my hair and makeup of course) so the less work I have to do the better 😉 Here’s my easy product guide to getting loose curls to stay in the dead of winter!
1. Moroccan Oil OR Eva-NYC ‘Mane Tamer’ :: If I plan on blowing out my hair and need to de-frizz I use Moroccan Oil…it smells delicious, makes hair more manageable and is light weight. If I want to let my hair air dry (which is most of the time nowadays…who knew the whole constant straightening in high school would lead me to never wanting to do extra work on my hair ever again lol) I use Eva-NYC’s ‘Mane Tamer’…once again, smells delicious but this is a cream and definitely should be used only if you allow your hair to air dry because it may weigh your hair down or make it slightly oily if you are prone to oily hair.
2. The Wet Brush :: This brush is my savior….like literally the best brush I have every owned. Here is a fun fact about me…before beginning my career in NYC, while I was in college I was a receptionist at a hair salon on Long Island. I tried out tons of hair styling tools, products and processes, and that’s where I discovered a few of my favorite items…including the Wet Brush. I keep one in the shower to brush through my hair after I shampoo + condition and I keep one in my room to brush through my hair once again after using Eva-NYC or Moroccan Oil.
3. Tresemme Fresh Start Dry Shampoo :: I LIVE by this product, I have yet to find a dry shampoo I love as much as this one. I buy it in bulk (I’m talking like 6 cans at a time) and I have one with me no matter where I go. Every morning I spray some in my hair. Typically I was and let my hair air dry the night before I plan on curling it this way my hair has a little oil to make it easier to hold a curl (beauty school 101 minus the beauty school haha). Before I curl my hair I always spray this dry shampoo because it adds a little extra volume and it’s easier the curls to hold a grip.
4. Hot Tools Gold Plated Curling Iron :: After going through hot rollers, regular rollers, round brushes and straightening irons, the best kept secret to getting great curls that hold? The ever so popular Hot Tools Gold Plated Curling Iron…I own 3 (you know for when I travel etc haha or in case one breaks and I have a hair emergency). It’s easy to use, great quality and gets the job done…takes me about 15-20 minutes to curl my whole head of hair.
5. Moroccan Oil Hairspray :: This hairspray is amazing…it smells great, adds shine and is lightweight…finally a hairspray that gives you the hold your curls need without the crunchy texture no one ever wants…#Obsessed #Savior #IHashtagWayTooMuch :p

It’s a rainy Sunday here on Long Island which is kinda cramping my style when it comes to shooting new looks for the site. My brother aka my photographer is sick…the weather is miserable, so what is a gal to do? Play around with beauty products of course!
I have been DYING to have longer, fuller lashes for over a year now…and I think I have found my three secret weapons: Lanakin Lash Extension System, Benefit ‘They’re Real’ Mascara and Urban Decay ‘Subversion’ Lash Primer. Using the three of these products has really made my lashes ‘stand out’ in my opinion…I can tell a difference…so you guys have to try it for yourselves and share your experiences with me 🙂Okay so I was a little hesistant at first when Lanakin sent me their lash extension system because I am not one to A) Swallow pills or B) Try new medications, pills, vitamins etc. well my worries went out the window when I saw the side effects are minor and the benefits are getting the celebrity like lashes I’ve always wanted.
The best part of the Lanakin Lash Extension System? It’s helps provide healthier, longer and fuller lashes in just 2 weeks! You can try Lanakin risk free 14 day trial here! Now to break down my other two eye lash essentials. Over the summer I was on the hunt for a great eye lash primer and discovered the Urban Decay ‘Subversion’ Lash Primer that retails for under $30 and truly works wonders. I had tried countless other ‘primer powders’ but what I love about the Urban Decay primer is that it goes on just like a mascara…no mess, no fuss and great results! My other eye lash secret weapon? The Benefit ‘They’re Real’ Mascara. After seeing countless commercials on Bravo for it (because naturally that’s where I get all of my product advice from since I am addicted to that channel haha!) I figured hey it’s worth a shot…and boy am I glad I tried it. I love it so much that I ordered 5 of them at once in bulk because I could never be without it…now that’s true love 😉
Speaking of ‘True Love‘ I honestly can’t believe that Valentine’s Day is just around the corner! Happy Thursday Lovers! I’m excited to switch things up today and share a little beauty post with ya’ll! I am always on the hunt for new beauty products…especially ones that are affordable and can be easily found at local drug stores or major retailers (all of today’s products are available at Target, Walgreens or Sephora)! So let’s get down to it…First up…Olay Regerist Micro-Sculpting Cream! I recently got my first ever Microdermabrasion treatment and the aesthetician (who was horrified by the state of my skin by the way) emphasized the importance of starting young with the proper products to nourish and treat your skin to get it in the best state before it’s too late. I may be 22 but apparently now is the time to combat aging skin before the aging starts…at first I wasn’t on board but after an hour treatment and a lot of convincing…I think I will listen up and start with my aging skin treatments…first off by sticking with the Olay Regenerist line…especially the Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream. Not only does it reduce the sight of wrinkles, but it firms skin in just a few days and helps your skin look 10 years younger in the matter of weeks…top rated, featured in countless beauty mags and plus I’m a fan…if that didn’t sell ya on this lightweight creamy product yet…I don’t know what will 😉 Maybe the fact that it retails for under $25 will help too…
Now that we know what to use on our face to combat aging skin let me introduce to you my skin saver…a product that deals with my biggest issue year round…blemishes and acne. The Body Shop has come up with a pocket sized solution to help reduce the appearance of blemishes in a matter of hours without using harsh chemicals that typically dry out your skin or cause negative side effects. I LOVE this Body Shop Tea Tree Blemish Gel (I may or may not have it on me daily in my cosmetic bag).
After getting rid of your blemishes it’s time to bring a little attention to your lips…with Clinique Matte Lipstick. I love any lipstick that is matte and especially a lipstick that doesn’t feel dry or one that needs to be re-applied every half hour…this Clinique Long Lasting Soft Matte Lipstick has long lasting in it’s name and feels like a lightweight gloss or lip balm…I’ve been wearing this daily even if it is just to run errands.
It’s no secret that I absolutely LOVE nail polish and I am slightly addicted to manicures…and by slightly I mean definitely. I get my nails done minimum once a week and I always love trying new colors and brands. My long standing go to brand has been Essie, but when I saw this new brand ‘Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics‘ in my Glam Beauty package sent to me from Mode Media I right away A) fell in love with the name of the brand…hello ‘Obsessive + Compulsive’ describe me all too well according to my mother 😉 & B) these polishes are 100% Vegan + Cruelty-Free…now that’s pretty awesome for a nail polish!
They say ‘the eyes are the window to your soul’ so I feel it’s only suiting to make them pop…and Eyeko ‘Me & My Shadow Waterproof Shadow Liner’ has become my savior for early morning eye makeup in a jiffy. This glide on shadow is long lasting, not messy and provides amazing color without having to mix and match it with multiple eye products. Since I tend to keep my eye makeup simple (you will never see me with a cat eye or multiple eye shadow colors unless it is professionally done) this product is perfect for me. I do my makeup in under 15 minutes and this takes all of 30 seconds to apply for an instant ‘done’ look.
Now for the finishing touches…fabulous hair and a delicious scent. I always want simple and easy hair products to spray on wet or dry hair that add volume or a little style with low maintenance and who would of thought Target would sell my ideal product, ‘Charles Worthington Volume & Bounce Thicken & Full 3D Boosting Creme‘. Spray and go…nothing complicated there. It adds bounce, shine and volume without that ‘hard’ or ‘crunchy’ feeling…ladies you know exactly what I am referring to…
Last but not least…the fragrance. I scream, you scream, we all scream for…you guessed it ICE CREAM…so Demeter Fragrance came up with a genius scent…’Pistachio Ice Cream’! Not only does it smell just like my favorite flavor of ice cream but it is such a unique scent I’ve had various gals and gents come up to me asking what I’m wearing…let’s just say it is far from Chanel No.5. Wear this only if you are able to think outside the box and smell sweet even if you don’t always act like it 😉 (Similar picks below)
