Today is a bit bitter-sweet…by the time all of you are reading this, I will be on the road for my big move to California! If you didn’t catch Monday’s post, I announced that I am moving to LA and leaving the only place I’ve ever known, Long Island, for a new journey filled with great opportunities and of course some adventure.

It’s crazy to think I will be leaving my family and friends behind to venture out on my own and really become an adult but hey…it has to happen eventually right? Well I decided today was the perfect opportunity to do a little flashback to a look I shot a few weeks ago at one of my favorite Long Island hot spots, Prime American Kitchen & Bar (during my college years I actually hosted there during the summer). I have always loved being by the water and soaking up some sunshine so hostessing there was one of my favorite jobs and not to mention the food was kinda amazing…(and by kinda I mean it was in fact amazing!). Ok so maybe I am getting distracted…I love this look and even more the scenic Huntington Harbor backdrop (hey maybe it’s meant to be I am moving to LA…there is a Huntington beach in Cali isn’t there?)

There is no time of year I love more than spring and summer…I just feel like I am in my element wearing bright fun colors and prints, so I am hoping California is a natural fit for me (fingers crossed)! I plan on wearing this Old Navy denim jacket a lot in LA. It is such an easy piece to layer and can make an otherwise dressy look casual.

I paired it over this chiffon ivory dress for a laid back vibe perfect for a day by the water…

Of course, no look is complete without the accessories (I packed all three of these must haves for Cali)! My blue Ray Bans, blue Kenneth Cole satchel + my Nina floral platform sandals (how adorable are these!

When I went through the shots from this look in my library I instantly fell in love with this photo…I feel like it is a final farewell to Long Island showing me in my happy place…by the water with my hair blowing in the wind with not a care in the world. While I am nervous about the next step I am taking in my life, I will never forget where I came from and how it made me who I am today <3
